American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker

#306 - Infinite Series: Ends and Beginnings

"He's dead?" Hal looked at the place where Thanos disappeared, unable to accept this scene.

"According to the White Lantern's perception of life, he is indeed dead, but his soul is not in the grasp of the Entity." Wayne's expression was also complicated. Regarding Thanos, they couldn't give a single judgment. Besides being on opposite sides, there was nothing about Thanos that made them feel he was utterly irredeemable.

As for snapping his fingers and destroying half the life in the entire universe.

That didn't happen in their universe, did it?

Moreover, according to Steve, this Thanos did not achieve his obsession. The one who achieved his obsession was himself from another universe.

"Did we just win like this?" Carol couldn't believe it. The enemy who was so powerful, like a god or demon, would end in such a dramatic way. She was still unsure if Thanos was really dead. But the White Lantern's perception clearly proved the demise of Thanos's life.

"How can this be considered a win? To be precise, we suffered a crushing defeat!" Wayne closed his eyes. He would rather fight Thanos until the last moment of the universe than face the current unknown situation where he had completely lost control.

Without Thanos as an obstacle, they would probably have to face Luke directly.

"Can't we reverse time one more time? Thanos is dead, and no one is stopping Barry." Hal swallowed and looked at Barry Allen, asking.

"It's useless. Thanos locked the timeline, and his death wasn't a simple death. He merged into our universe. In other words, he used his death to permanently alter some of the rules and parameters of our universe. I don't think he couldn't have imagined that we would use the power of time again after his death. I have a very bad feeling when I have the idea of using the Speed Force to reverse time. I have a strong premonition," Barry said, his expression not good.

"What premonition?" Everyone looked at Barry, who looked terrible.

"I've been speed-limited, F*ck!" Barry spread his hands, unable to resist cursing.

Everyone's expression froze.

"Reversing time only happens when my speed exceeds a certain limit, but I can't reach that speed now. There is a force restricting me, as if the universe has more rules and a layer of shackles. The Speed Force still exists, and it is still one of the powerful forces in this universe, but in this universe, it and its users are restricted," Barry said angrily. Even without this restriction, he might not be able to run at this speed for a long time in the future, but there is a difference between having a restriction and not having one.

"Let's go back first. We still have a bunch of troubles to deal with. Also, the Captain might know something." Wayne glanced at the empty throne floating in the void and turned to leave.

Several beams of white light gathered together, forming a huge white comet-like light, and swept towards the blue planet that was much lonelier in the planetary system.

This battle was destined to have far-reaching effects. They needed to consider some follow-up troubles and clean up the mess.

The Entity resurrected all the people who died in the battle when it left, but it was powerless or too busy to deal with other losses.

Wayne and the others returned to the base with complicated expressions and looked at the Captain sitting in his seat. Although he didn't participate in the confrontation with Thanos, he did his best to protect this planet and life, and no one could blame him.

Soon, Wayne suppressed the complicated emotions in his heart. They needed to race against time, so he told everything that happened, Thanos's death, and Barry's feelings, and asked the Captain if he knew what this situation meant.

"Besides that? Is there any more detailed or other perceptual information?" The Captain didn't prevaricate or shirk responsibility for Wayne's questions. Instead, he thought seriously for a moment and looked at everyone and asked.

"It seems like there is something more in the universe. It's hard for me to describe that feeling in words. But if you want, you can let me connect to your consciousness and experience it," John said with some difficulty.

"Then come on." The Captain didn't refuse John's request. If nothing unexpected happened, he would be leaving here soon. Before leaving, he would just help them with their last favor.

John entangled his spirit with the Captain's spirit, and without the other party's resistance, he took the initiative to share his feelings. Of course, this sharing was still different from his feelings at the time, but this was the limit of what he could restore.

"It's the data dimension." The Captain shook his head after getting rid of John's spiritual connection, carefully experiencing the familiar feeling, and whispered under the eager gaze of Clark and the others.

"Data dimension?" Wayne and the others repeated the Captain's answer in their hearts, then looked at the Captain, waiting for his next words.

"The data dimension was first discovered by Luke. Stark and Dr. Banner speculated that the emergence and even the birth of the data dimension are closely related to Luke. Luke is one of the controllers of the data dimension. You can understand it as a unique universe, or a higher-dimensional world."

"What is its purpose?" Luther asked. He didn't have much ill feeling towards Luke, especially after learning about his deeds. But Luther never lacked confrontation and rivalry between smart people.

He really wanted to clash with Luke.

With sufficient understanding and preparation.

"Is it a weapon made by Luke?" Thinking of the restrictions and weakening they had suffered, Wayne had already regarded it as some kind of rule-based weapon.

"Weapon? No, why would you think that?" The Captain looked at them in surprise: "The data dimension, in Luke's words, is a platform used to quickly advance scientific research. Although he later added a lot of functions to it. In our place, almost all of our scientific researchers are users of the data dimension. It can be used to replace all scientific research instruments, simulate various experimental environments as needed, and store and protect all scientific research data.

It liberated scientists' resources and funding problems. In our place, all scientific researchers are loyal supporters of the data dimension. They use it, study it, and improve it. That is an open dimension. It brings not destruction, but convenience and change!"

"But if this is the case, why are we restricted and affected?" Barry asked.

"I'm sorry, I don't know more. All my knowledge of the data dimension comes from Luke, as well as the explanations of Stark and other companies and laboratory scientists.

In fact, research data on the data dimension is the most precious secret of every giant company and laboratory. For the sake of confidentiality, except for some well-known popular science information, they mostly guard against other information, and only those who have signed a confidentiality contract provided by the bank can know the secret research information about the data dimension.

Of course, there are also some who are willing to publicly share their research results, but that is a very small number, and only those who have access to the data dimension are qualified and have channels to access and purchase it.

Overall, the existence of the data dimension is positive and of great significance to mankind and a civilization. What happened to you may be from Thanos's restrictions." The Captain shook his head and explained all the information he knew about the data dimension in detail.

The Captain's words made it impossible for everyone to determine whether the restrictions they were carrying came from Thanos's restrictions after his death or from the data dimension. Wayne and Luther instinctively questioned the data dimension, even though it was full of praise in the Captain's mouth. Luther also yearned for the data dimension described by the Captain, after all, this dimension can be called the dream place of all scientific researchers. But this does not prevent him from suspecting that the data dimension has some special uses.

"Did that Luke say what the data dimension originated from? If it is another universe or world, shouldn't there be various disasters similar to [collisions] between the two worlds?" Luther asked.

"I don't know what the data dimension originated from. It was born after an invasion event caused by a space gem. Luke defined it as a world that coexists with the universe, and it is not accurate to use entities and shadows to describe it, but it can be explained. You can understand it as the virtual dark side of the universe. Can it be considered an operating platform for the rules of the universe? Just like the operating system you know. The entity of the universe is hardware, and it is software. Of course, this is just my personal understanding, in fact, there may be many errors in this understanding." The Captain scratched his hair: "After all, it is too difficult for me, a combatant, to forcibly understand the large pile of obscure professional terms said by scientific researchers. If it were Stark or Dr. Banner, they might be able to give you more accurate and detailed answers."

"One last question, does the appearance of the data dimension mean that Luke has come to our universe?" Wayne asked the last question when he saw that the Captain didn't know more information.

This question also quieted the surroundings again and focused everyone's attention on the Captain.

"If I say I don't know, would you believe it?" The Captain spread his hands with a wry smile, his tone very uncertain. "Although I fought alongside Luke, he prefers to stay in his laboratories. I don't know if he will personally come to pick me up home, or arrange for someone else to come."

Just as everyone was about to say something, those with keen senses on the field seemed to sense something and looked up at the ceiling of the cave base. A dazzling beam of light destroyed the rocks above the base and accurately covered the area where the Captain was located.
