The Urban Dao Child

Dao Jeiwei was a little scared by the enthusiasm of the older men, she did not know how to react. Yang Dao's grandpa snorted and said, "Shut up all of you, don't you see the child is scared by your antics. Yin, child you go inside and help the ladies. You can take the girl inside too, it is rare to see a new life coming into the world."

Dao Yin nodded and holding the small hand of Dao Jiewei, she entered the room. Yang Dao stood outside the room pinching his fingers. Yang Shan asked, "What are you doing?"

The boy replied, "What else can I do? Counting the future of my sister."

Yang Shan said, "You wastrel, why did you tell us that the child is a girl, ugh we were all keeping it a surprise."

Yang Dao scratched the back of his head and said, "What are you scolding me for, knowing now, I will give you all the last few minutes to choose appropriate gifts for your niece. Let me see if you dared to give her swords and axes, you battle-hungry people. I will tell grandma that you plan to raise my treasure into a riot."

The baby looked as if made of jade, Mulan had a big smile on her face, and she was followed by Jeiwei who was clearly in shock from whatever she saw inside the room. Mulan looked at Yang Dao, who stood in front of the old people, and with a petting smile she said, "Rabbit, you child made grandma proud."

They were all aware that Dao Jeiwei was not his real daughter, but the Yang family was not so constricted in mind to not understand that sometimes it is the hearts and emotions that prevail over blood ties. Yang Dao smiled and asked, "Mum?"

Mulan replied, "She is fine, come here, hold her."

Yang Dao shook his head and said, "You let her meet these old boys first because if I took her, I am not letting her go for a whole day."

Mulan chuckled, "Alright, go in, Ling is awake."

Yang Dao gently caressed the child's head and said, "Wei, come baba takes you to meet grandma."

Jeiwei woke up and went inside the room with Yang Dao. Inside the room, Yin was holding Yue Ling's hand channeling her spirit essence through her body, giving it nourishment, and Yang Dao came to sit on the other side of the bed after greeting his aunts. He held the other hand of his mother and began to channel the spirit essence similarly.

He said, "Mum, congratulations."

Yue Ling smiled and said, "Good boy, teasing mum now? Let me stand up, and see if I scold you."

Yang Dao smiled and said, "No, you love me too much."

Yue Ling raised her hand and caressed his handsome face, she said, "How are you, my love?"

Yang Dao said, "I am fine, I have someone to introduce to you."

Yue Ling did not know about Jeiwei. Yang Dao picked up the little girl and had her sit on his lap he said, "Wie, this is your grandma. Mum, this is Wei, her full name is Dao Jeiwei. She is my daughter."

Yin pouted and said, "Our daughter. Mum, you see, he still does not counts me as his person."

Yue Ling was too much in a shock to register the complaint, she gazed at the little doll sitting in the lap of her son, and said, "Come closer, my dear."

Jeiwei turned her head to look at Yang Dao, and the young man nodded with a smile. Jeiwei crawled closer to Yue Ling, who caressed her face gently. The child could tell that Yue Ling was very affectionate to her.

Yue Ling looked around and then she glanced at the ring in her hand, she took her hand from Dao Yin's hand and took off the ring. She said, "This ring is an artifact that makes the spirit energy flow smoother around you. This was given to me by my great-grandma, here, it is now yours."

She held Jeiwei's palm and placed the ring on it. The girl said, "Grandma, I cannot take it. Baba told me that we should seek affection and not gifts. if you receive a gift you need to return it or you are not a virtuous person."

Yue Ling caressed her hair gently and said, "My dear, you do not have to worry, grandma gave you a symbol of her love for you."

Jeiwei cast a gaze at her parents who nodded with a smile and Yang Dao said, "Okay, mum, you might need to feed my sister, after that, it is my turn to be with her. We have to go to the inner immortal plane tomorrow. Wei will stay here with you all till we come back."

Yue Ling nodded and said, "It just so happens that Yue Jing will be coming tomorrow, she will love Weiwei."

Yang Dao nodded and then talked a few minutes to her before Mulan came back with a bundle of joy in her arms. She said, "Now, Dao, out."

"Yes, grandma.", said Yang Dao, and leaving the room he closed the door behind him.

The old men were nowhere to be seen, they seemed to have left after handing over the gifts. Yang Dao could even guess that Yang Shan must have been drinking gallons of beer with his cousins. The young man decided to stroll around the house for a bit. He met his relatives and some younger of his cousins.

They exchanged views on martial arts and cultivation and Yang Dao even taught them a few things. He guided the younger ones and told them what pills would be good for them to unlock their potential without harming the foundation.

After an hour, he came back to the room where his mother was and heard faint cries from inside. He knocked on the door and said, "Mum, it is me."

A few seconds later, Yin opened the door and said, "The little one is crying, I cannot understand why."

Dao Yin gently took the baby from Yue Ling and began to slowly sway the girl. Yang Dao on the other side began to explain the condition of his sister. Yue Ling was surprised and then she was relieved. She caressed his face and said, "Thank heavens you came today."

Yang Dao smiled and after a few minutes, Dao Yin said, "Yang, done."

Yang Dao came to her side and saw the little one smiling and asked, "Mum, what do you want to name her?"

Yue Ling smiled and said, "We all decided that you will name her. So, you can do it now."

Yang Dao smiled and looking at the little one he said, "Yang Dao Shi. The poem of dao."

The child heard the name and let out a cooing sound. Yang Dao swayed the little one in his arms while gently arranging the seals in her body and regulating the flow of Yin and Yang. Yue Ling fell asleep with Dao Jeiwei beside her, while Yang Dao and Dao Yin took turns watching the little one over the night. They also imparted a cultivation sutra in her mind for the future.
