Harry Potter: Reunion with the Enemy

Chapter 126: New Member of the Slug Club (Part )

Alex stood on tiptoe, trying to hear what Harry was saying. Most of the people gathered in Flourish and Blotts were looking up and listening carefully to the Savior's speech, and the voices not far away drifted into Alex's ears intermittently.

"We have lost too much in the previous goblin war and the fight against Voldemort. The casualties and losses of wizards in the war cannot be recovered and compensated overnight, and my dear friends have been struggling in the shadow of the war for a long time. Now I stand here, just as I have repeatedly expressed my opinions in the media in recent days. I hope that we can avoid the occurrence of war as much as possible on the issue of goblins."

Harry's voice was clearly transmitted to the ears of everyone below the stage through the sound amplification spell, but with Alex's current understanding of wizarding society, he could not fully understand what Harry meant.

"I think that if wizards can make concessions on some issues and reach a consensus with the goblins, we can try to avoid bloodshed, which will be conducive to peaceful coexistence of our entire wizarding community." Harry continued to express his views.

Alex didn't quite understand what Harry meant by "concede", but there was a rustling sound beside him, and a short and fat wizard with a walrus-like silver beard squeezed into the crowd. He was obviously attracted to Harry like Alex.

The slightly bulging-eyed, short-legged old man touched his bald head and looked in Harry's direction thoughtfully. He held a large glass of oak-aged mead and a large bag of pineapple preserves in his hands. His velvet smoking jacket was carefully groomed. He obviously didn't want to stand on the street in such a hot day, but Harry's continued speech made him hesitate to leave. Alex could smell the aroma of the food in his hands.

"For some of the power that the goblins have always pursued, it won't have much impact if we wizards make some concessions...this little concession will be much less than the suffering or sacrifice we might have to endure." There were also children about Alex's age in the crowd. Although they were very curious about the savior, it seemed that the other glittering shops on the street were more attractive than what Harry was talking about. They were tugging at their parents' clothes and wanted to leave.

"Brother Harry!" Alex took advantage of the pause in Harry's speech to stand on tiptoe and wave. Although he did not expect Harry to be able to see him across the crowd, he was very happy that he was now one step closer to the real wizarding world.

"Hey, are his little fans calling him brother now?" The old man who looked like a walrus next to him turned his eyes to Alex. "Potter is indeed a very charming person, just like his mother, but he didn't use this potential too much during school. Of course, he is also very talented... but the mortality rate of the Auror profession is too high..."

"He's my teacher," Alex blurted out, but then he realized that he had promised Draco to keep it a secret from others, so he quickly changed his words and said, "I mean, we know each other. Look, this is his old textbook."

"I'm his teacher. I saw the Hogwarts acceptance letter in your hand. You have to call me Professor Slughorn from now on." Horace Slughorn took over a curled textbook. He recognized Harry's handwriting at a glance. "I didn't know Potter had a younger brother. Are you his distant relative?"

"I'm Muggle-born," Alex replied.

"It doesn't matter. Many Muggle-born wizards are just as good." Slughorn raised his eyebrows at the notes in the book that obviously did not belong to Harry. "Did you mark this yourself? I hope that what is happening now will not have a big impact on Muggle-born wizards - in case the Muggle Prime Minister wants to clearly declare opposition to wizards -"

"In fact, the current Muggle Prime Minister Andre is a friend of our family. Although he is not so likable, he may not be, I mean he will not be against wizards." Alex said uncertainly, because Matthew once mentioned that Andre had a brother who died on the battlefield, which was a concern for Andre.

Slughorn's slightly bulging eyes seemed to light up. "Friends of the Muggle Prime Minister... perhaps in the future there will be more interactions between wizards and the Muggle world."

"These are indeed the marks I made." Alex took back the textbook. "Della - I mean, one of my teachers once showed me his medicine box. I thought it was amazing, especially the truth serum and love potion, which are very powerful. These are very rewarding learning contents." Alex didn't know why he suddenly used the word "return rate" that Matthew often used. Maybe he was used to it. Alex witnessed the whole process when Andre was talking nonsense in the grove because of taking drugs.

Slughorn said with great interest, "In fact, these are some complicated potions that are only taught in sixth grade. What's even more interesting is that I am the Potions teacher."

"Wow, are you the one who taught all this?" Alex's mouth widened slightly. If Slughorn hadn't introduced himself as a teacher, he would have looked like a sophisticated old man who enjoyed material enjoyment at best.

"Of course." Slughorn stroked his silver beard. "Potter was once a member of my club. If you are interested, you can come to my club to chat - Muggle Prime Minister or something like that, maybe not bad. I have many outstanding students. If I want, I can get the best gift baskets from Honeydukes, free Quidditch tickets, first-hand information from the Ministry of Magic and Gringotts..."

"That's great. I'm going to prepare my textbooks first. These are too old. I need the latest editions." Alex seemed to remember the important purpose of this trip. "Then I can see you when school starts, professor."

"If you have the chance to come to my college, you will like it here, little Potter friend." Slughorn said kindly, "Don't say that Slytherins have no courage... I was also someone who fought Voldemort face to face..." Of course, he has not told anyone about introducing the Horcruxes to Tom Riddle.

Alex nodded, and saw that Slughorn had a look on his face as if he was about to collect a new find.

On the other side, Harry had finished his speech and gave a standard and polite smile in response to the flashes from all directions. "I think this is the best way to deal with the current situation. I hope everyone can refer to my advice." Then, Harry ignored anyone who came forward to ask questions and hurried away.

"He seems to be more willing to show up than when he was in school. I always thought he was a reserved child. After graduation, Potter rarely showed off or expressed any opinions when he attended my parties." Slughorn said nonchalantly, "Although I don't agree with his views on goblins, goblins are more annoying than that crazy woman Umbridge. But I guess his statement will affect the positions of most people."
