Wasteland Development Diary

#57 - Snake Island Buildings

Since the company's base was stocked with a large number of housing units used as ammunition, there was no need for a warm-up or manufacturing phase. Numerous flying houses rose from the ground, and after being ignited by Emerald City, they bombarded the area behind the Spine Hunters.

Instantly, the Dead Sea, resembling a cloud country on the ground, was filled with rising flames and explosions, blocking the pursuing monsters.

After opening fire, Zhou Yi asked Red Falcon, "What are they?"

"Victory Snakes."

The drone replied, "This is a C-level creature that lives in the Dead Sea. Individually, they are not strong, but when their numbers reach a certain level, their destructive power greatly increases, and they can even kill B-level creatures."

An electronic illustrated book appeared on the remote control screen.

The Victory Snake is a black, serpentine creature, but its body is not soft. It is more like a snake composed of blocks, like the game Snake, that can fold and turn in all directions, giving it a strange mechanical feel.

Its spherical head has a silver single eye, and it flicks its tongue.

The rating appeared next to it.

...

【Victory Snake】

Strength: D

Skill: C

Vitality: E

Rating: C

Habits: Gregarious, rare, social creatures with a strong sense of territory. They can work together. The more there are, the more dangerous they are.

...

This is a Light-Nano species with skills at its core.

Red Falcon added, "Victory Snake's 【Poison Break】 is a medium-range attack skill that can be sprayed at high speed. It can penetrate the defenses of flesh and blood machines without specific cancellation mechanisms, causing direct damage. This ability can be continuously stacked, increasing the damage to an extremely high level."

"In addition, Victory Snakes are very fast and can use the Dead Sea for long-distance jumps and glides, so once their numbers increase, even B-level creatures can be hunted by them."

It's actually a high-speed poison cannon.

Zhou Yi thought, no wonder the Spine Hunters had to run away.

However, under the flying house bombardment, the red dots representing the Victory Snakes still chose to retreat rapidly. They kept their distance, baring their fangs and spitting their tongues at the fleeing Spine Hunters, as if cursing and making threats.

Then, these serpentine creatures disappeared into the Dead Sea.

Hunter Sea flew to the air next to Emerald City in lingering fear: "These snakes are really crazy. I wasn't even prepared to hunt them, but they besieged me instead... Everything is going crazy in winter."

Zhou Yi said through Red Falcon, "You said you found other Dead Sea anomalies?"

"Yes, Uncle, I wouldn't dare to lie to you about that."

After being rescued, Hunter Sea's tone also became much more respectful: "Originally, I was thinking of cleaning up my previous temporary nest before coming to work for you."

"But after taking the salary you gave me, I thought I should do something myself. My mom taught me since I was little that I can't take people's kindness for nothing. There has to be give and take, otherwise you'll never get the respect of other lives and you can't become a Sea Lord."

"So I thought of a snake den I passed by while hunting, on a small island in the Dead Sea. Victory Snake eggs are a pretty good thing. Breaking them and pouring them on the ground will grow snake-shaped flowers that emit a special fragrance. I wanted to give them to you as a gift."

"But when I arrived at that snake den, just as I was about to look for snake eggs, I discovered that the snake den was actually alive. It would slowly move on that small island, collect various flowers and plants, and help the Victory Snakes. It was a quiet and gentle Dead Sea anomaly."

"I observed it there for a long time, but before I could take any eggs, I alarmed the snake group and fought with them. But there were too many of them, and I was outnumbered, so I ran back first..."

Zhou Yi sent Red Falcon out to investigate.

As a result, the place did exist, in the Dead Sea area about 60 kilometers northeast of Emerald City. There was an inconspicuous small island shrouded in mist.

Since it exceeded the real-time audio and video transmission distance, Red Falcon performed multi-angle aerial photography.

In this 6-minute live recording, Zhou Yi saw that there was indeed a 4-story building on the island.

It was much smaller than Emerald City, square, and the surface was covered with large patches of moss and stains. There was a mottled red cross on the outer wall.

A large number of Victory Snakes guarded the building, intertwining and forming a protective circle.

These local creatures also performed a ritualistic act on the building.

At 1 minute and 04 seconds, they brought a captured bone fish to a stone platform next to the building and crushed it. The square building immediately stretched out a root formed by the raised soil and absorbed the light seeds extracted from the skeleton.

Then, at 1 minute and 12 seconds, a Victory Snake with a missing piece of its body and bleeding was carried into the square building by its kind. A white flash appeared in a room on the second floor, lasting for 30 seconds.

At 5 minutes and 24 seconds, the injured snake slowly came out, its blood had stopped, and the wound had solidified into a black scab.

Zhou Yi suddenly understood.

This is a small hospital.

Red Falcon reported its investigation conclusions: "That island is already the de facto territory of the Victory Snakes, and this building life has some characteristics of a hospital. The Victory Snakes have learned to use some of its characteristics."

"This building life has treatment functions. From the cases observed externally, it will examine and treat the injured who enter it. However, the specific internal situation is still unknown."

"The Victory Snakes provide the hospital with light seeds so that it can have the energy to treat the wounded. They also choose to give birth inside it to increase the survival rate of their offspring."

The latest novels are first published on 6-9 books!

"In addition, I also filmed the Victory Snakes on the island going into the Dead Sea to find some basic medical supplies, such as clean bandages, sutures, oils, etc., to provide to the building life. The previously recorded Victory Snake wounded were treated by applying oil and high temperature to the wound, achieving hemostasis through scab formation."

"The Victory Snake group and the building life have formed a de facto synergistic symbiosis."

The drone compiled some data on Snake Island.

"...The number of Victory Snakes on the island is over 540, excluding individuals who go out hunting and appear underwater. The danger level in this area is extremely high, and its threat is equivalent to a B+ level creature."

This number directly dispelled Zhou Yi's thoughts.

Although he was very interested in that hospital, with the company's current combat power, it was an impossible task to conquer Snake Island in a short time.

It is important to focus on farming and developing mushrooms now.

However, this is still a very valuable piece of external intelligence.

Zhou Yi told Hunter Sea, "I know about Snake Island, you did a good job. Go patrol."

"Yes, Uncle."

Seeing that he was not blamed, his tone seemed slightly relieved.

"Also, don't call me Uncle, call me Chairman."

"Yes, Chairman!" He lowered his voice: "I will definitely not let others know about our relationship. I will complete the tasks you give me like other ordinary employees..."

"..."

Zhou Yi's eyelids twitched.

I've become an uncle?

This kid really thinks he's a relative.

From the results, the winter beasts of the winter disaster have become the company's temporary guards. This one subtraction and one addition has improved the company's industrial safety guarantee in the winter. Some small flaws are acceptable.

But even with Red Falcon's reading, Zhou Yi felt it was difficult to figure out what this Spine Hunter kid was thinking.
