They fell into a suffocating silence again. Li Xueyue didn’t have the strength to speak for a moment. What could she say to him? She exposed a weakness that she didn’t want anyone to find out—she was pitiful. She had nightmares. She had baggage. She was already dead heavy.

No one should love her.

This was just as Viscount Bai had instilled in her heart.

"Please." Li Xueyue finally spoke, her voice heavy. "Let's go," she whispered, half hoping he didn't hear her, half hoping he could hear her.

Yu Zhen was never used to losing his temper. He was often the one throwing them in the most deadly and least noticeable ways. From cutting out the tongues of those who spread rumors about him to beatings that his brothers were good at. His anger was always unexpected and subtle.

He likes to think of himself as a patient man, but that's a lie. What he asks for, he gets. One second late is too late and should be punished. Everything has to go his way, or there's no way around it.

So why did he hold out his hands to her, showing his palms to show that he meant no harm? Why did he approach this stubborn woman when she should have been the one to apologize? Why did he give up his pride?

"Sunshine, come here," he whispered, urging Li Xueyue to take the hand he extended.

Li Xueyue blinked. This was not an order. Guilt swept through her chest, reminding her how heavy a burden she was. She bit her lower lip, her brows knitted together.

"I'm so sorry..." she whispered.

"come to me."

He didn't forgive her. Li Xueyue knew that the expectation of forgiveness was too high. Their extreme differences would eventually collide and wreak havoc on their lives. They were opposites of each other.

Yu Zhen is the calm before the storm, and she is the raging waves.

"Yu Zhen, I don't think—"

He put his hand down, with an understanding smile on his face. "It's getting dark." He turned his head and looked out the window, where the sun was still shining brightly.

"I'm sorry, Princess Li, my sudden appearance must have damaged your reputation." Yu Zhen said formally. "I won't do it next time."

He nodded and said goodbye to her, and walked past her without looking at her again, as if he was leaving the home of an acquaintance.

Li Xueyue turned around instantly and watched him open the door without saying a word. She waited quietly, expecting him to close the door and rattle the wall frame, but he didn't. In fact, he closed the door gently behind him.

She had read somewhere that one could tell how dangerous a person was by the way he quietly suppressed his anger. Yu Zhen epitomized this.

Li Xueyue dug her fingers deep into her palms, forcing herself to stay rooted in this living room. "This is the best," she said loudly.

Li Xueyue shouldn't be dragged down by a man. She had decided this morning that she was going to say goodbye to him. Asking for distance and time between them. Maybe his leaving was the best outcome. Maybe it would be better for him to walk out now, knowing that there was nothing between them - the little red ribbon of fate wrapped around their little fingers. Maybe this was better for him - she couldn't finish her thought.

She rushed out the door.

Li Xueyue threw away all etiquette and ran desperately. Her hairpin loosened and fell to the ground soon. She didn't care about these things, she didn't care about her image. She cared about him.

He had chased her once before. Now it was her turn.

"Yu Zhen, wait!" she shouted, and saw his tiny figure in the distance, which became smaller and smaller with every breath she took.

Whether or not he heard her pleas, he didn't show it.

Yu Zhen gradually disappeared from her sight.

Li Xueyue forced herself to run, but how could she run? Her legs were restricted by the blue Hanfu, which was the beautiful color of the boundless sky, but it was also this thing that trapped her.

“Yu Zhen, please!” She didn’t know if he heard her, but he was gone.

Li Xueyue refused to stop for air, even though her vision was beginning to blur. Her heart skipped a beat. She felt like vomiting after not exercising for so long.

She continued to run after him, even though he had already turned the corner and was probably on his way to the carriage.

When she finally turned the same corner as him, Li Xueyue was grateful, even if it came at the cost of her overworked lungs.

"My lady!" a servant gasped as a whirlwind of blue whistled past her.

She stared in amazement as the young lady rushed to the gate of the Li residence and saw a man on the steps of the carriage.

"Oh, I have to inform the Madam about this," the servant said worriedly, rushing in the opposite direction where the young lady was running.

Li Xueyue could see him now. He was outside the walls of the Li Mansion, about to board the carriage. Her lungs began to fail, and in her fog she suddenly stumbled and fell heavily to the ground.

Yu Zhen's attention was distracted by one of his men, who whispered something to him frantically. He stared in disbelief and rushed into the carriage, where a servant closed the door for him. It wasn't long before the cavalry started the carriage.

"Miss, are you okay?!" The anxious servants immediately surrounded Li Xueyue. When they saw her messy appearance, they could hear a collective gasp.

"Your knees!" wailed a maid, realizing that the heavy fall had torn her hanfu and scraped her pale skin.

"Hurry, we have to take you back to your room. The wound is deep and still bleeding!" The maid said with her eyes wide open and full of fear.

The rules stated that if a young woman had a scar, she could not marry into the royal family.

Li Xueyue ignored them. She pushed past the servants, a cry of pain escaping her lips. She limped and bit her lower lip. She continued to walk towards the front door, frowning and ignoring the mess she had made.

She walked to the front door, only to be greeted by a puff of dust. She covered her face for a moment, and when she opened her eyes again, the carriage was gone.

Yu Zhen has gone with the wind.
