The Admiral of Hogwarts
#52 - End of the game
Let's rewind a few minutes to when Harry's broom first experienced interference. The Firefly, having reached its designated position, wasn't idle but began preparations. The first step was to lock onto the target's location on the high platform diagonally above.
Now, within the dim stands, facing the wooden planks overhead, it's indeed difficult to pinpoint Quirrell's position. If an ordinary person were here, they might have to give up or risk getting dangerously close to the seats below to investigate.
Fortunately, before coming down, the Firefly observed and memorized the professors' distribution. Professors aren't students and generally don't change their seats during matches. As for their more specific location, it's easy for the ship girls to determine because their senses are far more acute than humans, allowing them to pinpoint the location of people within a dozen meters by sound.
After carefully confirming Quirrell's location, the Firefly retrieved a softball-sized, emerald green sphere from her ship equipment space and placed it beside her. Upon closer inspection, one could see that the sphere had only a thin, translucent shell, filled with a viscous liquid of the same color.
This sphere was a secret weapon Hugo had prepared for today: a large, filled acid pop. Besides the hard candy shell, it was entirely filled with acid pop syrup kept in liquid form by adding a few drops of anticoagulant.
Actually, during previous discussions, Hugo and the others had been racking their brains about how to stop Quirrell's actions. After all, based on previous experience, the more trouble you caused during the operation, the more Destiny Points you earned. So, Hugo and his ship girls had been discussing the specific actions in the Admiral Network.
Considering that Hermione used fire to disrupt the situation in the original story and inadvertently saved Harry, Hugo and his team ruled out all options related to fire. Besides that, they also ruled out a bunch of plans that were too obvious after use, easily traceable to them, or had too much collateral damage.
After layers of screening, they devised a plan that seemed a bit like child's play. The core of the plan was this filled acid pop, a seemingly unremarkable but actually quite lethal prank candy.
According to Ron in the original text, Fred gave him one when he was seven, and it burned a hole straight through his tongue. The result was that Fred was chased around by the formidable Mrs. Weasley with a broom.
So, when thinking about something that was both harmful and inconspicuous to hold, Hugo and the others naturally thought of this. After questioning the twins, they confirmed that although this lollipop wouldn't damage other things, its lethality to the human body wasn't inferior to concentrated sulfuric acid.
This incident made Hugo and the others more deeply aware of the biggest difference between wizards and ordinary humans. At least for wizards, in a situation where a small sip of potion could make all the bones in an entire arm grow out, something that could cause damage to the human body like sulfuric acid was just a slightly dangerous joke product.
However, this also brought convenience to Hugo and the others' preparations. They easily obtained a large bag of acid pops through various means, then melted them again and made this filled acid pop.
Just as Hugo gave the order to attack, the Firefly reached out her right hand, grabbed the large acid pop, and swung her arm violently, throwing it towards Quirrell's position in the stands above.
The softball-sized candy flew from the Firefly's hand with a whistling sound, then crossed the dozen meters of space and smashed into the wooden plank behind Quirrell. The moment it touched the plank, the outer layer of candy shattered, and a large amount of syrup, under the powerful force of inertia, flew towards Quirrell through the cracks in the wood.
At first, the liquid only clung to Quirrell's clothes. So Quirrell didn't feel anything was wrong and continued to lower his head, avoiding others and silently chanting spells. But soon, the syrup seeped through his clothes and began to come into contact with the skin on Quirrell's back.
In an instant, the corrosive effect of the acid pop syrup on the human body was immediately and thoroughly displayed. When the first blob of syrup seeped through the fabric of his clothes and came into contact with the skin on Quirrell's back, a constantly expanding patch of charred marks, as if burned, immediately appeared on that patch of skin.
To make matters worse, because he had been concentrating on chanting the curse to curse Harry, he hadn't noticed anything stuck to his clothes. By the time he felt the first point of pain on such a large area on his back and waist, the syrup had completely soaked through the clothes on his back.
Therefore, within a second or two after feeling the first point of pain, a large number of pain points appeared on his spine like mushrooms after a rain. Although the damage to the skin from one or two spots might be tolerable to the touch, the simultaneous appearance of such a large area of damage on a person's body was not much different from being hit by a Cruciatus Curse.
Even though Voldemort, stuck to the back of his head, tried everything to make Quirrell continue his plan, this sudden, unheralded physical pain still exceeded the limits of what the human body could bear.
So, all the surrounding professors saw Professor Quirrell, who had seemed to be nodding off, suddenly jump up from his seat like a shrimp pulled out of the water, while screaming and jumping around. This caused chaos in the entire faculty stand.
At this time, the Firefly had already successfully retreated from the location where she launched the attack. By the time the professors discovered the syrup on Quirrell's back and began searching for the attacker, the Firefly had already returned to her seat as if nothing had happened and was discussing the thrilling scene with everyone.
Just as the Firefly succeeded, Harry climbed back onto his broom and quickly swooped down to the ground. People saw him cover his mouth with his hand, as if he was about to vomit—he landed on the ground on all fours—coughing—a golden object fell into his palm.
"I've caught the Snitch!" he shouted, waving the ball high overhead. The game ended in chaos. Gryffindor won by a large margin of one hundred and seventy to twenty. Watching the Firefly successfully join the group of Gryffindor girls not far away, Hugo also breathed a sigh of relief and cheered with the students and Hagrid next to him, waving the banners in their hands.
"Great, Gryffindor won, and Harry caught the Golden Snitch." Hugo happily high-fived Veneto, which meant they had bet correctly. The only thing they didn't know now was how many Galleons their long-shot bet would earn them.
"The weather in November is a bit cold—would you like to come over to my place for a hot drink?" Hagrid, who was next to them, lowered his head and asked. "I found a baby unicorn yesterday, so I want to share my happy mood with you."
Unlike the original text, this time Veneto acted much earlier than Hermione. Therefore, Harry was hanging in the air for a very short time. Hagrid naturally regarded the previous incident as just an accident, coupled with the characteristic rough and carefree nature of a half-giant. So now he was in the mood to enthusiastically invite Hugo and the others to his house to discuss the unicorn problem.
