My Rebirth and the Strange Adventure of Black Zhen
Chapter 356: Crisis at Bathory Castle (Prologue)
The reason why the tribal expedition spent a lot of manpower and resources to attack Bathory Castle was to cover up the noise made by Blanque digging tunnels.
Especially at the critical moment when the tunnel is about to be dug into the interior of Bathory Castle, Blanck must keep the construction of the tunnel secret.
Bronk sent his familiar, the Dreadlord Dargwin, to monitor the battlefield situation at Bathory Castle.
Once the fighting in Bathory Castle subsided and there was no major commotion, the familiar Dreadlord Dalgerwin would immediately report to Bronk.
After receiving the signal from his familiar, the Dreadlord Dalgerwen, Bronk immediately issued an order to suspend tunnel digging.
N'Zoth is considered the weakest of the four Old Gods who came to Azeroth.[3] He was imprisoned in an underground cage by the Titans in the early days of Azeroth because of his own evil.[4] N'Zoth is notoriously difficult to encounter, and everything about him remains a mystery.
Basic Information Title Corruptor, God of the Abyss Race Old God (Aberration) Location Ny'alotha Status Active Faction Information Faction Neutral Faction Old God, Black Empire, Emerald Nightmare (hypothetical), Ny'alotha
N'Zoth has had a profound impact on the course of Azeroth's history. Many well-known historical events were manipulated by N'Zoth. The most famous of these was the temptation of Azshara and the Highborne to transform into the naga. Other events included corrupting Neltharion of the Black Dragonflight and turning him into Deathwing, and corrupting the Emerald Dream into the Emerald Nightmare together with Yogg-Saron. It can be said that the existence of N'Zoth has cast a huge shadow over the entire long history of Azeroth.
Little is known about N'Zoth. Most creatures on Azeroth have never even heard of him, let alone seen him. Legends vaguely state that the Old God has been imprisoned in the darkest depths of Azeroth's oceans for thousands of years. It is also rumored that N'Zoth seeks only to twist things that were once noble or pure to a point that even he cannot understand.[1] But this is about to change. As the only remaining Old God, N'Zoth has become the last remaining force to corrupt Azeroth. In order to complete his mission, the naga forces have been fully prepared. After lying dormant in his cage for tens of thousands of years, N'Zoth has carefully planned a plot to free himself.
During the Dark Empire, N'Zoth controlled vast territories east of ancient Kalimdor, including much of what would later be known as the Eastern Kingdoms.[7] Countless years later, Warlord Zon'oz led his warriors in a war against C'Thun and Yogg-Saron in N'Zoth's name.[8] N'Zoth was the first of the Old Gods to be sealed away in the depths of Azeroth after the death of Y'Shaarj.
The War of the Ancients ended, and with it came the terrible Sundering, with Zin-Azshari at the center of the catastrophe. [10] As Queen Azshara struggled to maintain her defenses, a small fish with strange eyes seemed to whisper to her, urging her to give up. Whether it was the whispers that ravaged her, or the wrath of nature that was too great, Azshara finally gave way, and the waves destroyed the Zin-Azshari, and the elves sank to the bottom of the sea. However, it seemed that there was a force that did not want Azshara to die. The fish was actually possessed by N'Zoth, and he spoke directly to Azshara, but was angered by her and revealed his true form, which was only visible as countless eyes. N'Zoth showed Azshara the dark empire he had ruled long ago, and offered her a deal, asking her to surrender in exchange for her life. Azshara was amazed at the splendor of the Dark Empire, but how could the proud and powerful queen easily compromise? She saw that N'Zoth could not easily escape from captivity, so she proposed a counter-proposal: the subjects could be N'Zoth's subordinates, but she had to continue to be the queen and lead the remaining subjects to conquer N'Zoth's enemies and build a second Azshara's empire. She also threatened N'Zoth with death and imprisonment. N'Zoth could only reluctantly agree and transformed Azshara and the high elves into naga.
C'Thun and Yogg-Saron were defeated by Azeroth's defenders. They never expected such fierce resistance, nor did they expect so many fearless heroes to stand up to them. N'Zoth, who lives in the vast ocean of fever dreams and the nameless bones of terror, has never faced a mortal blade. But the Old Gods know that sooner or later the champions of Azeroth will find him and try to defeat him, just as they did with C'Thun and Yogg-Saron. N'Zoth is not afraid. But he can feel that the window of opportunity is closing quickly. The world is traumatized by the war with the Lich King, and the power of the ancient Aspects is exhausted by their struggle against each other.
It's time for the Twilight Judgment to come quickly, and the foreshadowing of the end of the world will surely be brought by the destined destroyer, Deathwing. After the Battle of Grim Batol, Deathwing hid in Deepholm. His natural connection with the earth element allowed him to absorb the hidden energy of this place, enhance his strength, and heal his wounds. N'Zoth also injected him with dark energy, but this powerful force made his form extremely unstable. Then the magma rushing in his blood spewed out from all parts of his body and swallowed him up. Under N'Zoth's orders, the cultists of the Twilight Hammer went to Deepholm and covered his wounds with source armor to prevent his body from falling apart.
At the same time, N'Zoth successfully summoned some elements in the Elemental Plane. Neptulon the Tidehunter and Therazane the Stonemother rejected the Old God, but Ragnaros the Firelord and Al'Akir the Wind Elemental Lord both obeyed the call. N'Zoth promised to release them and let them roam freely in Azeroth as in ancient times.
The key to setting the elemental lords free is Deathwing. When he is ready for battle, he will leap from Deepholm and tear open a rift between the elemental plane and the surface of Azeroth. Deathwing will also become an extension of N'Zoth's will, commanding the Twilight's Hammer and other elementals to launch coordinated attacks. N'Zoth has convinced Deathwing that this will allow him to purge Azeroth of its other dragons and claim the world for himself. In fact, N'Zoth has no intention of granting Deathwing any reward. The Old Gods are simply using the corrupted Aspect to restore the Black Empire to its former glory and shroud the world in shadow. When all is accomplished, N'Zoth will abandon his servants.
Soon after, at N'Zoth's behest, Deathwing unleashed his rage, broke through the boundary between the elemental plane and the real world, flew out of Deepholm and returned to Azeroth. His return triggered a series of natural disasters, which people called the Cataclysm. N'Zoth fiddled with the fire in Deathwing's veins, causing him to suffer endless torment in pain, allowing his rage to burn more and more, igniting the world.
The Twilight's Hammer is always active during the Hour of Hour, serving N'Zoth and Deathwing.
As Deathwing unleashed chaos, N'Zoth also ordered Cho'gall and the Twilight's Hammer to emerge from the shadows. Although many cultists had been hiding for years, they never stopped their activities. Many new cultists joined, including powerful figures such as Archbishop Benedictus of the Cathedral of Light. Deathwing landed in Stormwind City, but did not destroy it. Instead, he let the people of the city live and corrupted them. Archbishop Benedictus tortured the desperate people, and many of them converted to the Twilight's Hammer sect.
Cho'gall brought many believers to the coastal highlands north of Ironforge, where farmland was extensive. The sect raided the Wildhammer dwarves and Dragonmaw orcs who originally lived there, occupied an ancient fortress, and named it Twilight Bastion by Cho'gall as a base camp. The believers worshiped invisible gods here, and the void energy gradually seeped out of the spire and spread to the nearby land, corrupting all life in the shadows. The entire area became dark in the distortion, and this area was soon called Twilight Highlands.
Far to the south, another group of cultists built a fortress in Blackrock Mountain and forged new weapons there. They used void magic to resurrect Nefarian and Synsanya. Although the two dragons still had some memories, they were now loyal to the Twilight Cult. The Cult wanted their knowledge of making monsters. Synsanya began to continue to build the Twilight Dragonflight, and Nefarian continued to breed a new generation of colorful dragons.
The Alliance and the Horde launched a counterattack against the Twilight Hammer at the same time, but they did not fight in unison. The Wildhammer dwarves found the Alliance, the Red Dragonflight also assisted the Alliance, and the Dragonmaw Clan reestablished contact with the orcs of the Horde. Dilona and the Horde purged the Twilight Cult and killed the devout Cho'gall.
Although the Twilight's Hammer suffered heavy losses, it did not disappear. Archbishop Benedictus succeeded Cho'gall as the leader of the sect and chose a new true name - Twilight Father.
Al'Akir, the Wind Elemental Lord
Al'Akir, the Elemental Lord of the Wind.
When the two factions turned against each other, Deathwing released the servants of the Old Gods into the world.
At the southernmost tip of Kalimdor, Al'Akir and his elementals came upon a rift in Uldum called the Skywall. The plane shift had shaken the elements, exposing Uldum and the deadly secret hidden within it - the Forge of Origination.
The Forge of Origin can wipe out all life on Azeroth and then allow life to evolve again.
Al'Akir hoped that this could be used to his advantage.
Another servant of N'Zoth, Queen Azshara, is also ready to make a move. Now, she has sent her loyal naga to an underwater area called Vashj'ir, where a rift leads to the elemental realm of Neptulon the Tidehunter. The water elementals have rejected N'Zoth's call, and they must suffer. However, Azshara's goal is not just to destroy Neptulon, but to control the power of the ocean, so that the sea route connecting the continent can be cut off and they cannot unite to fight against N'Zoth's servants.
Shortly after the Cataclysm, Deathwing and a Twilight's Hammer force assembled near Mount Hyjal. They performed a ritual that opened a rift in the Firelands and summoned Ragnaros, the Firelord. The freed elementals were in a frenzy, and they rushed towards the World Tree Nordrassil. N'Zoth wanted to set the World Tree on fire so that Azeroth would never regain its power. The druids of the Cenarion Circle awakened the sleeping wild gods: the giant wolf Goldrinn and the turtle Tortolla, and brought back the spirit of Cenarius. Together, they repelled the Twilight's Hammer and Ragnaros.
The dragon army was eager to destroy Deathwing and the Twilight's Hammer, but they wanted to heal the world first, but Deathwing found out. He sent Ragnaros and the fire elementals to attack Mount Hyjal again. At this time, Deathwing found that Thrall, a mere orc, could pose a threat to him, so he sent Fandral Staghelm to deal with Thrall. Fandral was bitter and full of hatred, and his only wish was to destroy Azeroth, and the Twilight's Hammer could give him strength. Ragnaros personally reshaped Fandral's body with flames. Although this night elf lost his original appearance, he gained the ability to control the fire element and became the most powerful officer under the Lord of Fire and the first flame druid.
After visiting Feralas, Thrall entered the timestream, found Nozdormu, and freed him from his imprisonment.
This experience changed Nozdormu. In the time stream, he learned that it was the Old Gods who corrupted Deathwing, gave birth to the Emerald Nightmare, and a series of dark events in history. At the same time, he also learned that the rise of the Eternal Dragons was also the result of the careful planning of the Old Gods. The disorder of time and space that has attracted his attention over the years is caused by the dark power of the Old Gods. And the identity of the Eternal Dragon Legion makes him even more uneasy.
That leader was himself.
In a distant future, he was corrupted by the Old Gods and renamed Murozondo. It was his shadow that created the Eternal Dragon Legion and caused turmoil in sacred time.
The End of Twilight Decision
After many defeats, Deathwing had no strength left to fight, and he gathered his forces at Wyrmrest Temple. Even N'Zoth sent his minions to join the siege. At the call of the Old Gods, a group of creatures known as the En'raqi (or "Faceless Ones", including the legendary Faceless Warlord Zon'roz) arrived at Wyrmrest Temple and joined the black dragons. [12] The noble Aspects, the Alliance, and the Horde formed a coalition to fight Deathwing's minions, and both sides paid a heavy price: many Twilight Cultists died in the battle, including the Twilight Father, and the coalition's temple defenders fell one after another.
However, the sacrifice of the Aspects created the conditions for the coalition's wrath to focus on Deathwing, making it difficult for him to stop the coalition from strengthening the Dragon Soul. Thrall and the Aspects turned the artifact on Deathwing and drove him out of Wyrmrest Temple. Deathwing hoped to escape to Deepholm and make a comeback, but the defenders of Wyrmrest Temple pursued him in the air, slowly sapping his power. N'Zoth felt that his servants were on the verge of defeat and the Old God's plan was shattered, so he burned his boats and poured more power into Deathwing. The gathered energy was too strong, causing Deathwing's already unstable body to begin to crack. Thrall turned the Dragon Soul, and each of the Aspects poured their power into the artifact. Thrall used the Dragon Soul to penetrate Deathwing's body, and the blast of energy destroyed his tortured mind and body.
And just like that, N'Zoth's attempt to bring about the Hour of Twilight failed.
