The Witcher: Elemental Lords
#142 - Lamb Wizard
Multiple spells, multiple castings—Dore already brought out his signature skills.
Boom, boom.
Two more spells exploded, scattering gravel and flames. The group began to flee in all directions, not daring to stay close together.
Two magic missiles shot out with extreme speed, directly hitting the backs of two individuals, creating fist-sized holes. It was clear they wouldn't survive.
In just three or four seconds, Dore had already caused four or five casualties.
...
In the front of the caravan, an elderly man in a robe stood on the roof of a carriage, looking over with some surprise.
"Multiple spellcasting, multiple spells—this young man is quite formidable. Listening to their shouts about a pharmacist, could this person be from that faction? Such powerful mental control?"
Next to him, another young man with a complex expression muttered, "They're just Level 1 spells, nothing special. I can do that too."
The old man turned his head, glanced at the young man, sighed, and said, "I know you can, but what does it matter? Look at him, effortlessly dodging arrows and countering with ease. This level of skill is almost at a genius level. What do you have to compare?"
The young man's face flushed red. "Teacher, I can do it too, okay? They're just ordinary mercenaries; I can beat them all."
The old man snorted. "More like getting beaten by them."
As they watched, the battle ended. Out of seven people, four were killed by fireballs, two were pierced by magic missiles, and one was seriously injured and lying on the ground.
At this moment, Dore wasn't relaxed; there was a hint of sweat on his face. Resolving the battle so quickly was largely due to recent combat experiences. Each time, he walked on the edge of life and death, greatly testing his combat skills.
One against seven, a complete victory.
The surrounding people fell silent, like cicadas in winter.
Dore walked over, looted the seven bodies, and then expressionlessly rejoined the caravan.
However, this time, as he approached the caravan, two guards, looking embarrassed, stopped him at a distance.
He shrugged, indicating he wouldn't get close, only following from afar.
After these events, no one dared to look down on Dore. The few who had provoked him at the beginning had disappeared; they were nowhere to be seen.
The area between the two empires was vast, and the canyon was wide. One could see warhorses frequently galloping across the ground.
Dore walked, pondering the earlier events.
That group was just a band of ordinary Level 1 professionals, even including advanced warrior apprentices who hadn't reached Level 1. They dared to attack him, truly showing the fearlessness of the ignorant.
But if there had been a Level 2 professional, he wouldn't have had it so easy today. If someone had rushed him, he could only use continuous spells to keep them at bay, but he couldn't kill them. A Level 2 professional's Dou Qi could protect the body, making them very formidable, resistant to Level 1 magic.
As he walked, he pondered how to deal with a Level 2 professional if he encountered one.
Just then, he sensed a powerful mental force approaching. He looked up and saw a young mage walking out of the caravan. He wore an ornate mage robe, and even under the scorching sun, there wasn't a single bead of sweat on his forehead. Clearly, the robe had cooling magic runes on it.
His face was delicate, and his gaze towards Dore was filled with complex emotions.
He went to the back and spoke a few words to the guards who were wary of Dore, and they left. Then, he walked over.
"I am Gudos, my teacher wishes to see you." Gudos gave a slight mage's bow. He looked at Dore's attire, his lips twitching slightly, but he didn't underestimate him. It was truly the first time he had seen such a poor pharmacist.
However, thinking that this guy might be from the Northern Kingdom, it was understandable.
Dore looked at him, blinked, and his straight posture showed no intention of moving.
"I am Dore." He used his real name. "Are you a wizard from the Glory Empire?"
Gudos watched Dore not move at all and thought, 'As expected, a wild wizard doesn't even know wizard etiquette.' So, he said, "Yes, my teacher and I are escorting a friend's caravan for a trade, and now we are preparing to return to the Glory Empire. By the way, are you really a wild wizard from the Northern Kingdom? You're really poor."
This time, it was Dore's turn to twitch his lips. His face flushed red, and he said, "It's good enough to survive. What else can I hope for?" He said playfully, "Please lead the way."
Gudos nodded and said, "Follow me."
Thus, the two walked towards the caravan.
After Dore entered the caravan, the others behind relaxed a lot and gathered in the middle again.
In the caravan, a carriage detached itself and moved alongside the caravan, about a hundred meters away.
This was a very luxurious carriage, pulled by four strong horses. The carriage was very large, and there were even shock-absorbing devices underneath, making it very high-end. At this moment, the side door was opened, revealing the figure of a fifty- or sixty-year-old mage.
His clothes were even more gorgeous, dignified, and solemn. He held a staff as tall as a person in his hand, and his expression was gentle as he looked at Dore.
"Greetings, Wizard Lamb." Dore took the initiative to greet him. He had just asked Gudos for the mage's name.
The old man smiled and said, "You two come up. You're both going to the Glory Empire; let's go together."
Dore smiled and said, "I am grateful beyond words."
The interior of the carriage was very luxurious. Half of the ceiling was a glass skylight, making it very bright. The windows on both sides were also adorned with valuable decorations, and the glass was very transparent.
Gudos and the old man sat together, and Dore sat opposite them.
"Are you a wild wizard from the Northern Kingdom?" Wizard Lamb asked.
Dore nodded and said, "Yes, I was just about to ask you, sir, what procedures are required to go to the Glory Empire?"
In fact, he had asked Karl, and he knew the process. He said so much just to say a few more words and build rapport.
Lamb smiled kindly and said, "Every year, there are no fewer than fifty wild wizards from the Northern Kingdom coming to our Glory Empire. It's very simple; just register at the Campbell Fortress. Then you will have two choices: first, you can enter various academies to study at your own expense; second, you can serve in the Campbell Fortress for half a year. These are the processes that must be experienced to enter the Glory Empire."
Dore lowered his head, pretending to consider.
Gudos snorted at this time and said, "You are a wild wizard; no one knows your character. Therefore, whether you enter any academy or join the army, it is a process of surveillance and testing. When they think you are qualified, they will let you move around outside. With your methods just now, killing people at every turn, ruthless, tsk tsk."
Dore raised his head and looked at Gudos. "I was just defending myself. If I didn't kill them, would I wait for them to kill me?" Dore involuntarily revealed a trace of killing intent.
Although Gudos had entered transcendence, was strong, and had killed people, he felt a chill enter his body when he saw Dore's gaze, and he didn't dare to be presumptuous.
The old man glanced at Dore at this time, and Dore quickly retracted his killing intent and became honest.
"What will you choose?" Lamb asked knowingly.
Dore took a light breath, closed his eyes, and pondered gently.
