The decisive battle against the Third Reich
Chapter 9 Sniper Killing
Qin Chuan didn't know if it was luck... The situation was critical at the time, and he didn't have time to think too much.
Found that Trigger was holding the injured part of his right shoulder with a painful expression on his face, Qin Chuan wanted to go up to help him bandage, but was quickly stopped by Trigger.
"Don't worry about me!" Trigger said, and then raised his head to the rifle that originally belonged to him on the ground: "Try this!"
It must be said that German soldiers have different morale and spirit from other European and American countries. For example, now, Trigger thinks that continuing to fight is more important than his injury.
Qin Chuan understands this, because snipers often play a finishing touch on the battlefield, and the few minutes spent on bandaging may save more people.
So Qin Chuan didn't think much, and casually put his rifle aside and picked up Trigger's rifle... Although it was also a K98K, Trigger's rifle was obviously carefully selected, because it gave people a sense of relief as soon as it was held in his hand. More importantly, it came with a scope, a 2.5x scope.
Although the 2.5x scope can only slightly improve observation, it is very important for a sniper, because sometimes it is the difference between being able to see clearly and not being able to see clearly, or even the boundary between life and death.
Trigger did not rest. He crawled to Qin Chuan's side with difficulty, stuck his head out, and held the telescope in his left hand... They swapped roles, Trigger became an observer, and Qin Chuan became a sniper.
"10 o'clock!" Trigger said: "Two machine gunners!"
It was a heavy machine gun. Two British soldiers operated it and spit flames at the German army at a rate of 500 rounds per minute. They were obviously well-trained, because under their operation, dense bullets shot into the gap between the tanks at a tricky angle, knocking down the German soldiers behind the tanks one by one.
Qin Chuan aimed the scope at the shooter, then slowed down his breathing and pulled the trigger...
"Bang!", the heavy K98K fired a bullet.
About a second later, the bullet hit the target.
Unlike the last time, this time Qin Chuan clearly saw in the scope that the bullet shot through the machine gunner's helmet and a blood flower appeared... The machine gunner raised his head, and his whole body was dragged back slightly by the recoil of his head, just like a drunk person staggering, and then he collapsed to the ground with all his strength.
The British deputy gunner obviously did not realize that his comrade died under the sniper's gun, otherwise he should have chosen to hide instead of taking his comrade's position.
So Qin Chuan naturally pulled the bolt to load another bullet, and then there was another "bang", and the deputy gunner fell to the ground.
This shot did not hit the vital point, and the deputy gunner screamed in pain on the ground, covering the wound with his left hand, blood flowing out from his fingers, and his right hand was randomly grabbing something in the sand next to him.
"Good job!" Qin Chuan heard Trigger's cry: "You killed them!"
Then Trigger found that Qin Chuan had retracted his head and leaned against the sand, so he asked in confusion: "What's wrong? Frick!"
"I killed them!" Qin Chuan said.
"Yes!" Trigger replied coldly: "And you should continue to do so, because while you hesitated, several comrades died because of your leniency!"
As soon as Trigger finished speaking, a German tank exploded.
And this was not just an explosion, it was the ammunition in the tank that exploded. Flames burst out from the holes and cracks in the body like a fiery fountain. The tank crew inside was probably turned to ashes before they realized what was happening... Compared with being burned to death, this might be a good thing.
Qin Chuan knew that Trigger was right, because the battlefield was a place of "life and death", and kindness to the enemy was cruel to oneself... It can even be said that this is also related to one's own life and death, because only by winning can one be more likely to survive.
So Qin Chuan poked his head out again to find the next target and fired a bullet.
This time it was an anti-tank gunner, and the bullet hit his chest. Qin Chuan saw a blood arrow more than one meter high spurting out of the chest of this poor British soldier. Even though he had fallen to the ground and stopped moving, blood was still spurting out... This shot should have hit the heart.
The German tanks had rushed to the British defense line, and the British troops soon became chaotic. They were facing a difficult choice: continue to hold or retreat.
Qin Chuan thought that neither of these was a good choice.
If they held, they could not withstand the impact of the tanks.
If they retreated, their speed was not as fast as the tanks.
So unless the British army had reinforcements or the German army let them go, it would be difficult for these British soldiers to escape alive.
The British army chose the latter. They left behind a large number of wounded and dead, as well as a large number of weapons, such as heavy machine guns, anti-tank guns, mortars, etc. and fled in all directions... It was an irregular escape, and there was no mutual cover at all.
As a result, Qin Chuan did not expect that the German tanks would speed up and rush forward to chase the British army.
What Qin Chuan could not accept was that the tanks completely ignored the injured British soldiers and corpses on the ground. Some of the British soldiers were unable to move due to their injuries. They raised their hands and shouted loudly, hoping that the tanks would stop. Some of the British soldiers were even scared and cried, and frantically tried to crawl out of the path of the tanks...
But the German tanks didn't stop at all, as if they didn't exist. Then, the heavy tracks passed over the wounded soldiers and corpses without any accident. Blood and flesh flew everywhere in an instant, and pieces of broken meat were soon hung on the tanks. As well as rags, everywhere they passed were layers of fleshy paste with tracks' teeth printed on them.
What's even more horrifying is that some wounded soldiers were run over by tanks. Their lower bodies had disappeared but their upper bodies were intact. They were even still alive. They were shouting and struggling, watching themselves merge with the sand with disbelief. The whole lower body couldn't believe this fact. He stretched out his hands in pain and struggled desperately, but no matter what, he could not change the fact that he was about to die...
"Bang!" Qin Chuan pulled the trigger, and a bullet freed the British soldier from pain, but his pain remained in Qin Chuan's mind forever.
The German troops chased the escaping British troops everywhere. Gunshots and explosions occurred one after another. Rows of British troops fell to the ground, and subsequent German troops also moved forward to join the battle.
Qin Chuan did not follow. He withdrew his rifle and sat quietly on the sand dune, motionless. He no longer had the energy to take another look at the bloody battlefield.
Trigger didn't force Qin Chuan any more. He just showed his injured arm in front of Qin Chuan and said, "Now, you can help me bandage it!"
