During the Eighth Five-Year Plan period, in order to develop the shipbuilding industry, the Modu Shipyard has reached 265 million.

After this transformation, the Modu Shipyard has the ability to build 35,000-ton ships and 60,000-ton ships. The entire Modu Shipyard has the ability to build 165,000-ton ships and 110,000-kilowatt diesel engines annually.

By the end of the 'Eighth Five-Year Plan', the Modu Shipyard will have more than 8,500 employees, including 1,700 professional and technical personnel of various types. It will have one 3.5-ton class shipyard (with a 60,000-ton class capacity) and one 25,000-ton class slipway. One 10,000-ton floating dock (lifting capacity: 11,500 tons). There are one 10,000-ton dry dock and one 5,000-ton dry dock, with a dock shoreline of more than 1,500 meters and 1,712 pieces of various types of machinery and equipment.

The scale of Modu Shipyard is not comparable to that of Yangcheng Shipyard and Mawei Shipyard, but it is already a large shipyard in China.

Hudong Shipyard, formerly known as the "Laici Foreign Company" founded by British merchants, opened the Mahler Machine Shipyard in 1928 to expand its business scope. At present, the annual shipbuilding output of Hudong Shipyard has reached 400,000 tons. It also has the ability to build Type 054 frigates and Type 052 destroyers. The missile boats, torpedo boats, frigates and destroyers built here are all supplied to the East China Sea Fleet.

Jiangnan Shipyard has a long history. It is the oldest military shipbuilding enterprise in my country. As the "No. 1 Factory in China", Jiangnan Shipyard has witnessed the vicissitudes of a century and a half. Its history is strong and prosperous. It has created dozens of China's firsts and is known as the place of issuance of national industry and military industry and the cradle of industrial workers.

The business scope of Jiangnan Shipyard includes military products, ship repair and construction, ship dismantling, various electromechanical equipment, non-standard equipment, related technology and labor, pressure vessels, lifting machinery, steel structure manufacturing, metal materials, ship design, etc.

According to the plan, the three major shipyards will be moved to Chongming Island, after all, Chongming Island is more conducive to shipbuilding.
