Chapter 31
After turning off four potions classes, Harry spent the whole day on the 23rd practicing dragon fighting.
But Harry still hadn't managed to beat the Ukrainian iron belly.
Sirius became very impatient, the game was about to start on the afternoon of the 24th, and judging by Harry's situation, it was obviously impossible to defeat that fire dragon.
But Peter seemed very calm, he has been encouraging Harry and Sirius to continue to practice step by step.
The 24th seemed to Harry to be sped up, time seemed to jump straight from morning to noon.
He could only vaguely remember that there seemed to be a History of Magic section in the morning.
Just as he was sending scrambled eggs up his nostrils in a daze, Professor McGonagall hurried towards him.
"Potter, the game is about to start, and the warriors must get ready." McGonagall's voice was calm, but she looked as upset as Hermione.
"Okay." Harry stood up stiffly, dropping his fork on the plate with a clang.
"Harry, good luck..." whispered Hermione.
"Oh." Harry's throat seemed to be blocked by Babo tuber.
Ron secretly looked at Harry, hesitant to speak.
Harry followed Professor McGonagall mechanically, stepped on her heels several times, and the eyes of the entire auditorium were on him.
As he passed the Slytherin table, he caught a glimpse of the Slytherins all happily wearing "Support Cedric Diggory" badges.
But he didn't care anymore, the badge was nothing in front of a fire dragon that was almost impossible to defeat.
Turning the corner of the table, he almost bumped into Professor Snape.
Snape was standing near the Slytherin table, leaning on his cane, and nodded almost imperceptibly to Harry with a rare smile on his face.
Harry and Professor McGonagall left the Great Hall together, and went into some newly erected tents on the edge of the Forbidden Forest.
Fleur Delacour, Victor Krum, and Cedric had already entered, all pale.
Professor Peddie and Sirius are also in the tent. Under Dumbledore's arrangement, they will participate in the game today as security guards.
Mr. Ludo Bagman, the commentator, was the only cheerful person in the tent. When he saw Harry coming in, he introduced the competition items very loudly, and happily took out a cloth bag, and asked the warriors to draw the fire dragon that they would fight against later.
The other three warriors drew their dragon models, and it was Harry's turn at last.
Sirius stared intently at the bag, but Peter remained calm and indifferent.
With trembling hands Harry took out the last model - a Hungarian Horntail.
This was the most ferocious of the four dragons, and it was far from something Harry could handle with his daily failures of multiple stunning spells.
Sirius' face was green at that moment, and he glanced anxiously at Peter's profile, only to find that Peter's expression didn't change at all.
"Okay! Professors, please take your places, the warriors are about to enter the field!" Mr. Bagman shouted cheerfully.
Peter, McGonagall, and Sirius exited the tent, and Sirius looked back at Harry reluctantly as he walked out.
But Harry didn't respond, he seemed to have been petrified along with the other three warriors and became immobile.
Peter and Sirius walked to the front row of the stands, and Sirius had quietly drawn out his wand, watching his surroundings vigilantly.
"Bagman said that the game only needs to grab the golden egg, not to defeat the fire dragon, maybe Harry still has a role to play." Sirius whispered, as if to comfort himself.
Peter just smiled and nodded.
After a while, Cedric walked into the field, and he conjured up a dog, which attracted the attention of the fire dragon.
However, when he went to steal the golden egg, the dragon abandoned the dog and breathed fire on Cedric instead.
"Oh, what a risk!" cried Bagman.
Fifteen minutes later, accompanied by cheers, Cedric managed to get the golden egg, but half of his face was burned.
Next came Fleur Delacour, who was even faster, taking just 10 minutes.
Further down was Krum, whose strategy was about the same as Harry's and took less time than Delacour, but the dragon broke the golden egg in half as it struggled.
As Harry's playing time approached, Sirius' eyes became more and more distracted.
He didn't seem to hear the noise of the crowd, nor did he see Krum's beautiful eye-sick spell.
The fourth whistle sounded, and Harry numbly stepped out of the tent.
The crowd was noisy.
At one end of the field, the Hungarian Horntail crouched impressively on the golden egg, folded its wings to protect the golden egg under it, and fixed its vicious yellow eyes on Harry.
It twisted its spiky tail, leaving pits and pits on the hard ground. If it was whipped by this tail, the consequences could be imagined.
Harry took a deep breath and raised his wand.
Beside Peter, Sirius also gasped, staring at his godson, wand clutched tightly in his hand.
Even if Voldemort himself showed up now, Sirius Black would not hesitate to rush to make him look good.
"Look, Mr. Potter has raised his wand. A good show is about to begin. What kind of strategy will he use?" Bagman said loudly.
Harry tentatively cast an Eye Sickness Charm, but the spell flew past the dragon's head.
"The first spell! Oh, what a pity... No, the Horntail is angry! It's breathing fire!"
Harry dodged the flames, and the Horntail let out a growl of rage, its mouth wide open.
"Mr. Potter is about to use the second trick! See what he's going to do. It's—"
Ludo Bagman's commentary suddenly stopped.
Beside Harry, another Harry appeared.
The entire stand fell silent, and everyone opened their mouths in astonishment, watching what happened in front of them.
The newly-appeared Harry raised his wand, and a crisp eye spell hit the Horntail's eye.
The hornet's body stood upright, and it spread its wings frantically.
However, in the next second, five stun spells cut through the air sharply and hit it precisely on the neck.
The hornet's huge body froze in the air for a moment, and then fell down powerlessly.
Harry watched in astonishment as his other self disappeared into thin air, but soon he came to his senses: the unconscious dragon was about to smash the golden egg—
"The golden egg is flying!"
Harry pointed his wand, and the golden egg flew towards him.
It narrowly missed the Horntail's fallen body and flew into Harry's arms.
There was still no sound in the stands, and people didn't seem to realize what happened in front of them.
"Mr. Potter got the golden egg! Mr. Potter got the golden egg!" Ludo Bagman roared loudly, "30 seconds, Mr. Potter only took 30 seconds!"
