The Witcher: Elemental Lords
#201 - Silver Guard
A small team of guards walked over from the street corner. Dole stopped and leaned against the nearby wall, hiding in the darkness.
The guards quickly passed by and disappeared into another street.
The security in Waltz City at night is very good, but it is not foolproof. At least, Dole had discovered several instances of burglars along the way.
Just then, he felt a faint murderous aura coming from behind.
He turned around abruptly and saw a man in scaled armor standing not far behind him. The man's face was exposed, and he wore an official hat on his head, looking at Dole's position with a puzzled expression.
Dole's heart skipped a beat. Had he been discovered? Looking at the man's clothes, he seemed to be from a special department in Waltz City. He remembered them being called Silver Guards.
The Waltz City Security Department has two teams. One is the patrol personnel on the surface, responsible for ordinary incidents. General matters, big and small, are handled by them. The other team handles matters that ordinary Security Department officials cannot handle, such as notorious bandits and various experts. These people are the so-called Silver Guards, some are warrior-level experts, some are wizards, and their composition is very complex.
The lowest level of Silver Guards also has Level 3 strength, and the highest has Level 5, which is very powerful.
This person had discovered him.
Dole thought for a moment, discarded all his tricks, and walked out of the shadows.
When the Silver Guard saw Dole, a look of understanding appeared in his eyes. He pondered for a moment and said, "You must be Wizard Dole. You were attacked in the Peony Flower House. I didn't expect you to be here."
Dole was slightly startled. The Silver Guards' information was really well-informed. He smiled nonchalantly, "I didn't expect the Silver Guard to recognize me."
The Silver Guard immediately laughed, "Recognizing people is our Silver Guard's specialty. Everyone who is anyone in Waltz City must be known. What are you doing here? Are you going to leave the city?" He glanced at the direction Dole was walking.
Dole nodded, "I am being targeted in the city and want to leave. I wonder what advice this Silver Guard has for me?"
The Silver Guard did not move, standing opposite Dole with a slight apprehension in his heart.
He had received information that two Level 3 assassins couldn't do anything to him at close range, so his strength was very powerful.
"We haven't found out who offended you yet. We didn't find anything of value in your room. Are you not going to pursue the matter and just leave?"
Dole sneered, "What if you find out who it is? What can you do?"
The Silver Guard's expression turned cold. He was looking down on the Silver Guards! "In Waltz City, there is nothing we Silver Guards can't do, and no one we can't kill."
Dole's mouth revealed a look of mockery. He directly waved his hand and threw out a corpse, saying, "If that's the case, can you handle a Cinder Finch?"
The corpse fell to the ground with a thud.
Seeing this, the Silver Guard's face changed.
The other party had space equipment, and they had captured this person and even interrogated them? Was this a member of the Cinder Finches?
In an instant, he thought of many things, and his heart sank slightly. During the day, they received news that Wizard Dole was buying various poisons in large quantities, possibly preparing to refine a batch of poisons. In the evening, he was attacked. These people were clearly preparing to capture this person from the Northern Kingdom who had no background, but they didn't expect him to be so difficult to deal with.
"Cinder Finch." The Silver Guard was slightly embarrassed. They really didn't have much evidence about this organization, and they didn't even know where they were.
Seeing the Silver Guard's appearance, Dole knew what was going on. He was bragging just now, and now he was directly slapped in the face. This guy was probably very embarrassed.
He waved his hand and put the corpse into his storage bracelet, saying indifferently, "I want to leave now. What advice does the Silver Guard have!"
The Silver Guard sighed and said, "Ah, I'll take you out, but on the condition that you don't cause trouble."
Dole shrugged and said, "I am a good citizen. How could I possibly deal with others if they don't deal with me."
The Silver Guard nodded. Dole had been in Waltz City for so long, and his reputation was still good. At least in the eyes of the big shots, this wizard from the Northern Kingdom was very law-abiding and rarely came out, almost never causing trouble.
He nodded and said, "Then please follow me. Do you need me to send you back?"
Dole revealed great confidence, "It's fine as long as I get out of the city. Actually, I don't mind having a few people following me. That way, there will be a few more experimental subjects."
The Silver Guard's heart skipped a beat. Experimental subjects? Human experiments?
This Level 2 wizard seemed a bit crazy.
However, ordinary pharmacists, especially those who are good at various poisons, are indeed not afraid of ordinary warriors. They have too many ways to kill a person.
Pharmacists are known as the most terrifying type among wizards.
"Please follow me." The Silver Guard nodded, turned around, and ran back along the alley.
Dole followed closely behind.
"Lord Dole, do pharmacists need talent?" The Silver Guard said as he walked.
Dole nodded, "Talent and hard work are indispensable. Many people have talent, but unfortunately, they don't work hard themselves."
The Silver Guard nodded and said, "I have a relative's child who has good talent, a real plant talent. Unfortunately, after being sent to the Dark Gate, they didn't achieve much. After so many years, they are only a Level 2 pharmacist. If you hadn't come late, I would have sent her to your academy."
The Silver Guard had great authority, even comparable to ordinary senior officials. Under special circumstances, he had the power to act first and report later. When he said this, Dole sensed the great confidence in his words.
He thought for a moment and said, "The academy opens the door of convenience. It's not too late to send her now."
The Silver Guard shook his head, "I've spent all my money. Although the fees at Ellengard Academy are low, they still cost a lot." He closed his mouth, unwilling to say more about this matter.
Dole nodded.
The two followed the alley, weaving through several turns, and arrived at the bottom of the city wall.
At this time, the Silver Guard revealed himself and secretly made several gestures.
Dole's heart skipped a beat, and he secretly prepared himself.
At this time, a whistle sounded from the city wall above.
Hearing the whistle, the Silver Guard led Dole towards the passage by the city wall.
The two walked one after the other and arrived on the city wall. At this time, there was no one on it.
Seeing this, Dole understood somewhat.
The Silver Guard didn't want people to see him.
Standing by the city wall, he said to the Silver Guard, "Thank you."
The Silver Guard nodded and smiled, "Actually, we are not at ease with people like you staying in the city. We are relieved when you leave."
Dole was a little helpless and said, "Okay, if you need anything, you can come and find me." He glanced at the bottom of the city wall.
In the dark night, you couldn't see the bottom with ordinary vision, making the city wall seem very tall. If ordinary people jumped down from here, they would definitely be smashed into a pile of rotten mud.
Having said that, he jumped onto the city wall, then leaped down and disappeared into the darkness.
…
The Silver Guard breathed a sigh of relief, clapped his hands, and the guards hidden around came from all directions.
"Sir?"
The Silver Guard looked at them and said indifferently, "You can truthfully report what happened tonight. The reason I didn't want you to see it was because that person was too dangerous."
The leader of the guards stepped forward and said indifferently, "Yes, sir. Who was that person?"
"Dole."
The guards nodded and didn't ask any more questions.
The Silver Guard quickly disappeared from the city wall. He needed to go back and report.
After Level 2, the ability to manipulate magic elements is greatly enhanced. Even if he jumps down from a height of dozens of meters, manipulating the airflow and wind elements, his descent speed is not slow, and he can even glide forward.
