A day of learning magic at Hogwarts

Chapter 17 Hovering Curse

What they learned in Charms class was a simple spell called the "Hovering Charm".

Its effect can make an item stagnant in mid-air for a short period of time (the specific stasis time is related to the wizard's proficiency).

It's a very simple little spell, but it doesn't seem to be very practical, at least in daily life.

Professor Filius Flitwick promised everyone that most of the students in the class have mastered the use of the "Hovering Charm" and they will continue to learn the more advanced and more practical "Levitation Charm".

This Charms class was taught by Hufflepuff students and Slytherin students, both houses.

However, even though it is only the first day of school, Slytherin students have obviously begun to cling to each other.

Most of the students in Slytherin House are young wizards from pure-blood families, so many of them are old acquaintances... They all seem to be arrogant and arrogant, which is obvious to the Hufflepuff students. Some look down upon it.

For example, sitting in front of Ian were three Slytherin boys who were inseparable. They were obviously a small group.

The leader, a boy with a pale face, a tapered chin, and sparse light-blond hair that reflects the severe middle-aged baldness of British men, was clearly the dominant figure in his group. There are also two sturdy little fat guys, who are on his left and right like personal bodyguards.

Disdain was evident as they turned around and passed the feathers used in the spell casting to several Hufflepuff students.

……

"Very good!" Professor Flitwick's sharp voice resounded throughout the Charms classroom:

"Everyone seems to have understood it almost. You can try it yourself; your companion will throw the feather up, and then you will cast a spell to make it float in mid-air."

"This is so easy!" The pale boy in front, the future bald man, said confidently, "Crabbe, come and help me throw the feathers."

One of the fat guys next to him quickly stood up as if obeying the order.

He threw the feathers that Professor Flitwick had distributed to everyone in front of the boy.

The pale boy sitting on the seat raised the wand in his hand and shouted:

"SuspensionFloat!"

The feathers in mid-air were obviously stagnant for a moment; although the time was not long, it could be clearly seen with the naked eye.

"Well done, Mr. Malfoy!" Professor Flitwick did not hesitate to praise him. "Although it is a bit rough, it is undoubtedly a good start!"

The boy named Malfoy sat down again with a proud look on his face.

Professor Flitwick's eyes moved back and he saw Ian in the back row holding a wand in his hand and making gestures.

"Mr. Drizzt, are you interested in giving it a try?" he suggested.

"Of course, sir!" Ian quickly stood up and responded.

"Ernie, do me a favor." Then he nodded toward Ernie McMillan.

Ernie, who understood this, quickly stood up and picked up the feather...

Ian slowly raised his wand. The unicorn's fur felt very comfortable to the touch, and it also made him faintly focus more...

As the feathers were thrown up into the sky, they slowly fell.

Ian's mind began to quickly recall some details.

He spoke clearly and in a loud voice: "Hover quickly!"

The feather stagnated in mid-air for an instant, motionless; after almost ten seconds, it slowly fell to the ground.

"Wow!" The students around him exclaimed.

Even a layman can see that Ian's spell is used quite well.

"Wonderful, perfect!" Professor Flitwick also gave a high evaluation at this time, "Very few students can cast a complete hovering spell in the first class; everyone should learn more from Mr. Drizzt study!"

……

Charms class ended soon, which also meant that all their morning classes were over.

Justin Finch-Fletchley struggled to catch up with Ian.

"Ian! Ian!" he shouted.

"What's wrong?" Ian stopped and looked at his roommate curiously.

"How did you do it?" Justin asked hurriedly, "Whether it is "Transfiguration" or "Charms" class, you are the best student in the class; obviously you are like me, They all grew up in the Muggle world and have never been exposed to magic before..."

"How do you do it?" Ian replied somewhat matter-of-factly, "Because I have already read Miranda Gorshak's "Standard Charms, Elementary" and learned the techniques and details of the 'Hovering Curse' , that’s why it can be used so easily!”

"I watched a little bit during the summer vacation..." Justin said hesitantly, "But after watching it, I couldn't remember it at all..."

"Read it a few times and you'll remember it all!" Ian explained simply.

"Okay..." Justin nodded, but judging from the expression on his face, it was obvious that he was not comfortable with it.

This is normal, and Ian understands it perfectly.

Justin Finch-Fletchley is only an 11-year-old child now, and he has a good family background in the Muggle world. He should have lived a pampered life since he was a child.

Few children of this age can read books on their own without external pressure.

Soon, Justin put all the previous things behind him and began to think about lunch.

"I hope lunch will taste better," he complained. "The sausage for breakfast felt a little too greasy..."

He began to chat with Ian and Ernie MacMillan who came later:

"There seems to be a Potions class in the afternoon classes. This is the class I'm most interested in!"

"Preparing various potions with various functions is what the legendary wizard should do."

"I can't wait any longer..."
