【HP】Elvira’s Unicorn Garden
Chapter 197 "We can be completely unreserved in front of each other."
"My dear, if you had come any later, I'm afraid we would have had to contact St. Mungo's." When Mrs. Morris came out of the pharmacy, there were several bottles of potions of various sizes on the tray. Just looking at these things could make one's stomach churn.
Elvira's situation was rather special. In order to prevent emergencies, she always kept a batch of magic potions she needed in her dormitory, and also deposited another batch in the school hospital.
Mrs. Morris placed the tray with the potions on the table next to the bed. Elvira on the bed was already listless. She tilted her head and was unwilling to move away no matter how the blond boy persuaded her, as if it was far-fetched to take another look at the bottles of potions.
"This is really unexpected, kid, but I don't want you to come to the school hospital to see me." Mrs. Morris helped the girl on the bed up. The blond boy beside the bed stacked the pillows on the bedside and helped Elvira lean on it. "Did something happen? It happened suddenly so there was no time to adjust, or did you not react?"
The first thing she was fed was a bottle of light blue medicine that was only the size of a thumb. Just the smell of it made Elvira feel uncomfortable all over, and when she drank it, her stomach felt churning.
"I can't hide it from Mrs. Morris." She smiled faintly. The girl looked even paler and tired. The potion she just drank did not make her feel energetic at all. "These... do you have to drink them all?"
Elvira tentatively asked Mrs. Morris. Even though she guessed the answer in her heart, she still felt a little bit of disbelief. The mixed smell of these potions almost suffocated her.
"My dear, do you think it's not enough?" Mrs. Morris took a bottle of magic potion the size of her palm, pulled out the cork and handed it to the girl on the bed. Then there was another small bottle, and then the magic potion that Elvira came into contact with every day. "There is something that may make you happy. There are two more bottles in three hours. I will contact your dean and sister. You may have to stay here for a few days."
It was rare for the lady to say this rather cruel fact in a joking tone. Only after she watched the girl drink several bottles of magic potion did Mrs. Morris feel relieved.
Mrs. Morris returned to the innermost pharmacy to continue with the remaining work, and the remaining time was left to the boy and girl.
Abraxas sat on a chair beside the bed, tidying up the corners of Elvira's quilt with his head down and said nothing. At this moment, the boy inexplicably began to feel a sense of relief in his heart.
If it were any later... he couldn't imagine it.
"Abu! Can you put this bottle back for me, and then bring me the other potion?" Elvira held an empty crystal bottle in her hand and shook it in front of Abraxas' eyes, her pale face showing an excited look. "After drinking all this, you may not need to eat dinner."
Her face was filled with smiles. She took the crystal bottle and drank the potion without anyone saying anything. There was not even a trace of struggle on her face.
"I remember that Vivian used to have to be coaxed into drinking a potion, not to mention how resistant she was. She even wanted to pour out the contents of the bottle behind everyone's back." The young man pursed his lips as if talking to himself, his lowered eyes slowly raised and finally fixed on the crystal bottle in the man's hand, which still had half of the potion left.
Vivian tried at first, but failed every time.
She only dared to do these things behind Mr. Gellert's or Alice's back, or behind the butler's, the etiquette lady's, or him.
When Vivian was at the manor, she was often accompanied by a therapist, or there were servants or house-elves watching her, and any movement would be stopped immediately.
Abraxas was not used to, and did not want to see Elvira chatting and laughing with him with a relaxed expression when facing something that she had been so afraid of in the past.
He began to feel fear, and even started to have the urge to snatch those extremely disgusting things away from his beloved girl.
It seemed that as long as this was done, his Vivian would no longer have to face those things that could entangle with her life at any time.
"Abu, you still remember all this?" Elvira pretended to be surprised, her eyes curved into a pair of crescents, and the last empty bottle was returned to the tray. She smiled at him and said softly, "These things always taste bad, but they help me stay with my brother and sister, and the people who care about me."
"So no matter how much I dislike it, I can't resist it." She stretched out her hand and put it in front of the boy's eyes, shaking it... shaking it... just like the small flowers growing in the wind beside the swing bench by the lake that she and he loved the most. "Besides, I will never do these things in the future. If people find out, I will be laughed at."
Beautiful, fragile and tough, the slender flower stems seem to be easily broken by the wind, but in fact these extremely fragile creatures have their roots deeply buried under the soil, tightly intertwined.
Even if they are broken, the roots buried deep in the soil can support their next regrowth.
"I won't!" The boy's suppressed rationality was gradually taken over by anxiety. Abraxas realized his own mistake and lowered his head again. "I won't laugh at Vivian. Vivian, you can believe me. You are just you in front of me. No matter what happens."
"You don't have to suppress or hide anything in front of me. You can laugh and cry loudly. You can release everything in front of me, Vivian. I am not someone else." He said in a trembling voice. Abraxas seemed to be unable to suppress his emotions and suddenly stepped forward to hug Elvira tightly on the bed. "We can be unreserved in front of each other, right?"
He spoke in a muffled voice, which was tentative but more like begging.
He tried his best to lower his tone, thinking that this would cover up his recent loss of control.
"I'll just be staying for a while, not too long. If Abu misses me, he can come to see me like before." Elvira raised her hand and hugged the boy who wanted to merge with her like a baby bird or a young animal. This had become a subconscious action. She smiled and said, "But remember to bring your notes, okay? I don't want to miss any classes because of this."
Elvira's thoughts were gradually filled with confusion. She tried to comfort him again and again, but she didn't understand why her words, which were clearly meant to comfort him, could cause him to burst out with emotions.
Abu is depending on her.
Will Abu in the future depend on her like he does now?
A feeling called satisfaction gradually filled her chest. It was inappropriate, but this thought began to take root and sprout in a despicable way, and then enveloped her whole body.
"Abu, aren't you going to dinner?" Elvira finally asked him after the man let go. Some of her snow-white hair was still sticky on the boy when she separated, as if silently shouting that she was reluctant to leave. "The flowers on the table will wither if you don't take care of them."
Her voice was gentle, and it was only after this reminder that Abraxas noticed that the petals of the several bunches of sunflowers he had casually placed on the table had begun to wilt, and the vase on the table was empty.
Abraxas had anticipated everything when he came here, but now, these sunflowers have found a better place.
