Warhammer 40,000: Mortal Gods

Chapter 549 Falcon Past

The sound of artillery fire echoed above the city of Hekaton.

The attack of the plague zombies has not stopped for a moment, but fortunately the city's defenses have been established.

A ring of repaired walls protects the entire Hekaton.

The city walls were full of heavy weapons that appeared out of nowhere. Soldiers took turns operating heavy weapons to shoot at the plague zombies. The entire outside of Hekaton was a sea of fire.

Drones also appeared out of nowhere and patrolled every street in the city.

The white drones, protected by the black drones, went to every inhabited house or to the military camp.

The black drones equipped with weapons issued cold broadcasts, ordering everyone to obey order.

The white drones heal the wounded or scan everyone for the plague.

Order, safety.

These two most important things for humanity are returning to cities.

"Team 12, I hope you can go to the northern city wall to participate in the defense."

"No! Gru doesn't listen to anyone except the leader!"

"It was your captain who gave me the power to dispatch you."

"Gru doesn't believe it, and Gru doesn't understand what power is. Anyway, Gru just listens to the leader."

Zabriel, who was in charge of the defense work, ran into a little trouble. He hoped to place a team of Ogryns on the city wall, but these Ogryns were unwilling.

Three Burning Falcons and two of the Fallen Angels' battle-brothers followed Zabriel, so the scene was somewhat awkward in the presence of onlookers.

"I say for the last time, go or be punished." Zabriel said to the wise man.

The wise man was annoyed and got up and rushed towards Zabriel.

But Zabriel dodged the forward attack, turned around, hugged Smart Guy's arm, and used the force of Smart Guy's forward punch to throw him out.

The smart guy didn't wear power armor, otherwise Zabriel would have to consider calling the son of Antaeus.

The smart guy who was thrown away and smashed a bunch of boxes got up, touched his head, turned around and said to the subordinates in the team: "This dwarf is so powerful, he must have the authorization of the group leader to follow Gru."

After taking care of the Ogryns, Zabriel turned to look at the Burning Falcons: "Lando, I would like to ask you to fly to the auxiliary army so that they can prepare to replace the Tyron army that will come down from the city wall in six hours."

The burning falcon named Lando jumped up and quickly went to convey Zabriel's order.

Lando carried orders everywhere, and he and Zabriel habitually said "please" to those who were not among their subordinates, and took off their helmets while speaking.

This habit was developed on Karis.

Although they have been accepted, they are still polite out of habit out of gratitude or fear of losing their new home.

After conveying Zabriel's order with another invitation, Lando turned around and prepared to fly to the next place, but then a voice sounded from the darkness.

"You seem to have lost your most basic dignity as an Emperor's Angel."

"Serve a sector, not an empire..."

"Like a bereaved dog that flatters its master."

A nun in red armor came out of the darkness, leaned against the wall next to Lando, and looked at him contemptuously.

"Not just you, but also those Dark Angels...do their war group know that they came out to work for a heretic sector?"

This sentence angered Lando.

Lando wanted to endure it, just like he had endured every time he faced provocation, but the more he thought about it, the angrier he became. In the end, he couldn't help but argue to Iolanth: "You know what I've been through, just come and accuse me. ?Get out of here, I don't want to lose my and my brothers' chance to rebuild the Chapter by killing a nun."

"I don't know what you have been through, but I know that for an Astartes, loyalty takes precedence over everything else, including battle-brothers and Chapter." Iolanth said.

The nun's tone was light.

Lance, who was about to put on his helmet and leave, was furious, walked up to Iolas and looked down at her.

"If I wasn't loyal enough, I would be in the Eye of Terror or the Maelstrom, serving a warband. I still stick to my duty and defend humanity. How dare you accuse me?"

Every word in this sentence was squeezed out from between the teeth.

Lando was trembling with anger.

Iolaanth didn't know why Lando was so angry, but she persisted in her opinion, trying to persuade a lost Astartes to resume his duties.

"You think you are loyal, but you are working as a lackey for a heretic leader."

"screw you!"

A hole was punched in the wall next to Iolas.

"My Chapter was once extremely loyal, and this loyalty lasted until the Chapter's demise."

"What do you know and you are just barking nonsense here? If I return to the empire, I will be executed and lose the honor of continuing to fight for humanity!"

Iolas looked at Lando coldly and shook his head: "Is the story of your war group the same as that of the traitors? If it is the same, you don't need to tell it. I have already guessed it."

"You slandered my battle brothers!" Lando grabbed Iolansi's neck and lifted her up from the ground.

"My battle-brothers have responded without hesitation to any call for aid, any request to join the battle, any request from an Inquisitor."

"Then after a mission to help the Inquisitor in combat, the Inquisitor saw our mutation."

"I don't know why, but the Burning Falcon will ignite flames. This flame will not hurt itself, nor will it hurt any good people, but it still becomes the reason why we are suspected."

Iolansi listened to every syllable that contained anger and grievance, searching for information about the Burning Falcon in his brain, but found nothing.

She didn't even know such a war group existed.

"Then the Inquisitor did something to us..."

Tears flowed from the corners of Lando's eyes and fell on his shoulder armor.

"The Inquisitor said he wanted to thank us and let us attend the celebration, and then we believed it and passed."

"What awaits us is not glory or reward, but another battle group."

"The Librarian protected three recruits during a one-sided massacre by Terminator-clad Space Marines against unarmored and unarmed Space Marines."

"Think Tank Burning created the portal himself, and three new recruits walked in."

"As the portal closed, the recruits saw the Chapter Master with his limbs removed as he rolled and knocked over a Space Marine before he could rush through the portal and kill all three recruits."

"And the think tank had his head crushed by the think tank of another battle group."

"I'm one of the three new recruits."

Lando talked about the past events of the war group and used more force on his hands.

Iolansi heard the sound of the force feedback armor breaking, and heard the sound of his own bones rubbing under the squeeze.

Lando was in tears and looked fierce.

But he burst out laughing.

"Hahaha...a judge can decide the life or death of a war group!"

"He killed a battle group with just his words and did something that many enemies couldn't do! Hahaha!"

Lando felt that this thing was ridiculous and sad from the bottom of his heart. His eyes drooped and he burst into tears, but at the same time he laughed.

"Sisters Iolanth!"

Just when the red-armored nun was about to be strangled to death, a white-armored nun suddenly came to the two of them.

She found this place by following the locator of the Force Feedback Armor, and wanted to report the matter, but she suddenly ran into this terrible scene.

Lando released his hands, put on his helmet and left.

The nun raised her bolter: "Stand there and don't move!"

Lando glanced back at the nun, turned around and continued walking: "You fire. A member of the Tyrone Army died in the hands of the Inquisition. I don't mind using my life to kick off the destruction of the Inquisition."

The nun immediately prepared to pull the trigger, but Iolance, who had slowed down, stopped her.

"Let him go."

"Sister, let him go."

The nun put away her bolter and ran to Iolanth to help her up.

The nun helped Iolas walk while reporting the matter: "Captain Grote found a survivor, a girl, in the south of the city."

"Is there any need to report this matter to me?" Iolansi asked.

"No...but that girl...she killed a dozen Plague Marines outside the southern wall of Hekaton."
