"No need for you, no need for you. You're just a little kid, how can you hold it!" After saying that, Uncle Tang helped Aunt Tang catch the dustpan and put it on the table.

"It's okay, Third Aunt. I'm used to doing it at home. I can help you with the work in the future."

"Okay, I know our little Meimei is capable, so you won't be able to do any heavy work in the future."

Aunt Tang was afraid that Tang Mei couldn't get on the high stool, so she gently picked Tang Mei up and placed her on the stool.

"Eat quickly." Aunt Tang pushed the bowl full of porridge towards Tang Mei.

Tang Mei sat down and saw a large bowl on the table filled with thick porridge, a bowl filled with red, oily and crispy dried radishes, and another bowl filled with a few slices of bacon.

"Meimei, don't just stand there looking at them. Eat quickly. Your aunt has almost taken out all the food at home." Uncle Tang was obviously very satisfied with the breakfast made by Aunt Tang.

"Uncle San, Aunt San, you don't have to cook something special for me. I'll eat whatever we eat at home." Tang Mei felt a little guilty. Life was not easy for anyone these days.

"It's okay, Meimei, eat quickly. Our family still has surplus food. We'll have no problem getting through this year. Besides, your little tummy can only eat so much." As they spoke, Uncle Tang and Aunt Tang picked up a piece of meat and put it in Tang Mei's bowl.

Tang Mei buried her head in the porridge and meat in the bowl. She could hardly hold back her tears. They tasted so delicious.

The original owner was almost 5 years old, and this was the first time he had eaten meat in his memory. He was treated so well at Uncle Tang’s house.

She silently thought that if Uncle Tang and Aunt Tang didn't change much towards her in the future, she would treat them well when she was able.

"Meimei, take a good rest after dinner. Your third uncle will go to the master's house with your father to do some work. Your third aunt will go to work soon. Wait for me to come back and cook at noon." Third aunt said to Tang Mei with a smile.

"Okay, Third Aunt." Tang Mei also smiled at Third Aunt.

After dinner, Uncle Tang and Aunt Tang went out. Tang Mei found the small sickle and backpack at home and prepared to go out for a walk.

Although there is not much green in Jinjiang Brigade, the houses are scattered around. There is a big pond outside my uncle's house, but it's a pity that it's dry now and there is no water, and the mud has frozen.

Along the way, I met many villagers, some of whom were using hoes to break up the soil in the fields, some of whom had water in their fields, and two people were using pedals to push the rice paddies flat. Except for the villagers who looked too thin and had no strength, they were busy and lively.

Tang Mei followed the path in her memory up a hillside. On the hillside was a tall eucalyptus forest. There was not much grass on the ground. It was estimated that all the edible grass had been dug up by the villagers. As she walked, she chopped the thorns on the roadside with a sickle.

A "thump" sound came from the woods ahead.

Tang Mei walked forward in the direction of the sound with light steps. In front of her, she saw two grey-feathered turtledoves perched on a tree branch, pecking each other's backs.

Tang Mei just wanted to try and see if she could hit it. She used all her strength to throw the sickle in her hand, and it hit a turtledove on the head. Then the turtledove fainted and fell to the ground. The other turtledove heard the noise and flew away.

Tang Mei happily picked up the dove and sickle on the ground and lifted them up, "Hey, they are quite fat." Then she threw them into the backpack, pulled some hay from the roadside to cover them, and walked deeper into the front.

Today's harvest was pretty good. Tang Mei picked up a few yellow mushrooms and some wood ears dried on a dead tree and planned to go home. She would remember the place and come back next time.
