The First King of Beasts

72 Within The Dark

For something like some weighted door to exist in such a place was really not an ordinary thing, as this was mostly the plot for when important things were found, so Dustin didn't give up.

Using every ounce of strength he had left, Dustin applied the maximum amount of pressure he could on the door and pushed with everything he had, but in the end he had only managed to push it to open just the slightest bit more.

"The fuck? If it won't budge, then there's only one option." Victor said, as the only logical way he could get across came to him.

Starting with the bag around his waist, Dustin took it off and then his shoe, followed by another thing that was not part of his shirt or trouser, then he was ready. He stood before the door and after inhaling and exhaling couple times, he rubbed his hands together a bit, then approached the door. Taking in another small breath, Dustin sunk in his stomach and arched his shoulders before attempting to put his leg through the narrow opening.

To say the least, the entire process took time and energy, and was incredibly tedious, taking every bit of energy Dustin had in him just to get through, and even then he still had one leg outside. The knee part of his second leg seemed to be stuck, and Dustin was trying everything he could to slip it through. He only wished he had some type of lubricant at this moment, but of course he had none.

As if the situation he was in wasn't bad enough, Dustin just had to see something else within the room that alerted him. Similar to the night crawlers he fought in the night he was in prior, whatever was inside this room also had faint red glowing eyes, and the eyes looking in his direction. He was probably like some animal caught in a trap at this point, and was most vulnerable.

'Of all fuckin time. Damn it.' Dustin cursed in his mind.

The moment he noticed the pair of eyes, he had stopped struggling with the door to get his leg through and just observed the eyes as they stared at him. He was almost sure whatever creature it was would attack at any moment, but the problem was he had no idea what kind of creature it was. He could only desperately hope for it to be a night crawler, or at least something he was familiar with, though that was likely to not be the case.

Not long after, scarcely 20 seconds later, the beast possessing the set of eyes walked towards Dustin, slowly. Dustin remained still and unmoving as the creature approached him. The eyes got closer and closer to Dustin, until they were just inches away from his face. The distance was not much, but talking about inches, it was something he was familiar with.

Dustin felt warm breathe against his face, and that was when he realised what it was he was dealing with, albeit an idea. For something that could produce that amount of breathe with their nostrils without even trying to breathe out with any pressure, it was clear that whatever the monster was, it was a big one, maybe as big the sea serpent he had as one of his tamed beasts, if not bigger. Of course, he could always take out his own tamed beasts to fight against whatever was within the room, but that was plan B. For now, he could sense that the creature was not hostile from its behaviour, so he remained passive for the time being not wanting to instigate something he wouldn't be able to face in the end.

A few seconds pass, as Dustin get continues warm breathes poured on his face, and it would be an exaggeration to say it was utterly discomforting. He couldn't even move to touch his face as he didn't want to make even the slightest movement.

Because of the way the door was positioned and designed, it didn't let much of the light from outside in, not to mention that this part of the building was in the part with the most covering. The door only allowed so much light into the room, and only went up to a few metres in.

Something close to a minute had passed since the breathes were blow to his face, and then he could feel the figure getting closer and closer to his face, which made Dustin unconsciously back up and raise his body up and back it against the door. Only when his back was against the heavy doors behind him did he finally get a glimpse of what was before him.

As he moved backwards slowly and felt the breathes follow, the faintly glowing eyes he had been staring at the whole time began to fade and turn normal as it met with the light that came from the door and into it.

'OH SHIT.' Dustin couldn't believe his eyes, not one bit.

He was thinking of using his tamed beasts to fight for him, but now he was sure that they would all be torn to pieces before they had the opportunity to do much. Though he wasn't exactly sure, what he saw before him resembled the head of a Dragon, just like he always thought a dragon would look. It was just like the representation of dragons he had seen countless times in different places, pictures and shows.

A tense moment passed as both stared at each other, though the monsters eyes were positioned at a wider angle than Dustin's, so he had to move his eyes from side to side just to look at its eyes.

For some reason Dustin was not aware of, the creature before him didn't look threatening at all, rather it was a little normal, like he was before any other creature or human. He wasn't sure himself, but something seemed to have changed in him suddenly.

"That's enough, he's good." A voice said from within, shocking Dustin a bit as he never expected for someone to be here in such a place, and in such a dark room nevertheless.

Dustin hearing the voice talk, albeit a little bit shocked, didn't do anything in response and just remained calm and quiet. Though, this didn't mean a thousand questions didn't course through his mind.

Slowly and with much rust in the movements, the doors which Dustin was trying to go though slid inward, just enough to allow for him to pull out his leg, and then they began to close again. Of course, Dustin remained still yet and didn't try to even attempt escaping or moving too much and unnecessarily. He was all too familiar with the feeling of being in another man's turf, and unless one possessed the power to topple the other, they coordinated themselves. Needless to say, the ones who show authority in another's turf were still the arrogant ones, as even other powerful people till acted accordingly.

"You must-" Dustin heard the first words set of words the voice spoke, and immediately his body tensed up a bit as he imagined just what the voice was about to say. Probably something bad.

"-have to forgive me for still keeping you within this darkness without any illumination, but look on the brighter side! You can use this as a means to train yourself!."

'On the brighter side huh?' Dustin thought.

"Of course, you must wonder why you feel so, calm and relieved, unlike a moment ago." The voice said.

Dustin had been wondering why himself, as normally even with the cold blooded nature, he still would be alarmed to some degree and vigilant, instead it was very different. He felt much more normal, not at home, but not in any way threatened in the least. Despite all this, he still remained silent as the voice paused in its speech, possibly waiting for a response of some sort.

"Ok, not the most talkative one are you?... You must be hungry after all the travel, why don't you come here and have something to eat? Though, it might not be to your taste."

Coupled with the fact that Dustin himself didn't want to make any unnecessary movement even though the voice seemed to be friendly, he also could not move, literally. The entire place was pitch black, and Dustin couldn't even tell which side was front and which was back. He had no idea of the constricts of the room, or whether it was even a room to begin with.

The thing was, Dustin could tell which direction the voice was coming from, but no sound seemed to bounce off any walls around, and the place didn't seem to be a very large hall as the atmosphere just didn't seem like one. The only other way for this to be possible was if the space around was filled with things that served to absorb and offset the sound waves travelling around, so Dustin wasn't exactly sure what he would bump into if he was to move even an inch.

"Ahh, my bad, you must not be able to move even a little bit as your vision is completely cut out, here, this will help."
