Professor of Gemology at Hogwarts

Chapter 6 Joining Professors

It was at the end of August. Gray packed his luggage, Apparated to Hogsmeade Station, and got on the carriage to Hogwarts. In fact, in his eyes, there was only a carriage. Gray knew that it was the carriage pulled by the Thestral, but when he saw not see.

McGonagall was delighted with the arrival of Gray, a former student of hers who was now a professor and colleague at Hogwarts, which was very gratifying for a headmaster.

"I'm so happy for you! Gray!" Mag looked at him with bright eyes and was very happy.

There is an abandoned classroom on the fifth floor of Hogwarts. After the house elves cleaned it, it became a special classroom for crystal science.

Gray decorated the classroom slightly and set up a small display cabinet next to the podium, which contained several models of the crystals brought by Gray. After all, real crystals could not be thrown away casually in the classroom.

During meal time, only a few professors were in the school, so the seats in the auditorium were no longer so scattered. Several faculty members in the school sat together to eat.

Hagrid raised his glass happily.

"I heard! Gray! You came to Hogwarts to be a professor! It's great!" Hagrid said happily, "But I rarely see you these days. I'm going to plant a new batch of pumpkins recently. , I still want you to go and have a look."

"Sorry, Hagrid, I've been busy preparing lessons these days." Gray said in a helpless tone, "I'll find you when I have time."

Gray had met with the professors in the past few days, and after greeting them, he went to perfect the spar science syllabus in his office. There was no other way, this course hadn't been offered in decades, and he needed to rewrite the syllabus himself.

Apart from eating in the auditorium, Gray rarely went out for a walk on weekdays. He also needed to think about how to deal with the secret room next.

His office was in a room in the big twin towers at the corner of the fourth-floor corridor. It was small but very comfortable inside, with a window that could see the Whomping Willow and Quidditch pitch in the distance.

Directly across from the room are desks and chairs. There is a fireplace to the right of the desk. The bookshelves on the wall on one side are filled with books, and on the other side are various strange-shaped stones.

There is a secret door next to the shelf, with a bed and a wardrobe. That is where Gray rests.

On September [-]st, school started at Hogwarts, and as expected, the front page of the Evening Prophet that day read:

"Shocking! Ford Anglia flies, much to Muggles' surprise! Two Muggles in London are convinced they saw an old car fly over the Post Office Building... In Norfolk at noon, Lady Hetty Bayliss While the laundry was hanging out... Mr Angus Fleet of Peebles reported to the police... that there were six or seven Muggles in all."

The newspaper is mailed to subscribers via Owl.Professors and some students at Hogwarts receive newspapers when the owls arrive in the morning. The newspaper is divided into a daily newspaper and an evening newspaper, the latter being called the Evening Prophet.

After the "Evening Prophet" was mailed, everyone discussed the flying car incident.

In the evening, the Hogwarts Express arrived, and students came to the auditorium one after another. The auditorium was very spacious, enough to accommodate all the teachers, students, and guests of Hogwarts.

There are four long tables in the auditorium, where students from the four colleges eat.Directly at the front of the auditorium is the teachers' bench - a long table reserved for the school's staff.

The current principal's seat is a large ornate gold chair in the center of the teachers' bench.

Gray sat at the teacher's chair and looked at the students. This was the first time he saw Hogwarts from a new perspective.

In the middle, Dumbledore sat calmly, his long silver beard and half-moon glasses shining in the candlelight.

McGonagall left her seat to get the Sorting Hat.

On the other side, Snape wasn't in his seat either, probably going to catch Harry and Ron.

Sitting at the top was Hagrid, who was tall and bushy-bearded, swaying his wine glass and waiting for the dinner to begin.

The professor next to Gray, Gilderoy Lockhart, was wearing an aqua robe, fiddling with his hairstyle. From time to time, he would talk to Flitwick on the other side about his feat of subduing werewolves. Flitwick, as his former Teacher, as Lockhart's words became more and more outrageous, his beard trembled.

While the sorting ceremony was going on, Gray also saw a few familiar faces.

Several freshmen had failed to control their magic and caused minor accidents. He had seen a few of them while working at the Ministry of Magic last year.

For example, the little boy with mouse-grey hair who scared away a couple before with his moving photos, his name is Colin Creevey;

There is also a girl named Ginny Weasley, the daughter of Mr. Weasley. Their red hair is very conspicuous, allowing Gray to spot the younger brothers of Gray's good friend Bill Weasley - George, Fred Red and Percy.

As for Ron, he is probably being scolded in Snape's office right now.

"Welcome!" said Dumbledore, the candlelight shining on his beard. "Welcome back to Hogwarts! I have a few things to tell you all..."

Everyone became quiet. After Dumbledore said some things to note about the school, he finally announced the new professor.

He continued: “I am delighted to welcome two new teachers to our line-up this term.”

Dumbledore looked towards Gray and Lockhart.

"First, Gilderoy Lockhart as our new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor."

Lockhart stood up and showed a standard smile. The students below burst into applause, especially the girls. In Gray's opinion, this was simply too exaggerated, just like a fan meeting.

Dumbledore signaled everyone to be quiet: "I believe you have seen that, yes, we are about to launch a new required course, crystal science. Gray Morris will be our professor of crystal science."

Gray stood up and bowed.

There was sparse applause in the auditorium, which was not even as loud as the discussion.Gray was speechless. Isn't this applause so different from Lockhart's? !

The students all looked at Gray and curiously discussed with each other what hedron science was.

Only George and Fred clapped loudly, and Gray also saw Percy sitting upright, talking very proudly to the people around him.

"Well, there are so many important things." Dumbledore said, "Let's have a feast!"

The gold plate and goblets in front of Gray suddenly appeared full of food and drinks.

Before he started eating, he saw Snape walking in from the back door and saying a few words to McGonagall. He saw McGonagall put down her fork, pursed her lips tightly, and followed Snape away with a serious look on her face. .

Immediately afterwards, Dumbledore also left his seat.

While he was observing, someone placed a photo in front of his eyes, blocking his view.
