The Witcher: Elemental Lords
#599 - banquet
The banquet hall in Tower Nine was bustling, gathering nearly half of Wassonburg's wizards.
About half of the people from Chris's Wizard Tower also came, including Morris, Sano, Bernard, and Rosa. They were invited, and their social status warranted it. As a level-five alchemist, their status had long been elevated.
Dore and Aisi also attended. After chatting with the alchemists for a while, Lauren pulled Aisi away to the family side.
Aisi originally didn't plan to go because her personality made it difficult to get along with those people. Furthermore, some members of the family were planning to arrange a marriage between her and the Lant family, which Aisi and some of her family members strongly resisted.
Of course, their plans were just plans. As long as her father and mother didn't agree, what could the family do?
Therefore, Aisi didn't like them very much.
When Dore and Aisi arrived, the people from several major families were gathered together, all of them powerful wizards. These people, standing together, almost represented the highest combat power level of the entire Wassonburg nobility.
Seeing this, Dore sighed. Nobles were, after all, nobles. No matter how hard commoners tried, they were still many levels behind the nobility.
When Dore and Aisi arrived, the two stood together, radiating a golden and jade-like brilliance, attracting everyone's attention.
Both of them were wearing evening gowns. Aisi was beautiful and elegant, exuding the special charm of an ice beauty, making it impossible for people to look away. Dore's slightly sturdy figure, combined with his relatively calm and quiet face, created a special contrasting effect.
Dore wasn't handsome, not even as handsome as most nobles, but he was the type that grew on you. After he walked over, although he seemed unworthy of Aisi, a closer look revealed the wisdom and insight in his eyes, which even overshadowed Aisi beside him.
Lauren brought the two over, her somewhat sensually painted lips slightly parted, and said to everyone, "Didn't you want to meet Wizard Dore? I've brought him to you."
The first thing Dore noticed was that most of them were wearing blue wizard robes, which were very eye-catching in the crowd. The clothes of these people were basically the same style, only the patterns on them were different. Combined with the clothes on Aisi, Dore immediately recognized that these people were probably all from the Rhine family.
Dore was a little surprised. Did the Rhine family have so many wizards?
Secondly, he saw people with red wizard robes as the main color. Because there were a few people among them who hated Dore quite a bit, he knew that these were people from the Lant family. Then, the others all had their own characteristics.
But the most important thing was that the wizards here were either level four or level five. This was the real high-level wizard circle of Wassonburg.
Originally, he and Aisi didn't plan to come to this banquet, but due to Allen's and the family's face, they still came. They originally only planned to be invisible, eat, drink, and then leave, but they didn't expect to be pulled in front of everyone by Lauren.
He and Aisi looked at each other, and then bowed slightly to everyone.
"Dore (Aisi) greets you all (adults)."
Dore received the most attention, with goodwill, hostility, curiosity, disdain, and jealousy, all kinds of gazes. Dore knew where the hostility came from, and there was very little goodwill.
Puyousi stood in the crowd, smiled faintly, and waved to Dore, "Hehe, I thought you two weren't coming. This isn't your style."
Dore smiled awkwardly, revealing a polite smile.
With Puyousi's words, the crowd began to discuss in low voices. Some people transmitted their voices, while others spoke directly. For a time, they began to truly size up Dore.
At this time, someone sneered, "Wizard Dore's name has long been spread in the wizarding circle, but I didn't expect him to be so unremarkable when I met him. There's nothing special about him."
He was wearing a red wizard robe, exuding extreme nobility, easily overshadowing Dore.
Someone echoed beside him.
"That's right, that's right."
"Just an ordinary kid."
"Why would Aisi fall for him?"
Dore glanced at this person, showed a professional smile, and didn't comment on his words, nor did he ask the person's name.
For contempt and disdain, it's best to ignore them. Dore is very good at doing this kind of thing.
Aufitum saw Dore being slandered but not daring to retort, and felt a little happy in his heart. He stood up at this time and said, "Dore, why don't you speak? Are you afraid to speak up?"
Aisi glanced at Dore, feeling a little unbearable. This kind of scene was probably Dore's first time, and he was still a little unaccustomed to being bullied by these people. It was truly intolerable.
She was about to speak.
Dore gently stretched out his hand, patted the back of her hand, and signaled her not to speak.
He raised his head, looked at Aufitum, and didn't care about his expression or provocative words. In his opinion, this guy was just a clown. He smiled slightly and said slowly, "I only want to say two sentences today. The first sentence is to wish Lord Puyousi a smooth promotion and ascension to the Imperial Capital, and a smooth journey. The second sentence, I want to say to Lord Allen, is just a personal and private matter. I have no intention of saying a third sentence, and even if I did, it would be for my partner Aisi and Aisi's family. Who are you? Do I know you? Should I know the person behind you? Do I need to know them?"
Three "Do I know you?" instantly silenced the crowd. His subtext was simple: Who do you think you are? Who does your family think they are?
Aufitum and those who had spoken just now immediately turned red.
This kid is really sharp-tongued.
The Lant family was an old family, and Dore's words really angered them.
One of the elders, who looked respected and virtuous, looked at Dore and secretly hated him. However, he knew that now was not the time to speak. Today was Lord Puyousi's farewell banquet, and ruining it would not be good for anyone.
"It's not a bad thing for young people to boast, but saying too much is a bit too much. Today is Lord Puyousi's farewell banquet, let's all be happy." He glanced at Dore with a sinister look, and then smoothed things over without leaving a trace.
The people around saw this and began to change the subject.
Dore knew that he might have offended most of the nobles here. He didn't care, anyway, he was going to leave in the future, and he didn't even want to deal with them.
Puyousi was very busy, greeting most of the people, and Dore didn't think about going forward too early.
He was pulled by Aisi to their family's side.
Besides those few in power, Dore had only met two or three of Aisi's family's wizards, to be honest. One was Aisi's aunt Lauren, and the other was Aufil and his sister Emily. He really hadn't met the others.
However, from today's banquet, it could be seen that the Rhine family's strength was still very strong, with three or four level-six wizards alone.
Today's event, although called a banquet, was more like a time for each family to show off their strength. Without a doubt, the Rhine family was the strongest, followed by the Lant family, and then the Orn family and the Lei family.
