Once a thing is completely dependent on imports, the right to speak is in the hands of others. For the sake of competition, foreign crankshaft suppliers have repeatedly adopted restrictive policies against China. Even if they agree to supply, the lead time is unbearably long. Domestic diesel engine factories are often restricted by the supply of crankshafts and are unable to manufacture the diesel engines required by shipyards. This is the so-called "engine isometric".

The reason why large crankshafts cannot be manufactured in China is due to the manufacturing difficulty of crankshaft processing equipment, that is, CNC heavy-duty crankshaft milling and turning compound machine tools. The length of workpieces processed by this machine tool can reach 15 meters and the weight reaches 180 tons, and the processing accuracy error cannot exceed 0.02 mm, which is 1/4 of a human hair.
