Two Worlds: I studied at Hogwarts
#15 - Moon's bonus points
Munn had never met a peer who loved studying as much as Hermione.
He even felt that Hermione read more books than all the other peers combined.
This is also likely the reason why Hermione has half a bar more magic than others.
Munn felt that his guess was somewhat reasonable, so he now wanted to try increasing his magical power through reading.
Although he didn't read quickly, and he needed to ask others about some of the words in the book, Munn had a very good memory, and he would never ask the same word a second time.
Just like when he first went to Hazelwood to be a caretaker, he remembered the route of the hundred-acre forest after walking it once.
After asking Hermione the meaning of seven words, Munn finally finished reading a chapter of "A History of Magic", while Hermione had already finished reading five chapters of "A Study of Recent Developments in Wizardry" at the same time.
......
Early the next morning, Munn handed the note issued by Professor McGonagall to Bouncy, repeatedly telling it not to take anything from anyone.
As his best friend, Munn didn't want Bouncy to stay in the dormitory every day; it should play to its heart's content in the castle, on the grass outside, or even by the Black Lake.
"Of course, you can't go to the Forbidden Forest. Percy said it's very dangerous there."
"Chirp!"
After receiving Bouncy's affirmative answer, Munn left the dormitory with everyone, relieved.
"I think Bouncy is just too smart. It seems to understand everything you say," Harry said, walking next to Munn with a hint of envy.
"That's right, but I just hope it doesn't cause any trouble in the castle," Munn casually replied.
"I don't think so. It's more likely that you can understand Bouncy's words," Ron interjected at this time. "By the way, have you communicated with other magical creatures?"
"No."
Munn had never thought that he would have the talent to communicate with magical creatures, but he knew that Ron knew a lot about things in the magical world, and there must be some reason for him to say that.
"Could it be that I really have this ability?"
Munn was imagining when Ron's voice came from beside him again.
"You can only test this ability when you're in third year. At that time, we'll have Care of Magical Creatures class."
Ron walked down a flight of stairs and continued, "George and Fred said this class is very safe, but you know, they often say the opposite."
The three of them chatted and arrived at the Great Hall. Munn found that Hermione was even reading during meal times.
And she was holding the big book from last night, "Hogwarts: A History".
Judging from the thickness of the pages she had turned, she had already read two-thirds of the entire book, and this only took a day.
......
In the morning's Herbology class, Munn and his group were still taken to the greenhouse from yesterday.
However, today was no longer a sightseeing-style learning, but a hands-on task of processing daffodil bulbs.
"The leaves must be cleaned up, Justin."
"Although daffodils are very beautiful, they must be cut off, Miss Granger."
"Well done, Neville Longbottom, right? But it would be best if there was less soil on the roots of the flower."
......
"Oh, very perfect. The flower cut is neat, the leaves are cleaned very well, and the flower stem is not damaged. The roots are intact with almost no soil. They can be used directly for medicinal purposes after drying."
Professor Sprout held up a processed daffodil and showed it to the surrounding people.
"This is simply a standard daffodil herb. I have to give Gryffindor five points, Mr. Munn Scanlon."
The surrounding little wizards cast envious glances. Everyone already knew that House points were very important because they were related to the honor of their House.
But a freshman who had just entered school received a reward on the second day of class, which still surprised the little wizards.
"Well done, Munn."
Harry gently nudged Munn's shoulder next to him and said softly.
"That's right, you should be the first freshman to be awarded points this year."
When Ron spoke, he glanced at Hermione's direction intentionally or unintentionally, as if he was showing off something.
Munn was also very surprised. He had never thought that his experience working at York Farm could earn him points, which made him have the illusion that magic was not very difficult.
However, the reality quickly struck Munn down and overturned this perception.
In the first Charms class in the afternoon, the small Professor Flitwick stood on a stack of textbooks and explained the relationship between Charms and magic.
"To cast a spell, you must master the incantation. Reciting the incantation requires attention not only to pitch, pauses, and tone, but most importantly, you must concentrate wholeheartedly on chanting the spell."
Professor Flitwick said, taking out his wand.
"At the same time, we must also pay attention to the technique, angle, and strength of waving the wand, avoid shaking, and ensure that the movements are smooth and at a moderate speed, such as this [Lumos]".
A very bright spot of light appeared on Professor Flitwick's wand, and the originally dim classroom was as if it was directly illuminated by the sun.
The Muggle-born wizards exclaimed in surprise, except for Hermione.
Munn was also very surprised, but he was more concerned about the wizard bar above Professor Flitwick's head.
With the dual blessing of the wand and the spell, Professor Flitwick's wizard bar had increased from five bars to six bars.
This was the longest wizard bar Munn had ever seen.
Of course, this was based on Munn's inability to see Dumbledore's wizard bar and the fact that he hadn't taken Potions class yet.
Munn clearly remembered that at the welcoming banquet for the new students, the Potions professor with a resolute face and slicked-back hair had the longest wizard bar at the time.
After Professor Flitwick finished explaining, he began to have the students practice the simplest Lumos charm.
Hermione succeeded in just one try, and she also earned five points for Gryffindor.
Just after Professor Flitwick announced the points, Hermione turned her head to look at Munn behind her.
"The technique, angle, and strength are all very good, Mr. Scarlett, but your incantation pitch is not correct."
Munn had tried his best, but these tongue-twisting incantations were indeed very difficult to pronounce.
"Don't be nervous, Mr. Longbottom. You can practice the spell and wand technique separately."
"Oh, Harry Potter, I believe you can do it, as long as you practice a few more times, right?"
"Mr. Weasley, concentrate on practicing!"
Professor Flitwick was very careful. He carefully commented on each student, but by the end of the class, only Hermione was able to maintain the Lumos charm for ten minutes.
Munn only made the wand flash, and then he never made it light up again.
"I think you need to practice your pronunciation. Your spoken English is particularly rusty and doesn't sound like a native Brit."
When leaving the classroom, Hermione pointed to Munn behind her while tidying up her textbooks.
"Indeed, I came to Britain from outside."
"No wonder. Actually, there is a book in the library called 'Modern Magical Pronunciation', written by Jemima Browning. You'd better take a closer look."
Munn's expression froze. He was still a little unaccustomed to Hermione's preachy help.
"Uh~, thank you."
"You're welcome."
Hermione raised her proud little head and walked out of the classroom door. Ron and Harry then walked over.
"Don't mind it, Munn."
Ron looked at Hermione leaving before speaking, "I knew on the train that she was very unlikable."
Munn looked at each other with Harry indifferently. Although he wouldn't speak ill of others behind their backs, he had to admit that Ron's point of view made some sense.
However, Munn's attention was not on the tone of Hermione's speech. In Ceylon, he had been called a "half-baked inspirer" for more than four years and had long been accustomed to it.
What he was curious about was how this little girl had read so many books.
"Modern Magical Pronunciation"
This sounded like another big book.
Hermione's incantation pronunciation was so standard, and she even remembered the author. Could it be that she had also memorized this book?
