From Beauxbatons to Hogwarts

Chapter 48 Forbidden Forest

Soon, it will be the weekend.

At nine o'clock in the evening, after seeing off the Weasley twins and Cedric.Four first years stood in Calvin's office - Harry, Ron, Neville and Draco.

"Follow me." Calvin said, lighting a lamp and leading them out. "I think you should think twice if you want to violate school rules in the future, right?"

They strode across the dark field.Neville kept sniffling.Harry had no idea what punishment they would receive. But he believed that Calvin would not embarrass them too much.

The moonlight was very bright, but clouds kept coming over to cover the moon, plunging them into darkness.Harry could see the lighted windows in Hagrid's cabin. Then they heard a shout in the distance.

"Is that you, Calvin? Come on, I'm leaving."

Harry's heart swelled with joy: if they were to labor with Hagrid, so much the better. He showed this excitement on his face.

However, I heard Calvin say: "Don't let the excitement get to your head, Harry. You are here to accept punishment."

Draco had a sarcastic look on his face. Potter always looked like this, without a hint of dignity.

"And you, Draco, rein in your arrogance. Don't get lost in the Forbidden Forest for a while."

After hearing this, Ron couldn't help but snorted, and Draco stopped suddenly.

"Forbidden Forest?" he followed, his voice far less calm than usual, "We can't go in in the middle of the night - there's everything in there - I heard there are werewolves."

Neville gripped Harry's sleeve tightly and let out a choked sob.

"Do you want to go back, Neville?" Calvin asked, looking at the trembling Neville, "I told you you don't have to come."

Neville let go of Harry and shook his head.

"Okay, just follow Hagrid and I. Nothing will happen in the Forbidden Forest." Calvin comforted the four little wizards, "Believe me, I will bring you out intact."

Hagrid strode toward them out of the darkness, Fang following behind.Hagrid carried his huge stone bow and a full quiver of arrows slung over his shoulder.

"It's almost time," he said. "I've been waiting for half an hour. How about it, Calvin?"

"Sorry, I was late to teach a few students before." Calvin explained.

"What are we going to do tonight, Hagrid?" Ron asked eagerly. Is there any better confinement than being able to adventure in the Forbidden Forest with Calvin and Hagrid?

"Ron, don't get too excited," Hagrid said, "Listen carefully, what we are going to do tonight is very dangerous, and I don't want anyone to be in danger. Come with me here first."

He led them to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, raised the lamp high, and pointed at a narrow path that gradually disappeared into the depths of the dark forest. They looked into the Forbidden Forest, and a dark wind blew their hair.

"Look over there," said Hagrid. "See that shiny thing on the ground? It's silvery white? That's unicorn blood. A unicorn in the Forbidden Forest was wounded by something. It's heavy. This is the second time in a week. I found one dead last Wednesday. We're going to fight to find that poor unicorn and bring it out of its misery."

"What if the thing that hurt the unicorn finds us first?" Malfoy asked, his voice trembling with uncontrollable fear.

"Don't worry, Draco," Calvin held Harry and Draco's shoulders, "Hagrid and I will protect you."

"I took Ron and this little fat guy with me. What's your name?" Hagrid asked the pale Neville.

"Neville, Neville Longbottom." There was a hint of crying in his voice.

"Stop crying and follow me later."

"Then, you two will follow me." Calvin looked at Harry and Draco with a smile.

The two men looked at each other with hatred and said in unison: "No!"

"Oh no, this won't work. You have no right to refuse my grouping. If anything dangerous happens in the Forbidden Forest due to internal strife, I will punish you severely." Calvin asked the two to shake hands with bad intentions.

"Think about what I said to you, Harry, Draco."

The two snorted and reluctantly held their hands together, then quickly separated and wiped them on their clothes.

"Let's go!" Hagrid shouted in a rough voice. "If anyone finds a unicorn, shoot green sparks, do you understand? If anyone is in trouble, shoot red sparks, and we will all come to find you. Okay, everyone, be more careful."

The Forbidden Forest was dark and silent. They walked a while further and came to a fork in the road. Ron, Neville and Hagrid took the left path, while Draco, Harry and Calvin took the right path.

They walked in silence, staring at the ground.Every now and then, a ray of moonlight shines down from the branches above, illuminating a silver-blue bloodstain on the fallen leaf.

Harry could see that Calvin was angry.

"Could it be the werewolf that killed the unicorn?" Harry asked.

"Unlikely," said Calvin. "It's not easy to catch a unicorn. They are animals with strong magic."

They walked past a mossy tree stump.Harry could hear the gurgling sound of water; there was obviously a stream somewhere nearby. The winding path was still littered with spots of unicorn blood.

Calvin bent over and looked at the blood, determining the time and severity of the unicorn's injury.

"It's badly injured. It can't go too far. We'll find it soon."

They continued through the thick, dark woods.Harry kept looking nervously over his shoulder. He had a very uncomfortable feeling, as if someone was watching them.He was glad to have Calvin with him, it gave him peace of mind.

"Professor, who could have hurt the unicorn?" Draco suddenly asked.

"You really want to know?" Calvin glanced at him.

"Yes Professor, I might be able to come up with something good."

"Forget it, you don't want to know."

They walked for nearly half an hour, getting deeper and deeper into the forest. Later, the trees became extremely dense and the path was almost impassable. The blood stains on the ground are getting denser and denser. There was a lot of blood splattered on the roots of a tree, as if the poor animal had been writhing in agony nearby.Calvin could see a clearing ahead through the tangled branches of an old oak tree.

"Stop!" Calvin whispered, stretching out his hands to stop Harry and Draco from behind.

Something white shone on the ground.Little by little they approached it.

It was a unicorn, a dying unicorn. It was beautiful, even though it was almost dead. Its long legs were bent unnaturally, as if it had gone through a struggle.Silver soft hairs are scattered on the fallen leaves like scattered pearls.
