#387 - Temporarily avoid the limelight
"What a good child of mommy."
Circe embraced Troy, who was a bit taller than herself, comforting the furious girl as a mother would cherish her child. However, where the girl couldn't see, Circe's face remained full of amusement.
"Circe!!!"
Just as Troy was enjoying the warmth of being with her mother, a roar like that of a lioness shook the earth, and even the castle where the witch lived trembled under the roar.
However, upon hearing the roar, Circe showed no panic, only a look of disgust. Before Circe could make any further moves, Troy gently pushed her away.
"Whose voice is that, Mother?" Troy frowned, clearly displeased by the uninvited guest who interrupted the mother-daughter bonding and called her mother by name.
’Just in time.’ A hint of glee flashed in Circe's eyes, but she put on a look of panic on her face. "That's the current Wonder Woman, Diana. You killed her creator, so she must be very angry now. She's here to take revenge on us."
Circe was, after all, a very famous witch. Not to mention Wonder Woman and the magical world, even some knowledgeable ordinary people might know where her residence was, because it's all written in mythology.
Circe herself is Circe, who lives on the island of Aiaia and likes to turn men into animals.
Wonder Woman, knowing the address of the criminal suspect, naturally wouldn't waste time and came fully armed as soon as possible. She didn't consider whether Circe might have been framed. Wonder Woman planned to beat her up first. Anyway, Circe had given her a lot of trouble in the past, and even if it was just to teach her a lesson, Diana could stand her ground.
"It's her." Troy's face turned grim. "I was just worrying about where to find her. I didn't expect her to walk right into my trap."
After speaking, Troy immediately turned and walked towards the castle window, wanting to teach the approaching Wonder Woman a lesson, but Circe stopped Troy.
"Wait, my child." Circe held the puzzled Troy with her right hand, and with her left hand, she lifted a corner of the robe draped over the girl's body. "Do you want to face the fully armed Wonder Woman like this?"
It's not that Circe really had any mother-daughter affection for the girl she created. Circe did have affection for Troy, but this feeling was more like that of a human who had just obtained a handy tool. They always have to be careful for a while when they first start using it, and the girl was indeed the best toy she had obtained recently. It would be a pity to destroy her like this.
"If you go out like this, they might think you're some princess throwing herself into their arms." Circe tightened the robe draped over the girl's body, appeasing the unconvinced Troy.
Circe wasn't deliberately humiliating Troy. It was just that the girl looked so much like those princesses or queens from her distant memories, who threw themselves into the arms of ancient Greek heroes, that she had almost forgotten. The only difference might be that the latter were bolder than the girl.
"Temporary retreat does not represent cowardice." Circe waved her hand, and a purple door appeared beside them. Circe could have used more convenient teleportation magic, but unfortunately, Troy was a demigod, and magic was difficult to directly affect demigods. This is also why Circe, a mage who has lived since the age of gods and whose strength is immeasurable, would not casually cause trouble for Wonder Woman.
(This is not a new setting, but I will still explain it. In the early days, Circe's magic could be directly cast on Diana, but later it didn't work because demigods have magic resistance. I have to say it is still very reasonable and is one of DC's few good changes.)
Circe took Troy's hand and walked towards the door. The girl was very unwilling, but she was even more unwilling to resist her mother, so she could only let the other party pull her away.
As the two entered, the door gradually disappeared. Wonder Woman and Yang Le, who had finally broken the magical shield of Aiaia Island, arrived late. Wonder Woman didn't stand on ceremony and kicked the castle gate to pieces with one foot, and walked in with her sword and shield, full of murderous intent. Yang Le, who had become an Asgardian, followed behind her.
As soon as they entered, they saw a throne covered with purple silk, and two rows of twisted and terrifying statues on the left and right sides of the road leading to the throne. Looking at the throne in front of her, Diana immediately imagined Circe sitting on it, posing coquettishly. She raised her sword and split the throne in two.
But this seemed to have triggered some mechanism. The moment the throne was split, a purple translucent cover covered Yang Le and Wonder Woman. At the same time, the statues began to tremble constantly, and stones kept falling from them.
Yang Le immediately understood that his and Diana's situation was just like in a game. They must have encountered some unavoidable battle, and they could only get out of this purple cover by solving all the monsters.
But reality is not a game. Yang Le didn't plan to follow the rules. He raised his right hand and poured power into it, waving it at the statue that wanted to pounce on him. The moment the statue came into contact with Yang Le's right hand, the enormous force crushed it into powder.
Even though the enemy was dead and could no longer die, Yang Le still didn't stop his movements. His right fist slammed into the purple cover without reservation. Cyan divine thunder burst out at the first moment, directly vaporizing the other statues that didn't know whether to live or die and wanted to attack Yang Le.
The purple cover didn't even last a second after coming into contact with the divine thunder. It made a "crack" sound like glass being smashed by a stone, and then turned into debris all over the sky, disappearing without a trace.
Yang Le looked at Wonder Woman behind him as if to ask for credit. The latter didn't look at him, but just pulled the sword out of the body of the last standing statue, and at the same time kicked the lifeless statue aside.
After a "bang" sound, the statue turned into pieces of different sizes. Wonder Woman put the sword back into its scabbard and looked around.
"Circe shouldn't be here." Wonder Woman said with certainty. "If she was here, she couldn't just use these silly statues to deal with us. These things can't even delay time."

"Then do you know where she went?" Yang Le asked.
"I don't know." Wonder Woman shook her head. "Circe is a cunning witch. She won't let anyone find out her details. This is the only place I know she can be. All I can be sure of now is that this matter is indeed related to Circe, otherwise she has no reason to hide from me."
"Then we might as well use Clock King to take another look and see what happened here."
