HP: Embrace the Darkness

As they were about to walk out of the library, Elise accidentally saw a strange room.

Why do you say it is strange?

Because it is unlike other parts of the library, lined with bookshelves and filled with books.

The room was frighteningly empty. There was only an object covered by a white cloth, which looked like a mirror.

Elise guessed.

Aces was keenly aware of Elise's slowed down pace. He turned back doubtfully and followed Elise's gaze towards the room.

This strange room also attracted his attention. He turned around and walked toward the room, followed closely by Elise.

The room was large and empty, so empty that it could be seen at a glance, so they came directly to the thing covered with white cloth.

As soon as the two of them stood still, Elise consciously stepped forward to lift the white cloth. The next second, Asseth raised his hand to stop her movement.

Asseth looked at Elise seriously and lectured:

"Elise, as a Slytherin, you should learn to be cautious and not touch things you don't understand."

After saying that, Asseth took out his wand and cast several checking spells on this strange mirror-shaped thing.

After making sure everything was safe, he motioned to Elise to lift the white cloth.

The white cloth was lifted, revealing a huge mirror.

Aces was still wondering why such a large mirror was placed alone in the library.

Elise seemed to have seen something, and tears flowed down involuntarily.

Artes noticed something strange about Elise, took a step forward to block her view of the mirror, and then handed her a handkerchief.

He didn't ask her what she saw, and just waited quietly for her to regain her mood.

While waiting, Asseth looked at the mirror carefully.

The mirror was large and quaint, and something seemed to be written on the edge. The room was too dim to see clearly, and Asseth couldn't help but take two steps closer.

Unexpectedly, a grown-up version of Asseth appeared in the mirror.

Artes didn't care to study the words engraved on the mirror. He looked at Artes in the mirror curiously.

Asseth in the mirror is still young, looking like he is only seventeen or eighteen years old.

He was using a magic spell, and Asseth's eyes lit up. This was a flying spell that he had not yet researched. Now he looked at his own movements in the mirror more seriously.

It seemed that the gesture was different from what he expected. Maybe he could give it a try, Asseth thought silently.

When Asseth was addicted to the flying spell, Elise beside him had already sorted out her emotions, raised her head and apologized to Ass in embarrassment.

"I'm sorry, sir."

Asseth came back to his senses and was puzzled by Elise's apology.

It was clear that she had not caused him any trouble in any sense, so her apology was meaningless.

Aces looked at the thin girl carefully, and after confirming that she was sincerely sorry, he said helplessly:

"Elise, you don't need to be sorry for this, you didn't do anything wrong."

After a pause, Asseth continued.

"The first thing I ask of you after you follow me is not to apologize casually, especially when you are not wrong."

Asseth knew that persuasion was useless, so he simply made the request directly to Elise.

This request made Elise stunned for a moment, and then she nodded heavily to show that she remembered it.

Seeing that she remembered it, Asseth then turned back to study this strange mirror.

The top of the mirror should be its name, and Asseth read it softly:

"Eris? Is she the goddess who symbolizes discord?"

"No, that's not right."

Aces felt something was wrong, and then looked down.

"Well, looking at it from the other side, Eris should be longing." Asseth said to himself.

There is also a sentence engraved on the frame on the side of the mirror.

"What I show is not your mirror image, but your heart's desire."

Aces read it softly.

Elise listened to Asseth's words, her face a little tangled.

"Interesting, eager?"

Aces looked at the magic mirror with interest, so was the flying spell he just saw his desire?

No, it's not.

It should be that the magic mirror can only read this on him.

Aces knew how many alchemy products he had on his body to protect him from prying eyes. Coupled with his Occlumency, it was normal that he could not be detected.

"What do you want to say, Elise."

After explaining, Asseth immediately lost interest in the magic mirror. It was just a novel mirror. If he wanted to, he could make it himself, but it might not be that powerful.

Hearing the helplessness in Asseth's tone, Elise was a little at a loss.

Asseth sighed, he didn't accept a subordinate, he must have caused trouble for himself.

Having said that, Asseth said to Elise as patiently as possible:

"Elise, you don't need to be so careful. Even I can't force you to do something you don't want to do."

"Remember, you are yourself first, and then I am a follower. If you can't do it now, you can learn slowly."

Elise nodded in understanding.

No one had said such words to her before, which made her feel unspeakably moved.

Seeing that the tears she had finally wiped away just now were about to fall again, Asseth quickly opened his mouth to divert her attention.

"It's getting late, we should go."

Seeing the reluctance in Elise's eyes, Artes couldn't bear it. He could probably guess that what she saw was her parents.

He sighed and added.

"If you don't want to leave, you can come back next time. It's too late now."

Merlin knew, he sighed so much today. Aces complained silently in his mind.

Hearing the unquestionableness in Asseth's words, Elise did not object, but followed Asses obediently and left.
