Harry Potter: Reunion with the Enemy
Chapter 59: Wandless and Silent
The excessive amount of chicken blood brandy made Harry dizzy and his heart beat wildly.
"I have to get out of here quickly..." Harry muttered to himself, finding himself torn between thirst and drunkenness. Although the brandy was not as strong as the water of life Harry had been asked to drink at the bar, it was still a strong drink, and Harry could only find a moment of clarity in his mind.
A vague thought was pulling him along - he still needed to go out and see the result of the auction. Had the auction actually started?
Professor Eugene, who introduced them to the Lake Club, was certainly of interest, but Harry was more concerned about a surprise secretly prepared for Draco. He asked Ron to withdraw his Muggle currency exchange quota, and asked Ron to use Mr. Weasley's help to buy the pair of snake rings that Draco liked when he was flipping through the brochure in the ward through a telephone auction.
He didn't know if the money he could give to Ron was enough - Harry was still wearing the Disillusionment Charm and couldn't see his hand in front of him. But after imagining the ring on Draco's slender, beautiful hands, Harry felt that emptying a small part of his own piggy bank might not be a bad thing.
Harry had never noticed that Draco had any material shortcomings - the young master of the Malfoy family always bought what he wanted in the first place, but the Muggle currency exchange limit could create this small shortcoming. Harry had even begun to look forward to his expression when he gave the ring to him.
Harry knew that he should hurry up and think about how to escape from the dungeon, but he couldn't help but let his mind wander. When he pinched his nose and drank chicken blood brandy, he would spend a few minutes missing the breakfast made by Draco. When he wanted to retch because of the dragon dung, he would spend a few minutes missing the smell of Draco. The panting of the dragons around him often woke him up from his sleep. It would be great if there was a Draco living downstairs in the dungeon, so Harry could just rush down the stairs and ask for a hug.
One cannot step into the land of gentleness and then be dragged out.
The Romanian longhorned dragons around him didn't seem to notice that a mysterious companion had been sharing their food for the past few days. The herbal formula developed by Neville, which the goblins mixed into the raw meat, not only made these dragons obedient, but also maintained a normal wound healing speed. Except for the irreversible scars caused by the goblins' long-term abuse and domestication, these dragons that had not seen the sun for many years were still in good growth condition.
Harry repeatedly looked at the group of originally ferocious creatures in the dungeon, and for no reason he thought that sometimes being too valuable was a tragedy.
Dumbledore once studied twelve uses for dragon blood. Dragon nerves and hearts are the materials for making wands. The core of Krum's wand in the Triwizard Tournament was the tendon of the dragon's heart. Dragon skin is the most fashionable and precious clothing material for wizards. The Weasley brothers once spent a lot of money to buy dragon skin clothing to reward themselves. Dragon meat has a healing effect. Hagrid used it to apply on the wound on his face after returning from the giant's territory. Dragon liver and dragon horn have medicinal value and are very expensive in pharmacies. Even dragon dung is Professor Sprout's favorite fertilizer in the Herbology course.
The ferocious animals, which were full of treasures, and the boy who survived the disaster were all cared for and waited for a complete and carefully prepared sacrifice.
At this moment, Harry, who had already brushed shoulders with death in the battle, looked back at the Romanian longhorn dragon. In a few days, or perhaps a few months, the huge monster with smoke coming out of its nostrils might turn into a bottle of blood in a glass jar, a scale on a shield, a coat in a store, a pinch of powder in a pharmacy, and an inner core in a wand.
If Narcissa had not deceived Voldemort at the last moment, she might have become a white tombstone in the cemetery, a small drop of blood on a piece of land in Hogwarts, a page in a newspaper, or a portrait hanging on the wall.
That doesn't seem so bad, Harry thought to himself, with a hint of self-mockery. The painting could be called Saint Potter.
But at this moment he was more concerned about the snake-shaped ring that was hundreds of miles away, and his desire to escape as soon as possible became even stronger.
Harry walked gently to the edge of the cell and touched the narrow gap with his hand, which was just wide enough for a California king snake to pass through. All the experiences of wandless spellcasting that he had encountered before quickly emerged in his mind.
When Harry was a child, he made the glass of the reptile house disappear, blew up his aunt, and made his hair grow wildly overnight. Unfortunately, none of these were achieved under his conscious control.
But these reveal the potential of a wizard who can cast spells without a wand.
Wandless spellcasting is one of the most advanced and complex ways of performing magic, from Tom, the manager of the Broken Axe, who could light the grate with a snap of his fingers, to Snape staring at himself and chanting to resist Quirrell's magic in his first year, as well as Occlumency, Animagus, and Apparition. Without the powerful assistance of a wand, the magical effects produced by the wizard himself require more rigorous control and practice.
How far can a wizard's will reach? Harry took a deep breath. Since happy memories can call out a patronus, determination to achieve a goal can allow the body to teleport hundreds of miles away, and in order to accompany a friend, one can turn into a deer, a black dog, or a mouse - then what about himself at this moment?
It was almost marinated with the taste of dragon shit, and Draco wouldn't like it.
How about starting with a basic finger snap? Harry still remembered meeting the former Minister of Magic Fudge at the Broken Axe after getting off the Knight Bus in his third year. Tom could light the fireplace with a snap of his fingers.
The chicken blood brandy, the strong liquor that my roommate, the Romanian Longhorn, likes to drink, can burn beautiful blue flames. Countless blue flames can be ignited in the entire dungeon.
"Tell me - if I set you and all your companions' drinks on fire, who will be roasted first, the goblins or you and me?" Harry muttered to himself. "They will come to rescue you - after all, every inch of dragon skin can be sold for a lot of gold galleons, and the goblins will not be willing to suffer such a loss."
The Romanian longhorn drooped its eyelids and did not comment.
"Let's start a fire on the ocean floor."
