Chapter 14 New look (new year, Vientiane update!)
Upon seeing Mr. Crouch, Umbridge immediately restrained himself and put on a flattering smile.

"Mr. Minister, I am optimizing the teaching staff at Hogwarts according to your wishes."

"All right, all right, let this matter pass quickly." Mr. Crouch waved his hand and said impatiently.

Mr. Crouch was pale, his brow furrowed, and he looked worried.

He seemed to be preoccupied with other things entirely, and had no interest in Umbridge's report.

Professor Trelawney squatted on the ground covering her face and weeping, with Peter, McGonagall, Flitwick and Sprout beside her to comfort her.

Dumbledore walked towards Professor Trelawney, bent down and stretched out a hand, gently pulled her up from the ground, and helped her back to her seat.

Mr. Crouch was standing next to Dumbledore, still immersed in his own thoughts, watching what happened in front of him with blurred eyes.

"Mr. Minister, according to your "Education Order No. 19"..." Umbridge made another flattering attempt to get Mr. Crouch's attention, but he didn't seem to hear her at all.

After Trelawney was settled, Dumbledore politely invited Mr. Crouch to take his headmaster's seat, but Mr. Crouch shook his head and refused.

So Dumbledore conjured up a chair next to his own, sat Mr. Crouch down, and then he turned around and said to the students in the auditorium:

"Everyone, it's too late now, let's have dinner!"

"Wait, Professor Dumbledore," said Umbridge urgently, "shouldn't we get the teachers fired first? Two teachers failed..."

Dumbledore looked at Umbridge and said with a smile, "I think the grade may not be accurate enough. Maybe we should change the dismissal to probation. What do you think, Mr. Crouch?"

Mr. Crouch nodded absently, and it was obvious that his thoughts were not at all here.

Umbridge gave a smirk, bowed to Mr. Crouch, and said in a little girl's voice:

"Okay, then during the probation period of these two teachers, the Magic Education Committee will continue to supervise and assess tirelessly, in the hope that our distinguished foreign guests can see a completely new Hogwarts."

Dumbledore nodded approvingly: "Thank you, Dolores, I appreciate the efforts of the Magic Education Committee in preparing for the Triwizard Tournament."

He bowed slightly to Umbridge, and went on:
"Hogwarts Castle is in urgent need of cleaning and decoration. Merlin, the dirt that has accumulated in the dark corners for thousands of years is really difficult to remove. Hogwarts will definitely need your help to make Hogwarts look brand new. "

It took Umbridge a few seconds to understand Dumbledore's words, and the smirk on her face froze, and she looked at Mr. Crouch for help.

But Mr. Crouch just nodded mechanically, still looking lost.

Dumbledore turned around the teachers' table and made his way to his seat.

He winked playfully at the teachers as his face was turned at an angle that no one in the Ministry could see.

*
After that night, Hogwarts returned to its original calm and peace.

Dumbledore now eats with everyone every day, and he often reads newspapers, magazines and academic journals while eating custard tortillas.

His favorite journal is "Transfiguration Today". Whenever he finds some interesting magic theory in the book, he will share it with Peter and McGonagall with great interest, just like a child showing off a newly bought toy.

He often does some mindless things that ordinary people can't understand, such as suddenly pouring a handful of biscuits into Professor Flitwick's plate, or stuffing a few lemon sherbets into Professor Snape's pocket sugar.

These actions of Dumbledore were summarized by Rita Skeeter as "an old lunatic", but Peter and other teachers have long been used to it, and only Snape was speechless and helpless about his behavior.

Peter always felt that Dumbledore's thoughts were always settled on those deeper themes. For these trivial matters of life, Dumbledore was too lazy to spend his energy, so he behaved like an old urchin.

Peter's Defense Against the Dark Arts class is still the most popular class in the school.

The students' enthusiasm for practicing creating magic spaces has not faded in the slightest, and most of them can already create palm-sized magic spaces.

Since October, Peter has started to teach some students who have better mastery to engrave some simple small items.

Hermione, who was the fastest learner, had engraved more than a dozen items, but she didn't dare to try to engrave living things.

Hagrid was in a much better mood, although the students had to endure the boredom of Glober caterpillars for a few weeks.

But Hagrid mysteriously hinted to Harry, Ron and Hermione that he would raise a very strange creature.

"Hagrid wouldn't want to keep acromantia." Ron commented worriedly, he was most afraid of spiders, and he would feel terrified when he saw them.

Professor Trelawney kept herself locked up in the Tower, and Lavender and Parvati often visited her with horoscope cards.

Professor Snape was still very strict, and he treated the four houses equally when criticizing students, but everyone soon discovered that he never deducted points from his own Slytherin house.

He has tamed most of the Slytherin students under both grace and power, and now he can often be seen surrounded by Slytherin students.

One day a notice was put up under the marble staircase:
***Triwizard Tournament***
Representatives of Beauxbatons and Durmstrang will arrive at six o'clock in the evening on Friday, October [-]th.

******
The notice had a noticeable effect on the people in the castle, and for the next week there seemed to be only one topic of conversation: the Triwizard Tournament.

Every college is pushing its own warrior candidate, and Hufflepuff's Cedric Diggory is entrusted with the glory that Hufflepuff has never seen in a thousand years.

Harry and Ron also quietly came to Peter's office to find him, begging him to reveal who was the referee who selected the warriors, but Peter refused them with a smile.

The members of the Magical Education Committee were grimly scrubbing the floors, ceilings, and portraits on the walls every day, and Umbridge watched them work with displeasure.

On the evening of October [-]th, the Magic Education Committee had completely renovated the auditorium.

Huge silk banners hung on the walls, each representing a school.

The red background with a golden lion represents Gryffindor.

The green background with a silver python represents Slytherin.

The blue background with a bronze eagle represents Ravenclaw.

A yellow background with a black badger represents Hufflepuff.

Behind the teacher's bench hangs the largest banner with the Hogwarts crest: lions, eagles, badgers, and snakes tightly surrounded by a huge "H".

The four deans are maintaining order in their respective colleges, and let the students line up and wait on the field outside the auditorium.

Peter stood beside Dumbledore with the other teachers, waiting for the arrival of the foreign dignitary.

Night has fallen, the bright moon has risen, the stars are twinkling, the cool wind blows across the venue, and the shadows of the Forbidden Forest in the distance sway gently.

The students were talking excitedly and softly. They were talking about how foreigners would come, when they would come, and whether they would stop coming.

"Will they Apparate in?" Ron asked.

"Why haven't you read 'Hogwarts, A History'?" said Hermione, "No apparation in the school!"

At this moment, Dumbledore beside Peter shouted——

"Ah! Beauxbaton's representative has arrived!"
