A day of learning magic at Hogwarts

Chapter 16 Transfiguration and Charms Lesson

Ian stood up, his face looking very serious.

He stared at the podium intently, as if he wanted to find traces of previous animals on it.

"Sorry, I'm a little curious, Professor McGonagall!" Ian pointed to the podium in front of him and asked softly: "Did this podium really turn into a pig just now?"

"Or, it just looks like a pig, but it's actually still a podium..."

"As you can see, of course it really turned into a pig!" Professor McGonagall replied calmly.

"No, no, no!" Ian shook his head repeatedly and continued to ask, "I mean, when the podium just looked like a pig, did it have the complete functions of a pig?"

"For example, if we killed it just now, would its pork be edible?"

"Then if you eat pork, will it turn into a ball of sawdust in your stomach?"

Ian's question sounds a little funny.

Several Ravenclaw students at the table next to him couldn't help laughing and couldn't help but snicker.

But Professor McGonagall remained expressionless.

She slowly said: "This is a very complicated issue, involving a very profound principle about transfiguration——"

"Gamp's basic transformation law!" she blurted out:

"Transfiguration cannot create everything at will, and many things cannot be achieved through it."

"Wizards cannot conjure food, time, and life through transformation..."

"Of course, such advanced questions are not something you first-year students need to be exposed to," Professor McGonagall's voice gradually became stern again: "You only need to learn the most basic things now."

"Sit down, Mr. Drizzt."

Ian had no choice but to sit down, his eyes still full of doubts.

"The most basic content, turn a match into a needle!"

As Professor McGonagall spoke, she distributed matches to each student in the class one after another.

"Imagine the appearance of a needle in your mind... Keep that scene in your mind until it is finalized, without any slight changes... Now, let the match in front of you and the needle in your mind overlap. …”

"The spell is 'Acus'! Note, the accent is at the back... Now, raise your wands..." Professor McGonagall ordered.

"Arkus!" Ernie yelled from the side.

But the match in front of him didn't show any change.

"Mr. Macmillan!" Professor McGonagall glared at him sternly, "I just said, the emphasis is on the back... Also, the spell only needs to be read, not shouted."

"Hug...sorry..." Ernie was startled and stammered.

Justin on the other side seemed to have messed up too. He chanted the spell, but instead of causing the match to change, it actually started to catch fire.

Fortunately, Professor McGonagall's attention was not on him. He quickly put out the fire and pretended that nothing happened.

"Akus!" Ian also raised his wand at this time.

The small wooden stick of the match began to change. It was obviously sharper than before. Although it didn't have the texture of metal, at least it had changed.

"How did you do it?" Ernie said in surprise.

Professor McGonagall, who was passing by, also cast an affirmative look at Ian.

Everyone started waving their wands and poking at the match in front of them.

But this is not easy. As Professor McGonagall said before, Transfiguration is a very complicated subject.

Ian had obtained this magic in the "Beginner's Guide to Transformation" during the summer vacation. He also tried to practice it, but unfortunately there was no success.

But with such a competent teacher standing behind them to give guidance, everything seems to have become much easier.

The use of magic is not just waving a staff stupidly. There are also the little skills that wizards master in these magics (which cannot be seen in textbooks), as well as the wizards' control of their own mental power...

Until the end of this class, there were still not many people who had seen changes in their matches.

Among them, the change of Ian's wood is the most obvious. Its appearance has completely taken the shape of a needle, and it even has a little luster from a distance.

"Well done, Mr. Drizzt!"

"Hufflepuff plus one!"

Ian suddenly felt that the eyes of the students in the entire classroom were focused on him.

……

"Extra points?" After leaving the Transfiguration classroom, Ian asked his two companions, Ernie and Justin, very curiously.

"It's the scores related to the Academy Cup!" Ernie quickly replied:

"Each college will have its own unique points system. Students who perform well will receive extra points from teachers, and students who perform poorly will of course be deducted... At the end of each semester, the college with the most points will win the final college. cup'!"

"Sounds pretty exciting!" Ian thought to himself.

"It is said that Hufflepuff has been at the bottom of the House Cup for seven consecutive years..." Justin sighed, "Cedric told me this morning."

"Is it so miserable?" Ian felt himself shocked.

Ian didn't pay too much attention to the Academy Cup.

Because the next spell class is about to start.

The Charms class is located in the corridor on the left hand side of the fourth floor, not far from the restricted area that Professor Dumbledore said could threaten people's lives.

Ian couldn't help but take another look at the corridor on the other side, and subconsciously kept a distance from that side. .

The teacher of the Charms class is the short professor who attracted much attention at the banquet before, and then helped Ian repair the stairs this morning——

Professor Filius Flitwick, who is also the Head of Ravenclaw House.

However, this class, together with Ian and other Hufflepuff students, took place with Slytherin House and the two houses.

The short Professor Flitwick had to stand on a pile of books to reach the desk...

Before he started the class, he took out the roster and called the names.

After getting to know all the students——

Like Professor McGonagall, Professor Flitwick also spent half of the class emphasizing the importance of Charms with them...and then demonstrated the Crushing Curse, Repairing Curse and Flying Curse in front of everyone.

But these are very advanced and complex spells.

For first-year students like them, these things are also beyond their reach.

And what they need to learn in this class is obviously something simpler.
