Hogwarts White Knight
Chapter 7 The magic wand has an idea
Madam Malkin's.
(ans)
When Gawain pushed open the curtain hanging at the door, he and Elsa were greeted by a short, fat woman wearing a purple robe.
The shop is not big. There is an orange wooden counter at the door, and inside are silver hangers with various robes on display.
The woman was standing behind the counter.
"Welcome, you two. Madam, are you here to buy him some clothes for school?"
The woman waved her wand and summoned two chairs.
Because Colin had a "whim" and "wanted to know about the wizard's potion shop" and "volunteered" to purchase scales, cauldrons and other items, Elsa was responsible for taking Gawain to buy clothes and wands.
"Good day, I'm Elsa and he's Gawain. Like you said, he needs a set, um..."
Elsa thanked the woman in the purple robe and took out the list.
"Plain work robes, pointed hat, and a winter cloak, right? I am the owner of the shop, they usually call me Mrs. Malkin. Most of the students at Hogwarts choose to have their robes made here. "
But before Elsa could start reading, Madam Malkin said with an understanding smile. She walked out from the counter and came to Gawain, looking at him carefully.
"Your name is Gawain? What a handsome little wizard. Come with me."
Before Gawain could react, Lady Malkin had tugged on the sleeves of his shirt and pulled him to a mirror in the back of the store, standing on a footstool.
With a light flick of the wand in her hand, two measuring tapes floated out, surrounding his body to measure all dimensions.
Rather than saying that this was measuring the size, it was better to say that Gawain was being played around with by these two tape measures.
On the side, his mother Elsa turned a blind eye to this scene, but carefully looked at a pointed wizard hat.
"You have really good eyesight. This hat has a constant cleaning spell, so it won't get dusty no matter how long it is left."
While recording the data, Mrs. Malkin greeted Elsa and introduced her.
"Do you accept customization here?"
Elsa asked as if casually, and took off the wizard hat and handed it to the counter.
Perhaps because Madam Malkin was used to altering robes for new students at Hogwarts, the process took much less time than Gawain had imagined. In less than half an hour, he and Elsa had already purchased the clothes they needed and walked out of the store.
"Next we should go buy wands. Mrs. Malkin said that there is only one wand shop in Diagon Alley and even in the whole of Britain called Ollivander's, which is at the end of the street."
Gawain looked at the map on the street, poked at Elsa who was thinking about how to customize an ordinary evening dress, and pointed to the end of the street.
Although he does not need to work hard to convince their parents to allow him to enroll like many young wizards of "Muggle" origin.
But he has a feeling.
It seems that his parents are more interested than him?
"It seems like I'm the one who will enroll on September st, right? It's me...probably. It should be...definitely...it's me."
Although this is a good thing.
But Gawain felt something subtle inexplicably.
Trying his best to get rid of some messy thoughts in his mind, he pulled Elsa towards the end of the street, looking for the wand shop. Fortunately, this time it didn't take much effort for him to find his target.
"Ollivander, began making staffs in 382 BC"
At the end of the alley, Gawain found a copper sign with this text written on it. The golden signboard itself is already mottled and dilapidated, making people worried that it will suddenly fall off due to rain or wind.
It was a very inconspicuous store, with only a solitary box placed in one of the windows. In the box, on a purple velvet cushion, was a slender black wand. The inside of the store is short and narrow, and there is always a strange smell.
If it hadn't been for the fact that a little wizard had just come out of it accompanied by his parents, holding a brand new wand in his hand, Gawain would have even suspected that this place was actually a joint for some ulterior business, or simply... A haunted attraction.
"anyone there?"
Gawain pushed open the wooden door doubtfully and looked at the store carefully.
Not far in front of him, there was a narrow black counter and a bench, which seemed to indicate that "I am actually a store."
But other than that, there were just layers of black shelves, high to the ceiling.
"Hold on!"
A gasping voice came from behind the counter, but Gawain couldn't see a single figure.
After a while, a short old wizard stood up from behind the counter, his black robe already covered in dust.
"Sorry, the kids just now were particularly picky about wands, and it took me a lot of time to calm them down. Do you need a new wand?"
Ollivander's big, light-colored eyes were like two shining moons in the dark shop, staring straight at Gawain. The voice sounded very soft, as if floating on a cloud, which made him feel uncomfortable with being overly concerned.
"Yes, Mr. Ollivander."
Gawain nodded in reply, which made Ollivander smile.
"Ah, yes, polite boy. Are you left-handed or right-handed?"
Ollivander seemed to have discovered some treasure. After Gawain raised his right hand, he measured it carefully with a ruler.
Height, arm length, knuckle length, even the distance between the arms, and head circumference were not left out. While measuring and recording, his eyes shone.
Gawain is no stranger to this light. Every time he sees Colin excitedly telling Elsa and him about his new project, his eyes will radiate with this light. Elsa and Gawain will listen carefully and express their support.
It took a while before Ollivander finally seemed satisfied. He put the ruler back under the counter, turned back, and retrieved a large number of long boxes from the shelf.
"Try this one, 13.3 inches, poplar wood, unicorn hair core."
He took a box from the pile, opened it, took out a wand, and handed it to Gawain's hand.
The moment Gawain took the wand, he felt the wand tremble slightly, as if excited, and the top of the wand even flashed a few rays of golden light.
"Looks like we're in luck, it's full..."
Ollivander said with a smile in his soft voice, countless experiences told him that this is the behavior of a wand when it chooses its satisfactory owner. But before he finished speaking, the wand suddenly appeared from Gawain's finger, floated in the air, rubbed his hand, and then fell back to the counter.
"Well, it looks like this wand has other ideas."
Facing the confused Gawain, Ollivander wanted to secretly scratch his head.
