The days of hanging out at Hogwarts

Chapter 76 Christmas Gift

Some time ago, Loren was worried about preparing gifts for a while. He wanted to prepare novel, unconventional and thoughtful gifts for everyone.

I have been thinking about the connotations and meanings of various gifts for a long time, but I am still not sure what to give. Ron was overheard saying that the Christmas gift he most wanted to receive was a Christmas gift box from Honeydukes Candy Shop.

Only then did Loren realize that there was no need to think too much about giving gifts to each other, just be happy.

Honeydukes Candy Shop's Christmas gift box contains 9 best-selling magic candies, including jelly slugs, candy cane quills, peppermint toads, chocolate frogs, Bubble Super Bubble Gum, Bee Bee Gum, licorice wands, ice mice, Bibi's All-Flavour Beans.

There are no piles of cockroaches on the list, which proves that there are still many normal wizards in the wizarding world.

But Loren is not a normal wizard. The gift boxes he ordered were all filled with cockroaches, and he gave one to each of his friends.

When Loren placed the order, he was still lamenting that the owner of the candy store, Uncle Ambrosio, was still too young to cater to the boss's preferences. If Dumbledore were to put cockroaches on the list, he might be happy and let him open a small branch in the castle, which would not be filled with galleons in sacks.

In the gift box for Dumbledore, Loren stuffed a few pairs of wool socks embroidered with butterfly patterns into the gift box. They were women's ones, and Dumbledore would definitely like them. Loren originally wanted to add cockroaches to the pile, but eventually gave up the idea.

The Christmas gift for Hermione is the Potions Notes summarized by Loren. The main content is to sort out some potion theoretical systems, which can make Hermione learn more easily and I believe it will be of great help to her.

As for Grandpa Bates, Loren didn't prepare any gifts. The two of them had been dependent on each other for so many years, and every Christmas they just had a sumptuous dinner and nothing else.

"Thank you Loren!"

Turning around to look, Ron was holding a Honeydukes Christmas gift box that was larger than him, and cheers came from behind the gift box.

Ron quickly opened the gift box, took out the Bibi's multi-flavor beans and put them into the box. These were his chess pieces.

He opened a piece of chocolate frog and stuffed it into his mouth, and was about to open other gifts when his eyes suddenly noticed the pile of cockroaches in the gift box.

Ron looked at the mantis pattern on the wrapping paper with its legs moving, and pondered for a moment.

"You eat too." He piled a whole box of cockroaches in front of Loren and quickly walked away to open other gifts.

"Ah."

Who doesn't understand this little idea? Loren sneered, "Even Dumbledore likes to eat cockroaches, don't you understand?"

"What do you know?" Ron's head popped out from behind a large bulging paper bag, looking confused.

"Dumbledore likes to eat cockroaches. He is the most powerful wizard. I like to eat cockroaches. I learn spells very quickly. Hermione also eats cockroaches. She learns best." Loren spoke out a series of examples seriously.

Ron's eyes widened and his mouth opened in surprise, "Could it be that?"

"Yes, a pile of cockroaches can make people stronger." Loren stared into Ron's eyes and sincerely conveyed a message of encouragement to him.

Ron's eyes fell on the box of cockroaches again, his eyes sometimes firm and sometimes hesitant, his brows knitting together and then spreading apart. He wanted to become stronger but didn't want to eat the cockroaches.

Loren's voice became erratic, "Try it, why not try it?"

He unpacked the cockroach pile, took out one with one hand and put it in his mouth, and handed the rest to Ron, "The secret of magic lies in it."

Ron followed Loren's words and subconsciously grabbed one and put it in his mouth. The touch of the arthropod limbs moved around in his mouth. Ron couldn't accept it, his eyes became frightened, and he wanted to spit it out.

Loren covered Ron's mouth and persuaded him, "We've come to this point, don't you want to become stronger?"

Ron felt that this was indeed the case. He chewed his cheeks, the chocolate shell broke, and the aroma of cocoa beans filled the air. The bitterness had not yet risen, and the lemon snow core syrup inside flowed out and wrapped around his tongue, making it sour and sweet.

"Honestly, this tastes better than I thought." Ron said, his expression confused, as if something had been taken away from him.

"Do you remember now that the first Minister of Magic was Ulric Gamp?" Loren asked.

This is misleading. The question and the answer are all in this sentence. If you didn't remember it before, you will remember it now.

Ron nodded, as if he had actually heard this.

"You can even recall such partial knowledge about the history of magic. That's what cockroaches are for." Loren suppressed a smile to brainwash Ron. Before he could think about it, he returned to his bed and continued to open gifts.

Ron was eventually deceived, his eyes wandering between the pile of cockroaches and the gifts, and finally he put the pile of cockroaches into the cabinet.

Loren lowered his head to open the gift and laughed from time to time. He seemed very satisfied with the gift he received.

What Hermione gave Loren was a summary of knowledge points about the history of magic.

The Christmas card said she wasn't worried about Loren's other subjects, but that Loren kept falling asleep in History of Magic class and he might get a big P at the end of the semester. Juanxiu's handwriting spread across the entire page, warning Loren to study the history of magic seriously.

The last paragraph reads: We will always be best friends.

Loren looked at the greeting card and imagined Hermione talking about listening to the lectures and studying hard. The little witch's pretty face was tense and her eyes were staring at him.

A smile appeared on Loren's face unconsciously.

The next gift was beyond Loren's expectation. It was from Snape. He gave him a standard size No. 2 copper cauldron.

Compared with pewter crucibles, copper crucibles can effectively speed up the process of brewing potions, which is not cheap. A standard size No. 2 copper pot in Partridge's Crucible Shop costs 25 Galleons.

Snape was indeed rich.

The rest were given by various classmates, mostly candies, quills and the like. Loren took some time to take stock.

Ron walked to Loren's pile of gifts holding a dark purple sweater and looked at the big bulging paper package on top, "I think I know what this gift is?"

Loren looked at the sweater in Ron's hand and felt moved. He opened the paper package with both hands and found a sky blue hand-knitted sweater and a box of Mrs. Weasley's homemade fudge.

The sweater felt soft and warm, and the wool was very smooth. It looked even better than the one on Ron. Loren thought it would be a great gift.

Ron blushed. He felt that his mother's gift was a bit old-fashioned. "If you don't like it, you don't have to wear it."

"How is that possible?" Loren said as he put on the sweater. It was a little too big, but it made it more comfortable.

The door to the dormitory flew open, and George and Fred rushed in happily. They were wearing the same dark blue sweaters, one with a big yellow letter "G" on it, and the other with an "F".

"Merry Christmas!"

"Hey, look - Loren got a Weasley sweater too!"

The two looked at Loren's sweater, which was obviously more finely made, and said with a funny tone, laughing:

"This is obviously better than Weasley's."

"Mom is more attentive to outsiders."
