Hogwarts Melting Ice Journey

Chapter 20 The First Sunday at Hogwarts

Rowan saw Stephen in his usual seat, and he sat down opposite Stephen.

"Stephen, I saw a book in the library about name magic." Rowan couldn't wait to start sharing what he had just read with Stephen.

"Is the name magic the kind used by the mysterious man?" Stephen remembered that the reason why he couldn't call the mysterious man directly was because he cast magic on his name.

"It's almost the same, but I think it's much more advanced than what he used. The function of name magic is not only to reveal one's location when others say a person's name, but also to hide one's location." Rowan took out a notebook and handed it to him. Stephen, “I think it does a lot more than that.”

Stephen opened Rowan's notebook, and he saw nothing else except the content of the class.

"Rowan, I think you have a point, even though I can't see it."

"How is it possible that I clearly wrote it down in the notebook?" Rowan took the notebook and turned it to the position where he had done it before, "Look."

But Stephen saw nothing but blank paper.

"Rowan, I believe what you said, even though I really can't see the notes you took. I think this is because of the name magic you mentioned. I think this book should have set up some kind of mechanism to keep this secret. Magical research, those who can interpret it cannot spread it outside."

Seeing that Stephen's expression didn't seem to be fake, Rowan nodded and put the notebook back. He had to start solving his own food and clothing problem.

After the meal, the two returned to the common room. Stephen prepared to finish his unfinished homework, while Rowan took out the book on transfiguration and began to study it. After bedtime, the two returned to the dormitory to sleep, and the night passed like this.

Stephen finally understood why few people mentioned the weekend life at Hogwarts, because it was so boring, especially for students from Muggle families.

Young wizards from pure-blood families go home almost every weekend, so only wizards who don't plan to go home, or can't go home, stay in school. However, there were still many people staying on the first Sunday, probably because the mysterious man was still causing trouble outside the school.

Early in the morning, Rowan pulled Stephen out of bed on the grounds that he would teach him how to play with Gobstones. Rowan didn't plan to go home on weekends, because the forest farm was too far from Hogwarts or Platform 9, and it would be very time-consuming to go back.

Stephen reluctantly got up from the bed, obviously he planned to sleep in until noon.

The Gobstone game uses a special kind of stone and is played similarly to the Muggle marbles game. The main difference is that when one side loses a point, the stones will spray a foul-smelling liquid into the face of the person who lost the point. My guess is that you use magic to control the stones to hit the opponent's stones. If you miss, the other party controls their own stones. After all, wizard games don't use hands like Muggles.

A standard Gobstone game contains thirty small, round stones, and each player has fifteen at the beginning of the game. If one party collects all of his opponent's stones, he is the winner of the game.

What Rowan took out was not the one that sprayed out a smelly liquid, but some kind of modified version that only sprayed out clear water. He felt that if he was just teaching Stephen how to play, there was no need to use the standard one, otherwise he would run away.

You know, many wizards are deeply resentful of that unpleasant-smelling liquid.

Rowan first taught Stephen the rules of using magic, and then taught him how to interfere. Stephen nodded to show that he understood, and the two started pecking each other in the courtyard. Oh no, they were killing each other unilaterally, the way Rowan tortured Stephen.

After just an hour of playing like this, Stephen went from being barely able to interact with each other to being zero-blocked by Rowan in the end. It can be said that he has made great progress.

"If it weren't for my great progress, how could Rowan go from being so lax at the beginning to showing no mercy at all later on?" Stephen thought, and he felt very satisfied with his idea.

Rowan was also very happy. He had never seen someone who could play with him for so long, and he was still being abused one-sidedly.

The two of them will go to the Room of Requirement to train until noon. Stephen tried the three-foot retreat that Merula used that day, but he found that he couldn't use it, even though the pronunciation was the same and the movements were similar, he shook his head and started practicing other spells.

Rowan tried his transfiguration, and this time he succeeded in turning a match into a needle. Rowan tried other things that were within his ability, and basically succeeded. It seems that theory is indeed very useful. Understanding it can help people master magic spells faster. Of course, the premise is understanding.

In the afternoon, Stephen decided to take a look at the secret passage. He handed the structural diagram to Rowan and looked at it for a while. Rowan also expressed that he was very interested in the secret passage. The two decided to go and take a look after eating. Moreover, Filch is off today, so there is enough time and opportunity to check them out one by one.

The two went to the Statue of Gregory first, and Stephen touched the back of the statue and touched the mechanism. With a "click" sound, a door appeared from the wall next to the statue. Stephen and Rowan looked at each other and walked in. A few seconds after the two walked in, the door on the wall disappeared.

"Luminescent Flash" Rowan felt a little dark and used his wand to light up the road ahead.

The two of them felt like they had been gone for a long time. Stephen took out his pocket watch and took a look. Ten minutes didn't seem to go long. Rowan in front suddenly disappeared. Stephen was stunned for a moment, and then followed him.

He walked through the darkness in front of him, feeling like he had passed through something, and then the sunlight flashed into his eyes. After adapting for a few seconds, he looked around and saw that it was from the Statue of Gregory to a slope next to the Black Lake.

"Stephen, do we want to go back the way we came?" Rowan looked at Stephen who came out of the slope, "or let's explore the surroundings first. I always feel that locating the exit of the secret passage here has a certain purpose."

"You're right, Rowan. But I think our main task in the afternoon is to check the secret passage, not to find the reason for the construction of the secret passage." Stephen rejected his suggestion. Secrets are not so easy to find, especially in the dark. Without a clue.

"Oh, you're right." Rowan nodded.

"I think we should go back to the school from here. It's hard to say whether we will be exposed if we take the secret passage."

It took the two of them twenty minutes to get back to school. It seemed that one of the reasons for building this secret passage was to save time.

There is no need to go to the one-eyed witch statue. Stephen told Rowan that this secret passage leads to the cellar of Duke Bee. As for the reason, his brother Jacob told him. He "frequently" used this secret passage to go to Hogsmeade. As for whether this happened, no one would know.
