17, A Hope to Live

The final season of the game also concluded.

Unliked characters like Akechi Hidetoyo were omitted and left dead, but it ended with a grand finale.

It was a very long game series, from the original to the second and the final, but I finally completed it.

“It’s over, Toyotomi-kun…”

The “Breaking the Chains of Sorrow” series has completely finished with the final.

Different works by the same maker share the same universe, but the stories are so different there seems to be no need to play them.

“The connection with Toyotomi-kun has been severed…”

I started playing this game wanting to know what Toyotomi-kun saw in it.

Now that it’s over, I feel like the topics that connected me to Toyotomi-kun have been cut off.

“…”

The daily lives of characters like Jumonji Takeru and the heroines continue somewhere out of my sight, meeting new people and growing up.

But I will never see their future selves for the rest of my life.

I felt like I made a lot of friends through the game, but in the end, I’m the only one left behind.

Left behind by Toyotomi-kun.

Left behind by the characters of the “Breaking the Chains of Sorrow” series.

I’m the only one who can’t move on to the future and is left behind.

I’ve lost the hope to live…

——–

“Cough…!?”

“Yumi!? Hey, Yumi!?”

A few days later, I coughed up blood in the school hallway.

I lost consciousness and when I came to, I was on a bed.

Tubes are connected all over my body.

Ah, I’m probably going to die.

I feel like I can’t be saved.

Or rather, I don’t particularly want to be saved.

“————”

Mom is saying something.

I’m sorry, I can’t hear anything anymore…

Only the sensation of dying races through my body.

Having lost my purpose in life, my will to live, and even how to live.

I went to Toyotomi-kun’s place too soon…

Will he be angry that I came too early?

Or will he be happy for the early reunion?

Whichever reaction I get, there’s nothing happier than being able to meet Toyotomi-kun.

By the way, I wonder if Toyotomi-kun remembers…

The conversation about “If we don’t message at least once every day during summer break, you’ll have to play a penalty game.”

The promise that he would listen to anything I say.

I had forgotten, but now I remember, so I’ll say it.

— If I am reborn as a human again next time.

— Then, I want to be by Toyotomi-kun’s side.

— I won’t ask for the luxury of being your girlfriend.

— I just want to be near you.

I will definitely find Toyotomi-kun.

“Hey, Hideyori. What’s the first period class today?”

“What was it? Language arts or something?”

“Too bad, it was math.”

“Hey, Takeru. Should we stop being best friends?”

Hideyori? Takeru?

What are those, painfully nostalgic names.

Hearing the conversation of the two passing by, my head hurts as if it’s splitting.

It feels like something that’s been hovering nearby.

Definitely “Breaking the chain of sorrow”… that’s it!

Whoa! Wait a minute. My name is Tsugaru Emiko, isn’t it?!

A girl student with green hair!

Green hair is impossible for a natural color, isn’t it?!

“I’m reincarnated…”

A trivial trigger.

I realized that this world is a game world, thanks to the voices and faces of Tenmoku Takurou and Akemichi Shuurai.

The only difference is that it’s a bit younger than the game.

“…………This world is pretty violent, isn’t it?!”

Tsugaru Emiko is a character who doesn’t get involved in events, just a trivial factor.

But…

Akemichi Shuurai is messed up!… just like that worthless guy who ruined Toyotomi’s life, he’s a worthless person who doesn’t have any value to live.

“I’ll survive until I’m just involved in the original story!”

And so, I abandoned Kurisu Yumi’s life and started a new life as Tsugaru Emiko.
