Hogwarts: Wizards of Eternity

#97 - Roger, do you want to be a professor? (Fourth update, please subscribe)

"This feeling is just like being a god."

This was Harry's first sentence after experiencing the creative mode.

With a thought, mountains rise, rivers are created, volcanoes erupt; if you wish, even the sun in the sky can be turned into two.

It's not just the natural environment.

Humans and animals are the same; riding a dragon, Harry crossed his arms and looked down at the scene of people farming in the village below.

The sun was warm, the wind was gentle, and the dragon beneath him felt very real; Harry could even feel the tremor in its body as it breathed, and when he pinched his arm, a red swelling and a stinging pain appeared.

Roger's virtual reality simulation was too high, almost like reality.

If it weren't for the NPCs' dull expressions and mechanical movements, he would have almost thought this was reality and that he was truly a god.

But after continuing the experiment, Harry discovered a problem.

"Why is this mountain exactly the same as the last one?" Harry turned to Roger beside him.

", The models are limited. There are only a few mountain models, and carving various details such as forest vegetation and soil on a mountain requires effort. The most important use of my creative mode is to ask people to optimize all kinds of minor details to make the world in front of you more real," Roger said.

Roger had already considered that there was no need to pursue realism in everything for the public mode that ordinary people would experience.

On the contrary, in order to prevent people from disliking the real world and becoming obsessed with the beauty of the virtual world, he also had to leave some 'flaws' as much as possible so that people would realize that this was fake.

However, when Roger's technology is further improved in the future, those second-class players who are not far from death and have signed the ultimate thought acceleration agreement with Roger will spend hundreds of years of life in a few months.

The world Roger prepares for them should replicate reality as much as possible, completely turning it into a Matrix-like world.

For the creative mode, building ordinary macro scenery is not a skill; it's just copying and pasting based on existing models.

What's really difficult is fine-tuning a tree, a flower, creating new usable models, and then combining these models into new macro scenery.

"I think you'd better find someone who has actually worked as a programmer to do this." Harry, who grew up in the Muggle world like Hermione, naturally understood some things about Muggles.

Harry had never noticed before that the structure of a seemingly simple flower was so complex.

Petiole, receptacle, calyx, corolla, stigma, style, ovary, sap, root system, leaves, cell structure, photosynthesis, material transfer, energy circulation—this is just an inconspicuous little flower.

Turning his head to look at the surrounding lush mountains with different vegetation, as well as the human NPCs whose every pore was clearly visible, he now deeply realized the extent of the difference between Roger and himself.

Roger said that these things, as well as the many games that the students were playing, were all made by him in less than 10 days—what terrifying realm has this guy's information reserve and computing power reached?!

"A wizard who has worked as a programmer?" Where could he find such a person?

Instead of looking for such a rare thing, Roger might as well continue to optimize the creative mode plug-in so that even ordinary Muggles can use it. This is a direction, but the International Statute of Secrecy is an insurmountable problem.

Oh, the International Statute of Secrecy.

It is a protection for wizards, but it also invisibly restricts much of the development of wizarding society.

Although the higher-ups of the wizarding and Muggle societies have always had contact, it is not impossible to borrow some people from the British royal family through legal channels.

But this is no small matter. Fudge, because of Dumbledore, realized the terrifying potential of virtual reality and pretended not to see it.

Turn a blind eye to the affairs of the big shots.

But if Muggles knew about this, they would definitely report it to the national leaders.

For Fudge to pretend not to see is one thing, and for Fudge to actively help attack Muggles to cover up the facts is another. That timid guy who likes to protect himself would not be willing.

All countries have think tank teams, and there must be insightful people who can see that wizards are quietly brewing a huge change. Will they stand idly by?

"The problem is back to square one." Roger recalled a sentence he had once said to Dumbledore.

'All disadvantages and failures stem from the inadequacy of the person involved.' It is precisely because Roger's power is not enough to completely overturn the table that many of his actions cannot be reckless.

Roger, who does not have the ability to bear the consequences, must proceed cautiously, not letting the development of the situation get out of his control and avoiding disasters.

After receiving Harry's usage feedback, Roger, with his thoughts, once again approached Dumbledore.

Pushing open the door to the headmaster's office, Roger noticed that Dumbledore's expression was uncharacteristically bad, even worse than during the Grindelwald incident last time.

"Headmaster Dumbledore, has something happened?" Roger suppressed the question he was originally going to ask.

He looked at Dumbledore with concern.

Noticing Roger's concern, Dumbledore rubbed his forehead and composed himself: "... It's nothing.

It's just that some bad situations have arisen in the legal reform. Don't worry, it's just some politicians bickering with each other. I'll take care of it."

"How about your side? I heard that the children have been very addicted to it for the past half month?" Dumbledore forced a smile.

Some time has passed since the implementation of virtual reality, and Dumbledore was indeed a little worried about the students' initial addiction to games.

But after Roger made restrictive measures and made a threat, and the atmosphere turned into a rush to cram before the final exam, Dumbledore also felt relieved.

"It's okay for now. I think since things are going so smoothly, we should start the next step of the plan." Since Dumbledore said he could handle it, Roger didn't plan to do anything extra. Forced melons are not sweet.

Moreover, helping blindly without knowing the situation might make things worse.

Roger began to talk about his plan to recruit a 'magical programmer team' to optimize the virtual reality world.

If it was just a simple recruitment, it would just be Roger's private matter, and he could make the decision himself.

The key is that Roger doesn't plan to just recruit.

After listening to Roger's whole plan, Dumbledore couldn't help but widen his eyes and exclaim: "Open a school?

You want to be a professor?!"

"It's just a training class, not teaching magic, but teaching basic things about Muggle programmers, biological science, and physical science." This is Roger's plan. It's hard to find programmer wizards, so he can just do some pre-job training himself.

Hogwarts is the only wizarding school in Britain. Roger is considering whether it is more appropriate to run this pre-job training on his own or to affiliate it with Hogwarts and create something similar to an adult night school.

He doesn't know much about this, so he came to ask Hogwarts Headmaster Dumbledore for his opinion.

"This—" Dumbledore scratched his forehead with his fingers.

"Let me think." Even Dumbledore was a little stunned by this question. He had never encountered such a thing before.
