Episode 4. Erin (1)

* * *

‘No way…’

I was at a loss for words, staring blankly at the latest episode titled ‘There is a god, and he is Igogodon’.

Even with a thousand won donation, miraculous things happened. Water would suddenly spring forth, or clean food would just fall on the street.

Even with just that level of intervention, I could feel a strange sense of exhilaration as if I was stirring this world to my will.

Begging for donations every episode, every moment, was a bit tacky, to say the least… but, well, I could enjoy it in my own way, so I didn’t want to blame it now.

But.

Just because it went from a thousand won to ten thousand won.

My nickname was included in the episode, and the character Erin openly stated my nickname.

After that, some kind of spear of light poured down from the sky and struck the bellies of the third-rate villains who were tormenting Erin.

The most amazing thing was the artwork depicting this part.

It was a pretty picture worth seeing, but it was transformed from that amateurish feel to a very sophisticated high-quality artwork.

As if the artist had changed!

Moreover, the messages―― Long live the ten endless thousand won donation!

The final touch to this incredible flattery was the author’s note at the end.

<Thank you so much for donating 10,000 won, Igogodon. There is a god, and we call him ‘Igogodon’. This world will never forget the incredible generosity of Igogodon, who donated 10,000 won.>

‘……’

…Oh dear. I couldn’t help but smile.

The more absurd fact than being flattered to this extent was… that I was quite enjoying this ‘flattery’.

Well, I must have enjoyed it, since I had been donating to this comic that no one else was watching, saving Erin.

[Igogodon: It was worth spending the money ㅇㅇ]

ㄴ [ PleaseGiveMeMoney (Author) : Of course! Given the significant amount of investment, it’s only natural for the world to change accordingly, isn’t it? I’ll leave a notification comment as soon as the next episode is out, so please stay with Erin’s journey until the end! ]

‘Wow. Look at the speed of that reply.’

I couldn’t help but marvel at the unbelievably quick response.

Anyway, fortunately or unfortunately, there was no begging for sponsorship at the end of this episode. Maybe it’s a sign of restraint after receiving a ten thousand won sponsorship?

Among the various complex emotions, the one feeling that stood out clearly was—

‘It was worth spending ten thousand won.’

I didn’t feel it was a waste to spend money to change the plot of a comic that no one else was watching.

* * *

Since that day, I became the only reader who followed Erin’s chronicles.

Although I was curious about what would happen next, the reason I kept watching was because the upcoming developments were truly spectacular.

After hearing the voice of God and witnessing with her own eyes the band of thieves who tormented her being pierced by a spear of light, Erin became convinced that her path was that of a saint.

From that point on, she recognized that everything, whether it was water springing up or food being found, was not a coincidence but ‘the power of God.’

Well, with the constant depiction of ‘God exists’ echoing in her mind, it was natural for her to act that way…

The problem was that now, even when I made a thousand won sponsorship, she was overly conscious of my presence.

Moreover, in dangerous situations during her journey, instead of the usual ‘author’s note’ to induce sponsorship—

[Our only God, Igogodon. I dare to ask Igogodon, please have mercy on this young lamb just once more. Grant me the opportunity to overcome this trial and deliver Igogodon’s words…]

‘……’

—she began to speak through the character ‘Erin’ in the story.

[Igogodon: What happens if I don’t sponsor this? ]

ㄴ [ PleaseGiveMeMoney (Author) : Whether you sponsor or not is entirely up to you, Igogodon! Erin will never resent you even if a miracle doesn’t come. If Igogodon’s blessing is absent, Erin will have to accept the fate that was originally set for her… But what can we do? It was destined to be that way, so please don’t feel any burden. ]

Destined to be that way.

How can I not care when they put it like that!

‘Hah… This guy is good at business.’

Why is someone this talented obsessively drawing a comic that no one watches?

‘What should I do.’

Maybe I’ve grown attached to Erin, who keeps calling my nickname.

Even though I knew that every line was input by the author, I couldn’t ignore her.

What should I call this? The feeling I had once as a child, which left a deep scar and was forgotten—the desire to be a hero.

The desire to save someone with my own hands.

At least the difference now is that the author isn’t scamming me.

Anyway, my donation relay continued on.

Want to eat soon?

1,000 won donation!

[Thanks to the grace of Ikwoteon, I was able to have a safe meal today. Thank you.]

Haven’t showered in a while? Feeling grim?

1,000 won donation!

[Thanks to Ikwoteon Father, I was able to soak in the hot spring. Once again, you’ve been kind to me. I believe this will help me maintain a more disciplined attitude towards Ikwoteon.]

Even though it was an infuriating tactic, when Erin smiled and thanked me, I couldn’t help but feel a bit happy, and I found myself grinning as well.

When was the last time I was recognized by someone?

I once overheard someone say that the human brain is simpler than we think, and that just by reading a book, you can fool yourself into feeling like you’ve lived that experience.

In other words, reading a book can have an effect almost identical to living someone else’s life vicariously.

So, it wasn’t such a foolish thing to satisfy my desire for recognition through every word Erin, a character in a comic, spoke. …Definitely, it wasn’t.

The most frustrating thing about this marketing tactic… was that, with each new chapter, Erin’s art noticeably improved.

At first, she was a girl who couldn’t even eat or bathe properly, constantly running away. But thanks to my continuous 1,000-won donations, she had managed to get a decent traveler’s outfit, eat well, and bathe cleanly in a hot spring.

Naturally, her appearance started to catch my eye. Long platinum blonde hair, sky-blue eyes that seemed to capture the heavens… When she was wearing rags, I didn’t notice, but now, dressed in proper women’s clothing, her rather voluminous chest was clearly visible.

Even though she hadn’t been able to eat properly and grew up under harsh conditions, if she upbringing had been better, how much further could she have developed? I thought for a moment, but then stopped. I felt like I was having an irreverent thought about someone who treated me like a “God.”

What caught my attention the most, however, was when she was bathing in the hot spring I had created for her.

Without realizing it, I stopped scrolling for a long time and admired her naked form.

Though, it wasn’t entirely naked; only about half of her upper body was visible since she was in the bath.

Even so, the presence of her very white and large chest was undeniable… and I couldn’t help but swallow.

‘This… Can’t we do something… maybe…?’

I shook my head, as if trying to stop myself.

No matter what, it would be too much to donate and ask her to “show a little more chest,” it would ruin my dignity.

Still… I could at least leave a compliment, right?

[ Ikwoteon (Donation / 1,000 won): Author, Erin in this chapter… she’s cute… I like the divine power pouch… heh heh ]

ㄴ [PleaseDonate (Author): Thank you! I’m honored that you like Erin. I will be sure to pass on your words to her. She will be very happy! ]

“Seriously, this concept is getting ridiculous.”

Even as I said that, I couldn’t help but smile a little.

Yeah. I’ll be honest.

Before I knew it, I was so immersed in her and her journey that spending a thousand won at a time didn’t even feel like spending money anymore.

If Erin could safely become a saint, wouldn’t that be a small price to pay?

Of course, not everything could be solved with just a thousand won.

[This is…]

What appeared before my eyes was a massive boulder.

Kneeling in front of the rock that blocked her path, Erin began to pray.

[Dear Igogodon, I humbly ask you to grant me the strength to overcome this trial. Please…]

By now, I was quite familiar with this pattern, and what caught my eye was the ‘author’s note’ that appeared after a long time.

[This time, a 1,000 won donation won’t solve the problem! ㅠㅠ Considering the mass and destructive power of the rock, it seems that only a donation of 3,000 won or more can help Erin. Please don’t turn away from Erin!]

“Ha!”

As soon as I saw the author’s note, a ridiculous laugh escaped me.

[Igogodon: Hasn’t everything been solved with just a thousand won so far?]

ㄴ [PleaseGiveMoney (author): I’m sorry. I also wanted to solve it somehow with the power of 1,000 won… but it was determined that a force of more than 3,000 won is necessary to remove a rock of this size. It’s a very shameless request, but if you are willing to help, I would appreciate it if you could support us with a donation of more than 3,000 won.]

‘Why don’t you just draw it for a thousand won, author!!!’

…was what I wanted to comment.

Well. The important thing was that I wasn’t that displeased yet.

[Igogodon (donation / 3,000 won): Let’s go quickly]

ㄴ [PleaseGiveMoney (author): Thank you! You are truly generous! We will never forget Igogodon’s bold ambition, courage, and the judgment to know exactly when to make a decision!]

In the next episode, the rock was struck by lightning and shattered.

Erin, seemingly moved, immediately looked up at the sky and began to pray.

[Igogodon, thank you. You’re watching over me, right…? I will never forget this grace I received today for the rest of my life…!!!]

‘Yeah, yeah.’

Even considering the continuous spending, it was quite an enjoyable time for me.

How much time had passed like that?

Finally, Erin arrived at the Vatican—

‘What?’

What awaited me was the despairing news that she could never become a saint.
