The Witcher: Elemental Lords
#427 - I don't know where I'm crying
Glatte pointed to a spot in the crowd where several wizards in green magic robes stood, seemingly surrounded by many people.
Dore nodded.
The crowd was too large and somewhat chaotic, making it difficult for Dore to see everything. He thought for a moment and sent messages to Morris Sano and Bernard, inviting anyone else who wished to come and bolster his presence, realizing that coming alone had been a bit rash.
He noticed others arriving in groups of five, six, seven, or even eight, giving off a more imposing air than he did alone.
In short, he felt a little unbalanced.
On the square, the two sides quickly and distinctly separated: the commoner faction and the wizard faction.
The wizard faction clearly had fewer members than the commoner faction, but the commoner faction didn't dare provoke them due to their intimidating aura.
Dore and Glatte stood to one side, chatting and Glatte introducing Dore to the various powers present, knowing that Dore didn't enjoy socializing.
As they were talking, two of the green-robed individuals Glatte had pointed out earlier approached them from a distance, walking purposefully and directly towards them without hesitation.
This surprised both Dore and Glatte, as the two factions were currently in competition, suggesting they might be looking for trouble.
"The one with the larger tree crown on his robe is one of the controllers of the Power of Nature, and he also holds the position of Elder in the Alchemist Guild. That's Vaca, a Level 5 wizard and also a Level 6 alchemist. The Level 7 alchemists of Wassonburg don't appear in public." Glatte paused. "That's Robin, a Level 4 wizard and also a Level 6 alchemist."
Dore nodded, and as they spoke, the two had reached Dore.
Vaca was taller, and with his strength having reached Level 5, his magical power had solidified into a tangible presence, making him even more imposing.
He looked at Dore, his face solemn. "Alchemist Dore, McLaren told me he obtained the patent for his limb regeneration technology from you. Is that correct?"
Dore was momentarily stunned, thinking they were there to find fault, but he hadn't expected that question.
He nodded and said, "Greetings, Wizard Vaca, Wizard Robin." He paused. "The skin and muscle regeneration technology was something he already possessed; I only provided the bone regeneration and shaping technology."
Vaca nodded. Muscle and skin regeneration technology had existed for a long time, but there had never been a solution for bones. Since McLaren had overcome this challenge, he had been thriving recently, earning a fortune that everyone envied.
He thought for a moment, then said with a serious expression, "Would you be willing to transfer that technology? We in the Power of Nature would also like to obtain it."
Dore shrugged and said, "I'm afraid that's not possible. We had an independent transaction, and all the authorization was given to Wizard McLaren. Unless I obtain his consent, I can't possibly teach you the technology."
The Southwest Battlefield was about to open, and war was cruel, inevitably leading to many cases of severed limbs. It seemed the Power of Nature wanted to gain a share of that market.
McLaren had been sending him money every month recently, making him overjoyed. He knew exactly how much money McLaren was making.
From a biotechnology standpoint, these things weren't difficult; the challenge was the occasional burst of inspiration and ideas. Dore had also drawn on some of Wushu's experiments to perfect the process.
Vaca looked at Dore intently and said, "We can give you 20% of the profits. You only need to teach the technology; you don't need to manage anything else."
A 20% split was actually quite low in the alchemist industry, considering Dore possessed the crucial technology. Without it, they were nothing.
Dore shrugged, thinking to himself, "Petty." But he said calmly, "We have a contract, and I can't violate the spirit of the contract. Lord Vaca, please don't make things difficult for me."
Vaca looked at Dore, then at his clear and determined eyes, realizing he probably couldn't obtain the method. He sighed and turned to leave.
This action left Dore feeling rather puzzled.
At that moment, Robin, the Level 4 wizard beside Vaca, looked at Dore, gave him a warning glance, and hurriedly followed Vaca away.
Watching the backs of the two as they departed, Dore's gaze became somewhat playful.
The main reason he had always stayed away from the Alchemist Guild was that it was a mixed bag of people, and he didn't want to spend his limited time scheming and plotting with them. He just wanted to be a quiet alchemist, selling some medicine. If there was business, he'd do it; if not, he'd cultivate, living a simple life.
And that's what he had always done.
If others provoked him, he endured it; if others slandered him, he pretended not to hear it.
But now, he needed to change that state. After all, his strength and status no longer allowed him to do so. If, after advancing to Level 5, any Tom, Dick, or Harry could bully him, what would become of the wizard's reputation?
The situation on the square was chaotic, and their exchange had attracted the attention of a small number of people, but it didn't affect the overall situation.
As the major families entered, the square became even more lively. For a time, the crowd was bustling, the noise was loud, and the atmosphere was boisterous.
Before long, a voice came from a distance. Dore looked and saw that Eugene had also arrived.
The most ⊥ new ⊥ small ⊥ say ⊥ in ⊥ six ⊥ 9 ⊥ ⊥ book ⊥ ⊥ bar ⊥ ⊥ first ⊥ hair!
Eugene weaved through the crowd, ignoring everyone who greeted him with an arrogant expression, heading straight towards them.
As soon as he arrived, he immediately complained loudly, "If I had known, I wouldn't have come. There are too damn many people."
Glatte asked somewhat strangely, "Does the Glory Wizard Alliance also have bidding projects?"
Dore was also a little surprised.
Eugene sighed and said, "Yes, the Imperial Mage Corps sent invitations to all forces. Why shouldn't we, the Glory Wizard Alliance, participate? But I have another matter." At this point, he acted like a thief, suddenly bringing his head close to the two and whispering, "I came for Leona."
Glatte winked at him. "She's here too? And you've hooked up with her?"
Eugene snorted and resumed his original arrogant posture, saying proudly, "What do you mean 'hooked up'? We call it a powerful alliance. No, it's a powerful alliance of the five of us."
Dore was a little confused. Who was this Leona?
Seeing the two acting strangely, he didn't expose their arrogant nature and slowly said, "Introducing someone new? Where is she? Who is it?"
Anyone acknowledged by the two must also be a genius, but who was it? Dore became curious.
Wassonburg actually had many geniuses. After selecting the top ten geniuses, there were still many individuals whose talent and effort were no less than theirs, in great numbers. Therefore, Dore didn't dare to underestimate anyone and asked curiously.
Glatte smiled and said, "The Youth Program has a total of six boys and four girls. Leona is from the Lei family. She has a natural Violet Lightning Body, and her talent is extremely powerful. Unfortunately, she is not well-regarded in the family. If it weren't for the three of us, that little girl would probably be crying somewhere."
