Chapter 3: Potion Master as Godfather
Alicia did not have an easy time after returning to Malfoy Manor. Professor Snape would probably give her and Draco more difficult instruction before the start of the school year at Hogwarts - after all, Hogwarts was a boarding school, and it was not so convenient for professors to come in and out.
It is worth mentioning that if Draco's level of potions is excellent, then the level shown by Alicia can make her be called a genius - to the extent that Snape looks at her differently.
You can tell by looking at the water of life and death she is boiling.
She ground the narcissus roots into powder and poured it into the mugwort infusion exactly as gently as if it were a treasure. A weak flame ignited under the crucible and began to heat it. After a while, white smoke slowly rose.
Even through the white smoke, Snape could see the concentration and absorption in Alicia's eyes. He thought about the possibility of taking the latter as his disciple. No potion expert would miss such an excellent apprentice.
At this moment, a spirit called "inheritance" enveloped him, and the Cellar Snake King, who usually did not show his emotions, had a faint smile on his face. It was the joy of discovering that there was someone to succeed him.
This would be a Potions genius belonging to Slytherin.
It was several days later when Lucius Malfoy heard Snape's thoughts.
As a contemporary potion master and the last disciple of the Dean of Slytherin, he doesn't have to worry about Alicia's campus life for at least the next seven years.
Whether Alicia wants to enter the Ministry of Magic or make potions in the future, Malfoy and Snape will be her strongest support. But Draco is different. Draco will be the next head of the Malfoy family.
It is true that the youngest daughter also has the right to inherit the family property, but her talent in business is indeed not as good as Draco's.
"Severus, are you willing to be Alicia's godfather?" Lucius asked after thinking for a while.
Snape froze.
Lucius probably guessed his friend's reaction after hearing this before asking. He said to himself: "When Thea was born, Xixi and I had this plan, but the situation was turbulent and no one wanted to bring it up again. Now it seems that since Thea is quite talented in potions and you are willing to teach her personally..."
Snape interrupted rudely: "Lucius, if you did not lose your memory and remembered my situation, you would know that I am afraid I would not be a good...godfather."
A godfather is a child's second father.
"Severus, I believe in you, and Thea believes in you too."
Half an hour later, Snape was convinced by some words and agreed to Lucius.
When she met Alicia again, she was told that the professor had become her godfather.
Alicia looked at the tall man in front of her. His smooth black hair fell obediently on both sides of his cheeks. His eyes on his hooked nose… were not as cold and empty as before, but a little nervous. A velvet-like voice came out of his mouth: "Alicia."
The girl looked at Snape with sparkling eyes, her expression sincere, and her tone cheerfully replied, "Godfather."
She and Draco both idolized Professor Snape, their Potions master and future Head of House.
The difference is that for Thea, Snape has become her godfather. No one can refuse the owner of such a pair of clear eyes, which clearly convey trust and respect.
Lucius's concern was implicit, and Draco's admiration was polite. Unlike her father and brother, as a girl from the Malfoy family, Alicia's straightforward and surging admiration swept Snape's heart unreasonably.
That was the gaze of his goddaughter.
his children.
-----------
In the following days, Draco always looked at the new godfather and goddaughter duo with resentment, whom he could not fit in - it was not that Snape was partial, but the figures of the big and the small brewing potions simultaneously were too tacit.
When all the steps were completed, Snape's gratified look and Alicia's joy after being praised made him even more jealous, or two parts of jealousy!
His respected professor actually became his sister's godfather, but the most important thing was that his dear sister had almost become the second Snape these days! Not only did she smell like potions, but she also followed Snape all day and had no time to be with him!
Does she still remember that she is a Malfoy?
Draco also ran to the study after dinner to ask his father why Professor Snape could not be his godfather. Lucius did not avoid the topic. He stroked his son's hair and slowly replied: "Draco, you are the future head of the Malfoy family."
And Severus Snape was a half-blood, a half-blood with an unclear stance.
Having known each other for many years, Lucius and Snape knew each other very well. It was precisely because of this understanding that he felt relieved to hand his daughter over to his good friend.
Lucius understood Lily's importance to Snape, just as Snape understood Lucius's pursuit of family supremacy. This was their unspoken bottom line, and the reason why they were destined to end up in the same place.
Lucius didn't believe that Snape became the potion professor at Hogwarts without Dumbledore's operation. The meaning of the arrangement made by the leader of the white camp is worth pondering. Although that person is dead, the struggle between the pure-blood faction led by Malfoy and the pro-Muggle faction led by Dumbledore has never stopped.
Struggle and opportunity coexist, and he is well aware of this.
No matter whether the pure-bloods or the pro-Muggle factions win in the end, or whether a balance is found, with Alicia Malfoy, Snape's goddaughter, around, the Malfoy family will not suffer too much loss.
Snape had a deal with Dumbledore and was the respected Head of Slytherin, enjoying great prestige among the next generation of pure-blood families.
For many years, he had been brooding over the death of Lily Potter, and the usually taciturn Severus was even more gloomy than usual.
He seemed to need something. Lucius tried to persuade him to come out of the shadow and talked to him about getting married, but it was all in vain.
But when Snape said that he wanted to take Alicia as his last disciple, Lucius understood.
Severus needed a new hope.
Malfoy needed Snape, Severus needed Alicia, and Alicia did not reject these and accepted them with pleasure.
This was the only warm transaction Lucius had ever made as a businessman.
In Slytherin, where people will do anything to achieve their goals, they will be each other's most sincere friends if their interests do not conflict.
They will never be on opposite sides of each other, they are never enemies.
