Warhammer: In the Name of the Emperor

Chapter 496 Resurrection from the Ashes: Act 2-Olivia’s Death

Jack was frightened, really. As a child who was just fourteen years old and whose knowledge of war was limited to stories and books, he was frightened by what he saw.

The ferocious demons howled and roared in front of him. Jack looked around for anything that could be called a weapon, but he found nothing. Bricks could not kill those demons.

"Jack." Aunt Olivia called to herself, but Jack didn't react at all. He fell into a trance amidst the sounds of gunfire and slashing.

Seeing that shouting was useless, Olivia grabbed Jack's shoulders and slapped him on the head to make him react. Jack looked at his aunt's face with a panicked and confused expression.

"Aunt, this, we should"

"Jack, listen, no matter what happens next, calm down, think about what we taught you, and remember your responsibilities as the Governor."

"Aunt, what are you talking about?" Jack didn't understand. At this moment, he also noticed that Olivia had an extra necklace around her neck today, with a gem tied to it.

"Remember your identity, don't be afraid, you must be brave for Victoria."

"What?" Jack asked in surprise, still not understanding, but Olivia stood up with a smile. She rubbed Jack's head, and then looked at Wen Yanar again.

She smiled and said, "Take care of him for me."

A gunshot rang out, and before the words could be spoken, a beam of light penetrated Olivia's chest, and she threw herself forward and fell to the ground.

Jack was stunned for a moment when he looked at his fallen aunt. His mind went blank, as if he had turned into a tree. Then he saw Stern holding a pistol.

The latter looked panicked and looked at Anthony aside, but the latter took a few steps back and pointed at Stern's arm, "Traitor! He is a heretic!"

"No, no! Wait, me!" Stern begged quickly, but it was already too late.

Jack, whose mind was blank, suddenly felt a surge of anger in his heart. He lay on the ground and pulled out Olivia's gun, pointed it at the guy and pulled the trigger mercilessly.

The laser shot through Stern's head, and he collapsed to the ground with his voice choked in his throat. Jack raised the gun and looked at him, and then looked at Tyrfan to the side. His eyes widened in shock.

Wen Yanal rushed forward. She came to Olivia with her blood-stained skirt to check the injury, and Jack also rushed forward. He looked at his aunt with tears in his eyes.

While he was crying, he heard gunshots from behind him, and when he saw Olivia lying on the ground, Vito rushed over. He knelt down on one knee and picked up Olivia.

She lay in his arms, looking at the man in front of her with blurred eyes. She smiled with blood, touched Vito's face with her bloody hands, then slipped her arms and closed her eyes.

"Aunt!" Jack shouted desperately, his face full of tears, and he also noticed the anger that instantly rose on Vito's face, and several cultists behind him who took this opportunity to sneak attack him exploded instantly.

Vito looked at Olivia's face with cold anger. He gently smoothed the blood-stained hair on her forehead with his hand, and then pulled out the gem pendant from her chest.

Jack looked at Vito. He laid Olivia flat on the ground and slowly stood up. He glared at Anthony in the distance with his eyes. Jack noticed the fear that flashed on his face for a moment.

But Vito didn't say anything. He turned around, clenched the sword in his hand, and said in a cold tone, "Kill them all."

The people behind Jack were panicked for a moment, especially Tyrfan. They were relieved when they noticed that what Astartes and Vitor were killing were demons and cultists.

But they were still frightened enough, and they were trembling all over. Jack looked at the pale faces of many of them, while others turned their backs and scratched something on their arms. Even if the blood flowed, there was still blood. He continued with a horrified expression.

But Jack didn't care so much now. He knelt on the ground and looked at his aunt on the ground in front of him. He looked at her calm face. The blood stained her clothes red, leaving a blood hole on her chest.

Jack couldn't remember clearly what happened after that. He forgot when all the demons were eliminated and all the cultists died on the spot. He also forgot how he came out.

He stood at the door of the church in confusion, staring blankly at Olivia's body being carried on a stretcher. Her body was covered with Wen Yaner's wedding dress, as if she was wrapped in white cloth.

Several Mechanicus priests whom he didn't know carried his aunt's body onto the Archaeopteryx transport plane. Doctors in white coats appeared on it. They were talking in low voices, but Jack couldn't hear it.

He stood helplessly in front of the church that was covered in blood. Most of his pants were stained red by blood, which was stained when he came out of the church. Wen Yanal, who was also covered in blood, stood beside him, comforting him.

But Jack didn't listen to his fiancée's words at all. His ears seemed to be ringing and he couldn't hear anything clearly.

Vito came to him, raised his head, and looked at him with red eyes.

"Olivia, what did I say to you last?" he asked.

"Like a true Governor."

Vito was silent for a long time, looking down at Jack, and then spoke after a long time.

"Then let her wish," he said, "and don't let her down."

"Your Excellency Marshal."

While Vito was talking to Jack, Bell came up from the side. The leader of the Ultramarines had blood all over his legs, and his gun seemed to be painted with blood red paint.

"We got news that a Chaos rebellion broke out in the east of the planet." Bell said while holding the data plate. "Sir Anthony provided reliable positioning. I believe the culprit of this shameful attack is there."

Jack noticed that Vito didn't answer Bell. He just raised his head and looked at Anthony coldly. The latter tried hard to pretend that nothing had happened, but Jack could tell that he was scared.

Vito looked at him, his eyes cold and full of murderous intent, but in the end he did nothing. He stared at Tyrfan and the others, who were horrified under the marshal's gaze.

"Remember, kid." Vito suddenly said to himself, "No matter what happens, face them bravely, hold on, and defeat them."

Jack was indifferent for a moment, then nodded after thinking for a while, he gradually began to understand.

Vito also nodded to him, then handed the gem in his hand to a chaplain of the war group, and then strode away. Bell and Lancelot led their companies to follow him.

Jack and Wen Yanal looked at the Thunder Eagle taking off.

"Governor Jack."

He looked behind him and saw that Anthony was calling him. He had a heated argument with Tyrfan and a few others, then scolded them despite all opinions, and then looked at him.

"The current situation is chaotic and we must hold an emergency meeting," he said.

"As the new Governor, you need to run this meeting."

"Yes."

Jack looked at him and said, and then looked at Wen Yanal, and he understood.

"In the name of the Emperor, I will."

"I will defend my duty." He swore secretly in his heart, to his aunt and to the marshal.

At this moment, this fourteen-year-old child was as tall as a golden statue of an emperor.
