Professor of Gemology at Hogwarts

Chapter 2 Trace Loophole

Gray and Arnold walked quickly to the crowd and found a giant python strutting forward on the ground. From time to time, its body would bump into the heels of some people who didn't pay attention to it.

When people saw the snake, they immediately screamed and ran away in fear.

Gray immediately took out his wand and hid behind the crowd, using magic to control the giant python. After the giant python hid in the bushes and disappeared from people's sight, he used his wand to petrify and hide it.

"Merlin, this..." Arnold was stunned, "Who released this thing?!"

Arnold must have been shocked that so many people had seen the giant python. As an amnesiac, he was probably overwhelmed.

"Go in and see!"

Gray dragged the shocked Arnold into the reptile house, and the next scene was very dramatic.

They saw a little chubby boy trapped in the display case of the giant python. The little chubby boy was soaked with water and looked very embarrassed. He was holding on to the glass in a panic, not knowing what to do.

A middle-aged couple outside the glass was so frightened that they slapped the glass frantically and shouted.

The administrator on the side was so frightened that he couldn't move, looking at everything in front of him in shock.

And sitting on the cement floor next to the display cabinet was a little boy wearing slovenly clothes, breathing heavily. It must be Harry.

Remember in a second>

Finally, Gray put the petrified and hidden snake back into the display case, cast a stun spell to make it calm, and then created a pile of broken glass.

Arnold modified the memory of the museum administrators to show a chubby boy lying on the glass. As a result, the glass shattered and he accidentally fell into the display cabinet. At the same time, the python escaped and was finally caught by the zoo staff.

This saves them a lot of work. They don't have to modify the memories of the group of people being chased by the python one by one, because they have the impression that the python did escape.

As for little boy Harry...

"Don't worry about him!" Gray looked at Harry who staggered to his feet.

He had messy black hair, and his thin body was wearing a large shirt that didn't match his size.

"He is probably the little wizard who caused the accident. If his parents are Muggles and he has not yet entered school, we don't need to warn him because he doesn't know anything yet, right?" Arnold watched curiously.

"Those people in their family are indeed Muggles."

The Dursleys were so frightened that they worriedly checked whether their son Dally was injured. The administrator next to them kept apologizing to them.

Finally, Gray watched as Harry was forcefully dragged away by Mr. Dursley.

"Why is his father so cruel to him? Is he suspecting that his own children are deliberately causing harm to others? How about I cast a forgetting spell?"

"Ah? His father? Take a closer look. Maybe he is just a relative of his. There are four people in the family. Three of them are very plump, but this child is thin and small." Gray said, "And he is the only one with black hair."

Arnold looked at their backs and touched his nose: "Uh... it's really hard to say..."

The two came to a hidden place nearby. After looking around to see that no one was there, they apparated back to the hall of the Ministry of Magic.

"Hey! Gray! Arnold!"

Gray looked over when he heard the sound. It was Nymphadora Tonks. Like Charlie Weasley, Tonks was two years younger than Gray. She had just graduated this summer and determined to be an Auror. She was now participating in the Auror training.

"Good afternoon! Nymphadora!" Arnold grinned.

Nymphadora Tonks muttered, "Call me Tonks! I've said it several times."

She preferred to be called Tonks, because the word "nympha" in "Nymphadora" was an obscenity and had homophones.

"Okay, Nymphadora!" Arnold said without changing his expression.

"I just thought you had a brain problem and no memory, Arnold." Nymphadora Tonks said angrily, "From the first day I met you, I clearly remember that in Hufflepah Qi’s lounge, I emphasized the name issue.”

"Yes, Nymphadora!" Arnold still did not change his words.

Gray laughed when he saw Arnold's funny look, but was glared at by Nymphadora Tonks. He quickly stopped his smile and said, "Why did training end so early today?"

"It's been very relaxing these days! Recently we were training in disguise. It was a piece of cake for me. I got the best result in disguise without having to study at all. It's amazing."

"I do envy you." Arnold muttered, "I also want to be an Auror, but apparently they haven't been recruiting people recently."

Gray looked at the bright golden hair of Nymphadora Tonks. You must know that hair dyeing and haircutting cost a lot of money in Muggle life, and it may not be possible to dye the ideal hair color.

"I also envy your ability to change your hair color," Gray said.

"Why has it changed again?" Arnold then noticed the bright blond hair of the person in front of him, "Weren't you still orange when I saw you last week? Are you, the disguised Animagus, so willful?"

"Bright blonde is more popular recently, isn't it?" Nymphadora Tonks touched her hair and felt very satisfied.

"Your hair changes so much that I'm embarrassed. I don't even recognize you in the crowd. Who knows what you will look like next time? What if I have to cast a forgetting spell on you?" Arnold suddenly put on a fake face. Seriously.

"Isn't this simple?" Gray looked at Arnold, "The most eye-catching hair color must be Tonks."

Nymphadora Tonks laughed: "Gray is right, I am the most conspicuous! But Arnold, if you have this idea, I will definitely burn your hair, so that you will also be the most conspicuous among the crowd." That’s on top of the head, right?”

Gray imagined Arnold's shiny head and couldn't help but laugh, "I'm really looking forward to it. Tonks, you have to burn it cleanly, otherwise it won't reflect light."

"Don't worry! I'm very good at handling my hair." Nymphadora Tonks glanced at Arnold with evil intentions.

Arnold curled his lips and ignored the two of them.

The next days for them were busy. When the holidays came, all the students at Hogwarts would go home for the holidays, and the students who were about to enter the school received notices. They were not honest, and they might not know when something would happen.

The two of them are running around. Recently, they just want to have a stable day and sit in the office for a while, but accidents keep coming to their door.

The morning before yesterday, a little boy turned his neighbor's mouth into a pig's mouth.

Last night, a third-year student had an argument with his father and burst all the water pipes in his house while his father was taking a shower, causing damage to the entire apartment. The Department for the Prohibition of Misuse of Magic issued a serious warning to him and notified the school.

There is also a fried restaurant at noon today.

"The day before yesterday, a little boy and his family were eating Teppanyaki in a Japanese restaurant and they blew up the iron plate on a table in the restaurant! The whole restaurant knew about it! People from the Muggle coordination team also went, but the key is that they still didn't understand them. What can I say? Candley said that the Japanese boss's English accent doubled the time they spent communicating, but why not communicate through writing? I was extremely impressed by this incident. What was the name of the little boy who got into trouble?" Arnold Taking advantage of the fact that I have nothing to do now, I walked around the office chattering crazily.

He turned out a parchment report sheet on the table next to him.

"Oh, yes! Seamus Finnigan! Alas! That's enough..." Arnold leaned back and leaned on the seat.

Seamus Finnigan is Harry's classmate, and he often uses magic to cause explosions. It seems that his talent was revealed before he entered school.

He was a famous blaster in Hogwarts in the future. With his "explosion talent", he blew up feathers in the Charms class one year ago.

"As far as I know, he is about to enter school this year." Gray couldn't help but smile when he thought of Seamus' explosive talent at Hogwarts.

There were pieces of parchment spread out in front of him, and he was sorting out the information and making a report on everything: "There's only half a month until school starts, so I don't understand anything. I'm sorry."

"Then his name should be written down!" Arnold patted the armrest, "If he can blow up a table in the restaurant before he even enters school, wouldn't he be a dangerous explosives person in the future?"

What he said was really accurate.

"What you said is really accurate... huh? What's going on here at Privet Drive in Surrey? Has there been fluctuations in the past few days?" Gray saw a dynamic report on magic fluctuations, which showed July 7th - July 26th. There are continuous updates every day.

"Oh, that." Arnold didn't even look at the parchment. "No need to interfere with that. It's Hagrid. He is delivering a letter to a new student at Hogwarts. Dumbledore has agreed with the Ministry of Magic to allow it. He uses a little magic.”

"Oh!" Gray suddenly realized, remembering that the Harry family must have received hundreds of letters at this time, and it must be Hagrid's doing. He looked at a series of traces and movements, "It's really a little more useful."

Arnold shrugged: "There was no accident. We can't care about it. If we do, it's a matter of the Department of Prohibition of Abuse of Magic, and Surrey County is not under our control. You see, that's the bad thing about Trace. You don’t know at all whether it was magic released by a minor. You can only speculate that there is magic around him, which also increases our workload. The Department of Prohibition of Abuse of Magic will not go if we don’t want to go. We still have to go. After all, who Do you know if next time you will break a public water tap or blow up the whole street?”

It has to be said that Trace Silk's loopholes are really big, which is why Dobby cast the spell, but Harry received a warning letter inexplicably.

Gray looked at the parchment that recorded countless traces of magical fluctuations on Privet Drive. He was busy with the work in front of him, so he put him to the side of the table and stopped caring about it.

At first, everything was ordinary, until I received trace fluctuations - disembodied - dealt with the accident - came back to write a report.

But Gray's boring life of working at the Ministry of Magic was broken by a Christmas visit soon after.
