American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker

#307 - Infinity Series: Luke! Luke! [Part 1]

Everyone felt as if they had entered a high-speed channel, surrounded by a dazzling, multi-colored tunnel. They were swept along by a force, flashing towards a certain destination.

It felt like a long time, yet also like an instant. The concept of time became distorted in their memories. With a strong push, they stumbled out of the tunnel and appeared in a spacious place filled with colorful light.

Above them, a sphere was slowly retracting into a metal baffle.

"Where is this?" Wayne and the others instantly became vigilant, especially those who had witnessed the radiant beam when Thanos arrived. They warily scanned their surroundings, as if a terrifying creature might suddenly appear and attack them.

"This is the Silent City."

A gentle voice echoed in the spacious area. The voice wasn't loud, but due to some strange energy resonance and the architecture of the building, it clearly reached the ears of everyone in the plaza.

"Luke!" Hearing this voice, Captain was overjoyed. He had already had a premonition, but hearing Luke's voice further confirmed that he had truly returned home this time.

He would be able to see his beloved Peggy Carter again, and reunite with his companions. More importantly, the feeling of returning home gave him a sense of belonging and peace.

"Welcome home, Captain. I hope you enjoyed your trip." A hazy light illuminated the plaza, and a slightly hunched old man walked out of the light curtain. To Captain's surprise, he approached them.

"Luke?" Seeing the hunched figure approaching, Captain's face was filled with disbelief. He asked in a panic, "How long has it been? Why have you aged so much? Where's Peggy? What about Tony and the others?"

Terrible thoughts flooded Captain's mind. His heart was filled with intense fear, which even the ring on his hand couldn't dispel. He was afraid of hearing terrible news from Luke that he didn't want to hear.

"Oh, don't worry. You've only been gone for two or three years. This is just a body I use to maintain and upgrade the Silent City. My main body is still immersed in his laboratory." Luke's words made Captain breathe a heavy sigh of relief. He was afraid that, like last time, he would wake up to find everything changed, familiar people dead or aged, and a world he couldn't understand. He would be like a lonely outsider, out of sync with his surroundings. Experiencing that once was enough.

"Welcome to my Silent City." Luke's gaze swept over Wayne and the others. He said softly, "Would you like me to give you a tour?"

"They are…"

Captain began to speak, but Luke stopped him with a wave of his hand. Luke gently reached out, and the psionic gauntlets that Wayne and the others had brought were drawn to Luke by some force. As Luke's fingers gently touched the gauntlet, a series of lights flickered, and in the blink of an eye, it returned to its calm state.

"Those are our spoils of war." Luthor stepped forward. His desire for the gauntlet had never subsided. Even though it seemed that the gauntlet was about to be returned to its original owner, he was still unwilling.

"You want it?" Luke glanced at Luthor, who had stepped forward, and asked with interest, holding the psionic gauntlet that looked like a giant's glove with his thin arm.

"It is ours," Luthor stated again.

"Since you say so, then I'll give it to you. I'm quite happy that someone appreciates my work, even if its technology is a bit outdated." Luke smiled and returned the psionic gauntlet to Luthor's hand, as if he were giving away an ordinary item rather than a divine artifact.

"This is Luthor…"

"I know them." Luke interrupted Captain again. "We don't need to waste time on these useless introductions."

"How do you know?" Captain was stunned. Wayne and the others also looked at Luke.

"What did you think I took back the gauntlet for? It's not just a container for a divine artifact, but also a recording device. It's a series of equipment created for exploring the multiverse, so it's natural to have functions like positioning and a black box." Luke said calmly.

"So, you know everything Thanos did?" This time, Diana stepped forward. The Lasso of Truth was wrapped around her arm, and she just looked at Luke.

"I advise you not to use that rope." Luke saw through Diana's intentions, but he still stood there, his face full of warmth. "There's no need to be so hostile. What good would it do you to subdue me? I'm just a pitiful clone."

"A clone that can control this terrifying fortress?" Diana sneered. However, just as she was about to act, a strange feeling of weakness spread throughout her body. She found that the power flowing within her body had become dormant, and she had even lost control over the divine artifact she carried.

She looked blankly at Luke, who was close at hand. She knew that all of this was related to Luke, but she didn't understand how he had done it.

"What have you done to us?" Clark asked. His feelings were even more profound than Diana's. The Kryptonian power surging within his body had completely subsided. He had never felt like a true ordinary person as he did now.

Even the Batsuit on Wayne's body instantly betrayed him, becoming a cage.

"Just to allow you to calm down." Luke took out an unremarkable iron hammer hanging behind him and tapped it on the ground. A pile of tiny parts appeared in the air from nothing and assembled into a floating seat under Luke, lifting him up. "Don't be so hostile. Even if you are, don't show it to me in this city.

This is the absolute domain that I painstakingly created. I have modified and sealed your bloodlines and powers, and I have also restricted your equipment. Now, all of your powers that exceed the standard are incompatible here. I think this will help us with our next conversation, or rather, negotiation."

"Negotiate what? Negotiate how you invaded our universe? Or plunder our universe?" Hal said.

"Why invasion and plunder? Can't it be mutual progress and help?" Luke looked at Hal in surprise and spread his hands.

"I can't see that from your arrangements. You are too strong and overbearing. We don't need your help to progress." Wayne said, "I want to know, what exactly do you want us to do?"
