Soaring at Hogwarts

Chapter 39 By the Great Lake

Professor McGonagall's office and library are also located on the second floor, a small study next to the corridor.

Looking out the office window is a vast expanse of green space and Quidditch pitches.

The two Heseltines sat in front of Professor McGonagall in an orderly manner, accepting the professor's scrutiny.

"If you don't go enjoy the sunshine outside, what are you doing here?"

"Uh, Professor," Samantha said sheepishly, "I wanted to ask...can I get that divination book back?"

Professor McGonagall looked at her sternly.

Samantha kicked Ian calmly, signaling for him to help.

"Professor, I want to read that book," Ian said. "I recently heard the centaurs in the Forbidden Forest say something about astrology, and I want to learn about it."

This is not entirely a lie.

Samantha clasped her hands together and begged, "Please, Professor."

The professor's expression softened slightly.

"The centaurs have been observing astronomical phenomena for centuries," Professor McGonagall said fairly. "I can't say that they have gained nothing at all, but even the centaurs themselves dare not say that their divination is completely correct.

So what you should learn most from them is magical healing and astronomy, not uncertain astrology, Mr. Heseltine. "

"I understand, Professor. I'm just - a little curious." Ian said eagerly.

Professor McGonagall stood up, took the books out of the bookshelf, and returned them to them: "I can return them to you this time, but please don't distract me in my class again, Miss Heseltine."

"I will, Professor," Samantha said obediently.

"Well, enjoy your weekend, ladies and gentlemen."

…………The spring light is dawning in the Grain Rain, and the mountains and rivers are dark green. The hoopoe sings in the leaves, and duckweed grows in the water.

Considering that there might be other people in the lounge, and that what Ian was about to say was difficult to announce to the public, the two walked out of the castle and came to the deserted yew tree by the lake.

The strip-shaped yew leaves grow in spirals and cast a thin green shade. The large lake next to it reflects the skylight, and the shadow of a giant squid can be seen dimly under the water.

"Professor Quirrell?"

Samantha exclaimed, then immediately scanned the surroundings vigilantly, and was relieved when she found that no one was coming.

Ian talked about the Philosopher's Stone in such detail that Samantha's jaw dropped.

"I thought Quirrell just had a problem with his teaching skills." Samantha sighed, "He actually turned to Voldemort. Hey, he shouldn't have gone out to find some 'first-hand practical experience' - Professor Dumbledore Do you know this?"

"I think he never expected that Quirrell would meet Voldemort while traveling, but when he returned to school, he must have realized something." Ian replied, "As for now, it must be clear."

"So, what is the principal's plan?" Samantha asked curiously, "You know, right?"

"He's a test," Ian replied enigmatically.

"speak English!"

"You don't have to worry about it so much. Just know how to keep your distance from Quirrell."

"Okay - what does this have to do with unicorns... Oh, I understand." Samantha frowned and said immediately, "I want to join the ranger."

Ian hesitated.

Samantha interrupted Ian's thinking and said without any doubt: "Don't think about it, I will definitely go."

"I just asked you to stay away from him...I shouldn't have said so much to you..."

"If you have time to complain, you might as well see when he might take action."

Ian opened the divination book.

"On May [-]th, Mars enters Aries. It may be around the [-]th."

It's late April and that day will be here soon.

"Can you be more specific?"

"It's difficult. The planets are most powerful when they change signs, so it's possible in the days before and after the [-]th."

"That's it, let's just be more careful."

"Well, I have installed some traps in the Forbidden Forest. I will tell you when the time comes."

The two looked at the big lake and were speechless for a while. The white clouds in the sky and the squid underwater overlap, creating heavy shadows.

Samantha suddenly asked: "Why did Dumbledore do this?"

"From a longer-term perspective..."

"But it's too risky."

Ian was silent.

"Is this the test you're talking about?" Samantha stirred the water with one hand. "Voldemort, ha, so scary. He will come back, right?"

The giant squid in the distance emerged from the water, approached the shore, and lay in the warm shallow water to bask in the sun.Samantha could touch its tentacles.

"He will be defeated." Ian said firmly.

Samantha turned to Ian: "But..."

"Ian! Samantha!"

A sudden call interrupted their conversation.

It was Harry and the others.

"Your review list was left in the library."

The trio ran over panting, handed a piece of paper to Ian, and sat down next to them.

Hermione started preparing for revision during the Easter holidays. She sent each of Harry, Ron and Ian a review list.

"Why have you only reviewed so much of History of Magic?" Hermione asked.

"Who cares who invented the automatic stirring crucible in which year?" Ian said nonchalantly, "As for the history of magic, just pass the test."

Harry and Ron felt like a new door had opened.

Before he could even sigh, the giant squid on the shore suddenly raised its tentacles and rolled them up.

"Get down!" Samantha, who had been looking at the lake, warned.

"What the hell!"

Everyone screamed and immediately got down - it was no use, the giant squid rolled up Harry's legs and dragged him into the lake, leaving a track on the grass.

Samantha reacted the fastest: "Quick confinement!"

The slippery tentacles flexibly got out of the rope, but luckily Harry was trapped.

"What's going on? It won't attack people!" Samantha had a flash of idea, "The curse will stop!"

Squidward slowed down his movements, and then began to drag Harry with greater strength, and Harry's bones began to make a cracking sound.

Ian figured it out too—someone had cast a spell on the giant squid.

"Wisdom is clear and the mind is peaceful!" Subconsciously, Ian used the mind-purifying spell.

The wisdom is clear and the mind is peaceful. The three souls are eternal, and the soul has no loss.

The second half of the Purifying Mantra.

The giant squid's movements stopped, and Harry plopped into the water, being pulled up by Samantha's rope.

"What the hell!" Ron looked horrified.Hermione also looked shocked.

He and Hermione were waving their wands just now, but they couldn't figure out what magic to use, so they could only do it in a hurry.

"Someone put a curse on the giant squid." Ian scanned the field and saw a figure walking into the castle from a distance.

Looking at each other, Samantha nodded - she also saw it, it was Quirrell.

"He's here for you, Harry."

Harry had been helped up by Ron, and Hermione used magic spells to dry most of his clothes.

"Why, why?"

"Don't worry about this for now, let's go back to the castle and go to Professor McGonagall."

Everyone agreed on this, and Ian and Ron supported Harry on both sides and rushed to the castle.

"I'll go find Madam Pomfrey and ask her to come over." Hermione said and rushed to the school doctor's office.

But before they reached Professor McGonagall, they were stopped again.

"What tricks are you playing?!"

A voice full of anger said.

It was Snape.

"Giant squid..."

"Nothing!" Harry interrupted Ian hastily as soon as he took a breath, "I accidentally fell when I was playing with the giant squid!"

Snape stared at Harry, and after about a minute he said, "It's better to be like what you said! Potter!"

"Come here, Mr. Heseltine! Your potions homework is a mess!"

He tossed his robe and walked to the underground office.
