Yu Zhen entered the tent and walked towards the bed. He gently placed Li Xueyue on the bed until she sat on it. He knelt in front of the bed and reached out to touch her face. He wanted to wipe away the tears that flowed from her red eyes, but he never expected her next move.

Li Xueyue slapped him in the face.

Applause echoed throughout the tent, followed by an ominous silence.

Yu Zhen looked at her in shock. A bright red spot appeared on his left cheek. He was stunned and did not take any action to relieve the pain on his left face. Soon, disbelief enveloped his vision, and his blood began to boil.

"What on earth was that for?!" he asked, standing up.

"Get out." Her fingers dug into her palms, shaking as she quelled her frustration at what he had done to her in the tent.

Yu Zhen had never heard her sweet voice become so vicious and bitter.

"Snow Moon——"

"Are you deaf?"

Yu Zhen's last bit of sympathy withered and died. He glared at the stubborn woman in front of him. She stared at a hole in the floor and never raised her head to recognize him.

"If you think I'm going to step out of my tent, then you can—"

She stood up and pushed him away.

Before Li Xueyue had walked far, he grabbed her wrist and turned her around roughly.

"Don't touch me, you sadistic prince!"

Yu Zhen gritted his teeth. He didn't know she would have a panic attack in the dark. He just wanted to scare her. He didn't expect her to cry.

"Do you know who you're talking to?" He grabbed her chin and forced her to look up at him. He immediately regretted his decision.

Hatred. Anxiety. Irritation. So many negative emotions flashed through her eyes, wide and unforgiving. She hated him. There was no other way to describe her feelings. How could he do this to her? Not only did he act like a jerk, he abused her with a lantern and then scared her.

What right did he have to hurt her like this? Just because she hurt him? Were his unforgiving words not enough? How far would he go?

"I can talk to the damn Emperor himself, for all I care," she said, shaking his hand off.

Li Xueyue knew she was a mess. Her clothes were messy and her hair was tangled, but nothing could distract her from her anger at him. How dare he?

First, he offered to let her see the tent, then, he kept the inside of the tent in complete darkness. What's more, he also forced her to give up the light. Not to mention the fear he brought to her.

She was afraid of the dark, and he was using it against her. She had never felt such intense fear, not even in a nightmare. The fear of the unknown troubled her deeply, especially in the darkness when she could hear nothing but the wailing and groaning of the people trapped in the tent.

Everything he had done to her was vile. Forgiveness was now impossible.

"Yu Zhen, you are right, monsters do exist." Li Xueyue said gritting her teeth.

Li Xueyue's mentality in the tent was crazy and fragile, and everything she said was like gibberish. She didn't think rationally in that tent. What he promised her felt too unreal to be true. She heard his confession clearly, but she couldn't believe him herself.

"And you are one of them," she concluded. "The worst one!"

Yu Zhen felt like he was slapped again, but this time, it was her insulting words. He saved her when she needed him most. He sacrificed his men's time to catch those who wronged her. He comforted her when she needed him most. He did so much for her, but she treated him like a nobody.

His expression turned grim, and his angular features became cold.

Yu Zhen would not tolerate such insults, especially from the woman he cared about the most.

Yu Zhen clenched and unclenched his fists, clenched his teeth. He had so many things to say to her - things that would destroy her. He swallowed his pride, bit his tongue, and rushed out of the tent.

Li Xueyue didn't bother to pay attention to his temper. She was busy throwing one of her own.

"Hey, do you think I can be the godfather of their child?" Hu Dengxiao happily invited Lu Tianbi to eat by the fireplace.

Lu Tianbi played with her food and stared at him as if she had grown three heads. "What kind of stupid question is that?"

"I mean, didn't you see the look on our commander's face? He looked troubled. Who knows, maybe if they did it now, it might end up being a child."

Lu Tianbi rolled her eyes. Was this what had been bothering him? He looked lost in thought, and she was sure he was formulating some kind of strategy. She was annoyed because he was wasting his intelligence by thinking about unpredictable, stupid things.

"Do you really think our commander would let her get pregnant before presenting her to the royal family?"

"You're right..." Hu Dengxiao pouted. "He won't ruin her reputation like this."

"That's right." Lu Tianbi muttered. From a distance, she noticed the commander approaching.

"Oh, here he comes," Lu Tianbi said, pointing at him. When he stopped in front of them, she put down the food on her plate.

"Really--" Hu Dengxiao paused, and found that the second prince's face was flushed with a strange red. "What happened?"

Lu Tianbi advised Hu Dengxiao to stop talking nonsense.

Yu Zhen seemed to be in a bad mood. He was too lazy to answer Hu Dengxiao's question and sat down on the wood they shared.

Hu Dengxiao sulked at being ignored. He twirled his fingers and decided that he was no longer hungry, even though he had already finished two plates of food.

Lu Tianbi felt that something must have happened, but she couldn't be sure. Looking at the commander's almost scarred face, she could roughly guess what happened, but hoped it was not true. If Princess Li really slapped the second prince, it would be a capital crime.

"Zhenzhen, did she hit you?" Hu Dengxiao suddenly asked, breaking the awkward silence.

Yu Zhen gritted his teeth. He picked up the plate that Hu Dengxiao had abandoned and stuffed it into his friend's hand. "Shut up and eat."

Hu Dengxiao's pout deepened. He pondered over his food and stuffed it into his mouth angrily.

Lu Tianbi sighed. "Commander, women are fickle. If she slaps you, you must have done something wrong."

"You should stand on my side." Yu Zhen said sternly.

"I am." Lu Tianbi nodded. "But I also want to help you figure out the problem. You look confused by what she's doing, so I just want to give you some advice."

"I didn't ask for it."

"Dear Commander, don't be so stubborn." She said sarcastically. "You are my friend, I am just trying to correct your mistakes."

Hu Dengxiao scraped the plate clean and showed Yu Zhen the result. "Okay, I'm done. Are you happy now?"

"Are you sure Xueyue is full?" Yu Zhen muttered.

Hu Dengxiao wanted to cry right then and there. He didn't like Yu Zhen's cold reception. The commander had looked angry for the third time today. First, Yu Zhen had ignored him on the way to the tent and then shoved the plate into Hu Dengxiao's hands, and third, he had accused Hu Dengxiao of starving the princess to death.

"I invited her to dinner, but she said she wasn't hungry..." Hu Dengxiao's voice gradually weakened.

"She is a glutton," Yu Zhen said. "It doesn't make sense for her not to eat."

"That does remind me," Lu Tianbi said. "She seems to have lost weight since I last saw her with you in the palace gardens."

Yu Zhen’s mood grew even worse. Did she starve herself to death? Was this the latest trend among women? He glared at the campfire, his gaze matching the intensity of the flickering flames.

"Damn it," he roared, standing up. "Deng Xiao, go cook for her."

"I'll do it." Lu Tianbi sighed and decided that she would be the voice of reason.

"What if she doesn't eat...?" Hu Dengxiao asked.

Yu Zhen pursed his lips. "Then tell her that I stuffed the food into her mouth."

Lu Tianbi looked at him disappointedly.

Yu Zhen ignored her. She reminded him of a nagging older sister who acted like a parent. “Tell me if she doesn’t eat.”

Lu Tianbi did not respond. She watched her commander straighten his shoulders and disappear into the distance. Most likely to vent his anger in that tent.

She sighed and turned to Hu Dengxiao. "Go prepare a plate of food for her and I'll bring it to her."

Hu Dengxiao nodded helplessly. "Okay, but don't blame me if it's wasted."
