Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 116 Genius
"Mom, look! That woman just fell down!" A little child pointed at Bai Tianai and said loudly while pulling his mother's skirt.
"Oh my God, isn't that Earl Zheng's son? What's his name?" There was a murmur of speculation.
"Who is with him?"
"Oh my god, I think that's Viscount Bai Sheng's daughter, Bai Tian Ai!"
"Oh, isn't she the girl who was kicked out of her friend's party? How humiliating! Look how much it affects her beauty and grace."
Bai Tianai was dizzy and nauseated by their mocking voices. They rang in her ears and made her face burn with embarrassment. She struggled to stand up in her restrained Hanfu, shaking her head from side to side, desperately looking for Zheng Leiyu. He was gone.
Her eyes widened as she realized he had just left her here to rot and be laughed at. The crowd and vendors nearby laughed as they saw her struggling to get to her feet. Some tried to hide their amusement behind their sleeves, but it was hard not to laugh. She sat still on the ground, numb with shock, making a fool of herself.
"This is so humiliating, I can't take it anymore!"
"Poor Viscount Bai has such a shameful daughter. Look at her, what a pitiful little thing!"
"If that was my eldest daughter, I would be embarrassed to show up. Fortunately, he has a second daughter."
"Who is the other daughter?"
Bai Tianai was distraught. Rightly so. Her father accidentally let slip that he had another daughter!
Love needs something to distract everyone's attention during the day, and Li Xueyue is the best choice!
Bai Tianai glared at the stable fiercely, expecting everyone to follow her gaze. She expected them to see Li Xueyue inside, hoping that this would cause a greater spectacle than this. But to her horror, there was a man inside, his figure blocking Li Xueyue's view. When she saw the color of his clothes and his familiar back, she felt the whole world start to spin.
Zheng Leiyu left her for Bai Xueyue - of course it was true - but this was enough to make Bai Tianai panic. She immediately got up and tried to pull him back, but to her surprise, he had already left Li Xueyue.
“Lei Yu, you’re here…” Her voice gradually faded away when she saw his unhappy expression.
When he saw her, resentment flashed across his face and disgust flashed in his eyes. He walked past her as if he didn't know her.
Li Xueyue pursed her lips. She mocked Zheng Leiyu for going too far. She thought he just wanted to be friends with her, nothing more. But he asked her something she didn't expect.
"Are there any men courting you?" he had asked her, but she had replied vaguely, "I think you'd better help your friend."
Li Xueyue wanted to sigh heavily to relieve the burden on her shoulders. She didn't expect his behavior to be so shameless. She needed to carefully plan her next move at home.
She turned back to her horse with a look of grievance on her face. She still had no money to bring Black Moon out of the stable. She knew she should have taken her own servants and guards! She had left home with nothing but her clothes and jewelry.
Li Xueyue fell deeper into the shadows, thinking about her next move. She was thankful that the lights in the stable were dim, otherwise the crowd outside would have been able to see her.
Li Xueyue watched silently as Bai Tianai made herself the laughing stock of the town.
Bai Tianai struggled to stand up, and when she finally stood up, her face was already red. She was too embarrassed to even show her face. She sniffed and ran away in the direction where Zheng Leiyu had gone. No one laughed at her anymore, but their mocking laughter rang in her mind, chasing her down the block until her figure disappeared in the distance.
Finally, the crowd dispersed and everything returned to normal.
Li Xueyue tried to wipe the satisfied smile off her face. Bai Tianai – 0, Li Xueyue – 2. It was such an easy victory, she couldn’t believe that things had gone so smoothly in her favor.
Now, the only question was, what was she going to do with her horse?
She turned in exasperation to Black Moon who was patiently waiting for everything to unfold. His ears perked up as he heard the soft jingle of her hairpins and the familiar scent of her approaching body. He stamped his feet, eager to be with her. When he found that she was close enough to touch him, he sighed with excitement and walked towards her happily.
Li Xueyue wanted to take him away from the stable, but she couldn't. The same could not be said for the stubborn stable boy, who refused to take the jewels in exchange for payment.
Finally, she sighed and turned to the stable boy. She was surprised to find that he was pale and staring at her as if she had two heads. He swallowed nervously and wiped his forehead with a handkerchief. He didn't think this well-dressed woman was a princess! Had he seriously offended her? He didn't want to turn around so early!
"Oh - on second thought, I'll accept your hairpin as payment," he stammered, pointing with a trembling finger at the topaz barrette, which gleamed even without proper lighting in the stable.
Li Xueyue touched her hairpin and suddenly regretted pawning it. Heiyue suddenly neighed, attracting attention, and then turned around, leaving the two confused. He raised his front legs, scaring them both.
"What's wrong?" Li Xueyue shouted worriedly and walked to the door of the stable, but was stopped by the stable boy.
"Princess, danger! Be careful!" He shouted and tried to block her horse's hooves, but Heiyue angrily stepped on the gate with her foot.
He could smell her and hear her, but he couldn't touch her. He was irritated that she was so dumb. He snorted and showed her his side.
Li Xueyue was confused by his reaction, and suddenly noticed the saddle and the small schoolbag hanging on the saddle.
Her eyes lit up. "Heiyue, you are a genius!" She gasped and pushed the door open easily.
Before she could go in, she heard a voice calling out, "Xue Yue?"
Li Xueyue was stunned by his voice. She didn’t want to turn around. She didn’t want to face him. Not after the incident at the banquet. She never wanted to see him again.
"What are you doing in Beijing...? I thought you were bedridden." Wen Jinkai pointed out. His eyes moved from her beautiful back to the black horse. This must be his woman.
"Are you feeling better now? How's your back? Have you used the ointment I bought for you?" Wen Jinkai approached her and asked worriedly. He didn't expect to see her here!
Li Xueyue cursed the heavens inwardly, her bad luck. She turned around helplessly and faced him with a tight smile. "Commander."
Seeing her, a smile appeared on his face. "How are you?"
"I'm better," she retorted, sliding through the stable door and toward her horse.
Wen Jinkai noticed her reaching for something in her satchel. "I'll pay for you," he said, walking toward the stable boy with a bag of coins.
"No!" she yelled, but it was too late.
Wen Jinkai had already handed a glittering gold coin to the wide-eyed boy.
"Sir, this is way more than the price—"
"Keep the rest of the tip," Wen Jinkai interjected, his eyes never leaving Xueyue. "As soon as I heard you were sick, I wanted to see you, but you look fine and handsome now."
Li Xueyue didn't answer him. She moved closer to Black Moon, seeking comfort on her big horse. Black Moon sensed her fear. His tail began to swing behind him as his ears pricked up.
Wen Jinkai's lips thinned when he saw her unhappy horse. What was it going to do? Attack him when he was the payer of the stable?
"Xueyue, come with me for a walk." Wen Jinkai handed the reins to the horse boy.
"It's getting late, I have to go home." She lowered her lips and said firmly. His suggestion sounded like an order.
"You are afraid of missing dinner," he pointed out. "In that case, I will invite you to a reputable restaurant that many nobles like."
“My family is waiting for me.”
"I'll send a guard back to inform them, don't worry, Xiaolu."
“Are you that close?” Li Xueyue snapped, her patience worn thin by him. Why couldn’t he understand that she didn’t want to be with him? ! Especially after what he had done to her!
Seeing her displeasure, Wen Jinkai's expression softened a little. "I didn't mean to offend you."
Li Xueyue tried to remain calm, her chest aching with guilt. Maybe she was overreacting? She shook her head. No, he was just trying to manipulate others.
"I'm going home. Thanks for helping me," she sneered, pulling a coin purse out of her bag.
She took the gold coin from the horse boy's still outstretched hand, stuffed the money in, then rushed to Wen Jinkai and placed the money in his palm. "Thank you, but you're welcome."
