The Master Behind the Scenes Starting from the Twin Cities
Chapter 5 Why do you think you are not good enough?
After Katarina left, Ryan was completely focused on the glimmer.
The full name of the continent they were in was Valoran, and the planet that included all the continents and oceans was called the Land of Runes.
A wizard who had been wandering for countless years once said that mastering runes was equivalent to understanding the secrets of magic.
Except for very few cases, the birth of every wizard was destined by nature, and the strength at the moment of awakening determined the height that could be reached in the future.
Unless more rune secrets could be understood.
When Ryan first arrived in the Land of Runes, he awakened water magic, and his magic power was extremely powerful.
After joining Noxus, he continued to make military achievements, and all the wizard books in the Noxus Empire were opened to him.
This was also the point he liked most about Noxus. As long as there was strength and merit, the empire would not be stingy with any rewards.
A rune like the word "water" rose again in Ryan's palm, and his eyes rarely revealed a trace of reminiscence.
This was the first rune he mastered, and it was the ‘water’ rune that best matched him.
He still remembered that time in the desert of Shurima, when he and his superiors encountered the Quicksand Legion of Shurima. He used the magic power in his body to outline the rune for the first time, and the huge rune array appeared, and a large area of yellow sand was wetted by rain and turned into soil.
After a whole day of fierce fighting, the Quicksand Legion of Shurima was buried in the soil by him and his comrades, and they built a new Noxtora, which was a symbol of the Shurima city's submission to Noxus.
As his thoughts turned back, more runes emerged from his palms, and the runes emitted a deep blue light, surrounding the purple glimmer, and from time to time there were blue threads passing through the glimmer potion.
Soon, the rune gave Ryan the answer.
Through the analysis of multiple runes, although he could not produce glimmer, he almost understood its secret.
He had never thought that in addition to the Hextech created by Piltover, there was another way to steal the power of magic.
In the flickering purple light of the glimmer, he seemed to see a kind of magic that could be named "variable".
This kind of magic can roughly open the door to the potential of the human body, but unfortunately, it is not known whether it is limited by the creator's psychology or ability. The glimmer did not control the violent power of magic, but just roughly made it able to merge with the human body, which made the uncontrollable magic even more violent.
"Wonderful design, crazy ideas. Such a person should come to Noxus, only there can he show his talent." Ryan was a little regretful.
The creator of the glimmer was obviously born in the wrong place. Such a person has no future in Piltover. In the end, he was either driven crazy by the lower city of Zaun or judged by the law enforcement officer of the upper city of Piltover.
Thinking of Piltover's progressive code based on the code of humanity, Ryan's face was filled with sarcasm:
"It's absurd to talk about humanity in a world where one's future is in danger. Ionia has its own outstanding strength, but what does Piltover have? Heimerdinger, who has lived for 300 years? Or the rookie Jace Tallis?"
Dong! Dong! Dong!
Hearing the knock on the door, Ryan threw the glimmer into the bucket and took back the runes that spread out from his palm.
"Sir, the time has come."
"Then let's go, Miss Katarina."
As the door opened, Ryan saw a well-dressed noble lady.
The black close-fitting dress perfectly showed Katarina's figure, and her burgundy long hair hung behind her, messy but graceful.
Facing the carefully dressed Catalina, Ryan felt a little awkward. After looking around with admiration, he sighed and shook his head:
"The makeup is in place, but your expression is too stiff. A qualified assassin must learn to adapt to various identities, at least learn how to play various roles."
"He doesn't know these either." Catalina was a little dissatisfied.
"You don't have to compare with him, you will definitely be better than him in the future." Ryan's eyes were encouraging, "I am more optimistic about you, you can become the most outstanding assassin."
Then, regardless of Catalina's strange expression, he naturally took her arm and walked out.
"I will only cooperate with you once, try to be a noble lady of the Kekao family, understand but don't indulge."
"I'll try my best."
Catalina tried to restrain herself, maintain an awkward smile, and constantly tried to relax her body to adapt to her current state.
Sitting on the mechanical car heading to the banquet hall, Catalina was relieved when Ryan let her go.
As if to ease the previous embarrassment, she pointed to the cushion under her body and asked curiously:
"Is it a technological product unique to Piltover that is driven by pure machinery?"
Ryan lifted a corner of the car curtain and admired the downtown street scene of Piltover outside the window:
"The mechanical car originated from Viktor, a student of Heimerdinger. He was determined to change the lower city with technology and invented various machines to improve people's livelihood. His ideal is beautiful, but the reality is extremely ironic."
Ryan's face was full of mockery of the city, and he said in a strange tone:
"All the machines are only used in the upper city of Piltover, and the people of Zaun in the lower city still live a life worse than dogs. A bridge separates them, and the difference is in abundance."
"You seem to admire this person?"
After Katarina finished speaking, she added as if to defend herself:
"I'm trying to adapt to my current role."
"I do admire this man." After saying that, Ryan smiled and encouraged: "Say whatever you think. I don't agree with the ruthless way your father upholds. Sometimes being more curious about the world will make you grow faster."
"But that is the way of mages." Katarina felt that this sentence went against her education.
No mistake, one post, one content, one 6, one 9, one book, one bar!
"Using wisdom and Hex crystals, Jestaris pried open the door to magic. Why do you think you can't do it?" Ryan asked.
"I don't have such a smart brain." Katarina shook her head.
"Victor is Jayce's helper. I think he played a more important role in Hex research, so I admire him very much." Ryan said.
"What does this have to do with me?" Katarina didn't understand why she had to turn back to the previous topic.
"Do you think I'm worse than the two of them?" Ryan asked back.
"Your Excellency is far better than the two of them combined."
This is by no means Katarina's flattery. The heroic stories of Noxus will be circulated in the empire. Among those heroes, Ryan in front of him is definitely one of the most outstanding ones.
Not only does he have powerful magic, but he also has corresponding brilliant deeds in alchemy, war command, assassination, medical treatment, and magic research.
In the eyes of Noxians, the name of Ryan Meredith symbolizes excellence.
Such a person is not comparable to the two ordinary scientists in Piltover.
"Then why do you think you can't master magic." Ryan's words are meaningful.
Hearing this, Katarina's expression froze, and then she felt a little absurd.
If Ryan was just Victor, she didn't doubt that she could become Jayce. But Ryan is Ryan, is she really qualified to carry this excellence?
"Don't think too much, it's because I'm optimistic about your potential that I brought you with me. I believe you will not disappoint my expectations, Miss Katarina."
"If I have potential, I won't be here. I should participate in more killings with the army." Katarina expressed her dissatisfaction with herself.
"It takes time to realize potential. Even if you want to live up to others' trust, you should do better. Okay, it's time for us to get off the car."
When the mechanical car arrived at the location, Ryan got off the car first and extended his hand to Catalina in the car, behaving as elegantly as a nobleman.
"Sir, I will try my best."
Catalina had an awkward smile on her face, which was much better than the stiff smile before. It can be seen that she tried to adapt herself to her current identity.
Ryan smiled and pulled Catalina's white hand, letting her stand up and get off the car.
He was looking forward to the banquet later, not only to seeing the new performance of his new subordinates, but also to meeting some interesting people.
Ryan helped himself and Catalina to tidy up their clothes, and then followed the waiter's instructions and took Catalina into the banquet hall of the Midalda family.
