Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 111 Forgot something
If there is one place that Li Xueyue likes to visit the most, it is the shops in the capital. The whole street is lined with colorful tents and various vendors. There is lively festive music in the air, children chase each other and chirp happily, and a unique smell fills the air. Today, foreign tourists from all over the country gathered, selling all kinds of goods, from accessories to spices to materials.
After handing the horse over to the stable, Li Xueyue couldn't wait to explore. She walked through the crowd easily, forgetting who she came with.
Almost every stall caught her attention, whether it was selling jewelry or food like dried fruits. Li Xueyue couldn't help but stop in front of everyone, curiously looking at the goods on sale, and unknowingly, everything she touched was taken.
"Did you forget something?" A hoarse voice sounded behind her, and a pair of arms lifted her onto the table. He hovered over her, watching her twirl a polished black stone in her hands.
The surface was smooth, but when Li Xueyue pinched it with her fingers, heat emanated from the strangely colored stone.
“Isn’t it beautiful?” Li Xueyue asked, not caring about their closeness. In any case, her face was covered by a veil and there were guards around her.
Li Xueyue held the stone up to the sunlight, revealing the brilliant colors hidden beneath the darkness. She was immediately mesmerized by it, in awe of its various brilliances. Despite the specks of color, nothing could obscure the beauty of the obsidian's black color.
"Look at the color!" She turned around and showed it to him.
Yu Zhen was caught off guard by her sudden movement. He thought she would avoid him, but now she was facing him, her face so close to his.
When she smiled up at him innocently, her eyelashes fluttering innocently, he could feel himself falling helplessly in love with her.
Li Xueyue was his death god. She was beautiful like a masterpiece of heaven, but that was not why she attracted him. Words could not describe how he felt about her, nor could they accurately say what he liked about her. He just did it.
He had intended to mock her for abandoning him, while she bounced from one merchant to another. He instructed his men to buy anything she looked at for more than three seconds. It got so bad that many people began to take notice of this generous patronage, and many eagerly waited for the young lady to visit their stalls.
"What do you think?" she asked him eagerly, showing him the magnificent stone.
Yu Zhen couldn't see what use it had, it was just a pretty stone, but she valued it more, so he smiled at her and said, "It's beautiful."
She held it next to his eye with a childish smile on her lips. Her face was filled with joy and excitement, making him unable to see anything but her.
A wave of possessiveness washed over him. He wanted her, and only her for the rest of his life. No one could ever replace her.
"They're the color of your eyes!"
"What?" Yu Zhen chuckled as she showed it to him again. "My eyes can't be that bright—"
“But they are.” Li Xueyue grabbed his hand that was firmly grasping the table. She put the stone on his fingers and wrapped his fingers with hers.
"They're warm to the touch," he noted, unable to comprehend the meaning of her behavior. "People say my eyes are my worst feature. They're dull—"
"This stone is also dim, until light fills the infinite abyss and creates a world of color." She reached out and touched his face, and he froze. He held his breath and let her do what she wanted. Despite the loud background noise, the only thing he could hear was the rapid beating of his heart.
"Just like you."
Yu Zhen's admiration for this little woman was palpable. He couldn't respond to her compliments. He was a prince. He had grown up listening to flattery, but nothing could compare to her words, so gentle, so sincere, and he believed them in his heart.
"Am I hot as a rock too?" he teased her, but she quickly took the bait and nodded quickly.
She shook her head. "I thought it was weird that you called me Sunshine, but you always radiate a comforting warmth that's different."
Suddenly, he embraced her, not caring if their intimacy would draw attention. He embraced her as if his life depended on it - as if there was no one in the world he cherished more than her. He held her tightly and buried his face in the crook of her neck.
"Where have you been all my life?" he muttered, his voice too quiet for her to understand.
"Can you say that again? I didn't hear you." She mumbled against his clothes, her arms tucked between them. She couldn't move her limbs, but he was too focused on hugging her to notice.
Finally, he released her, his eyes burning with passion.
Li Xueyue almost mistook it for lust until she saw the bright smile on his face. He was indeed the most magnificent sight she had ever seen. Nothing could compare to his smile. She could tell that it was joy coming from deep within him, spreading happiness to every inch of him and his surroundings.
"What did you say before?"
"Never mind that." He smiled and turned to the merchant. "We'll take it."
"Thank you for your patronage!" the vendor exclaimed, and a pretty maid placed the money in his hand.
Before Li Xueyue saw the price, he turned around and faced him.
"You don't have to buy it, I just admire it-"
"It's too late. Everything that needs to be said has been done."
“But—” Li Xueyue trailed off as she finally became aware of the guards around her, several of whom were carrying things, from bags of spices to boxes of various sizes.
"What's that?" she asked, pointing at the box in his guard's arms.
"You'll know in a moment." Yu Zhen comforted her while pulling her hand and placing the stone in her palm. He held her hand until her cold fingertips slowly became warm.
"What kind of stone is this?" Li Xueyue asked.
“This is a black fire opal, usually found deep in volcanoes,” Yu Zhen explained without hesitation.
He was thankful that his hobby as a child was collecting rocks. It was something he really enjoyed, until his father severely reprimanded him, saying that the prince's hands were never to touch the ground. Yuzhen refused to listen, and the emperor showed no mercy, ordering his hands to be whipped fifty times until the skin was torn and blood was flowing. Fortunately, no permanent scars were left, but the incident was enough to traumatize a young boy.
"You should keep it. It would make a lovely necklace."
"Or a ring."
"What?" Li Xueyue touched her left ear, wondering if she had heard it wrong.
"Nothing." Yu Zhen smiled softly and grabbed her hand that was placed on her ear. "Should we explore further?"
Li Xueyue had no idea how much money she had spent today, so she nodded quickly. "Let's go see the snack shop next!"
