The Admiral of Hogwarts
#3 - the whole story
Fortunately, the first ship girl to arrive in this world was Victory, a teacher at the academy, and not Quincy, the embodiment of wisdom in blue. So, fifteen minutes later, Hugo figured out why this thing, which seemed to be his golden finger, had appeared in his hand.
According to Victory, every world possesses a crystal wall system, and countless crystal wall systems float in the boundless void, forming a nearly infinite world.
Hugo's crossing, whether fortunate or unfortunate, stemmed from a collision of crystal wall systems. Although the collision was minor, both sides still had things fall into the other's crystal wall system. According to the rules of crystal wall collisions, the exchange between the two crystal wall systems must be equal.
"If I remember correctly, before the Creation Hall's Alaya and Gaia sent us to this world, I seemed to hear them say that our homeland's crystal wall system accidentally took away a black wizard who had been sealed from this world during a previous collision, someone named Hai something—"
"Hepburn?" Hugo asked, only to see the small ship girl nod frantically. "That's right, that's the pronunciation, it should be him. At the time, they said that because they took away something very important and powerful from Earth in this world, they simply packed us, the things from another world connected to you, and you together and sent us over. After all, you were already dead at that time and wouldn't cause much trouble to the original world."
"That black wizard won't cause trouble to my homeland, will he?" Hugo asked, sounding a little worried. After all, according to the setting and some fanfiction, Hepburn was a very powerful and evil black wizard. If he arrived in Hugo's homeland, he would definitely cause great damage.
Especially since a single Hepburn could make the two big shots of his world send over those hundreds of ship girls, Hugo felt that this was enough to illustrate the power of that black wizard.
"Your understanding is a bit off, my admiral," Victory said, spreading her hands. "This equivalence only refers to the equivalence of the items exchanged between the two crystal wall systems, and does not mean that everything on every planet in the crystal wall system must be equal."
"As for your concern about Hepburn, it's not a problem, because your homeland is a purely technological world. So, in that world, he is just an old man without any magic. Moreover, the last thing we heard those two big shots say before we left seemed to be that because that Hepburn had lived for hundreds of years using magic, he died on the spot after arriving on Earth, a world completely devoid of extraordinary power, and even his bones weathered away."
"That sounds like good news indeed." Hugo let out a long sigh. Only then did he have the mind to discuss the specifics of his golden finger with this hand-sized Victory ship girl.
"If you look at it from the perspective of that series of novels from your previous life, your golden finger is obviously a summoning-type golden finger," Victory said softly, changing her posture and sitting on Hugo's bedside. As the representative of the ship girls sent over by the two supreme controllers of Hugo's homeland, she naturally received a lot of information about Hugo's world, so what she said was very easy for Hugo to understand.
"That is to say, you can summon all the ship girls you had in the game in your previous life, and also summon other things from the game to strengthen yourself," Victory said, tilting her head and looking at Hugo. "I think this should help you gain a foothold in this not-so-peaceful world."
"Sounds pretty good," Hugo raised an eyebrow suddenly, a look of excitement on his face, but he quickly calmed down. "But it shouldn't be as simple as me being able to summon everything right now, right? After all, you just said that the most basic rule of the world is balance, it would be too unbalanced if that were the case."
"You're right, Admiral," Victory nodded, and then explained the methods and limitations of using this golden finger. Just as Hugo had thought, even if this was a gift from his homeland, it was impossible for him to just lie in bed and easily summon all the ship girls. To summarize, there are four rules.
First, the summoned ship girls must be the ship girls that Hugo had previously obtained in the game. Fortunately, he had played the game for several years, and all the ship girls were neatly arranged, so he wouldn't miss anyone.
Second, to summon new ship girls, one must find the bonds of those ship girls, which may be a certain place or a certain thing. Fortunately, Victory said at this time that she could detect the specific location of those bonds within a certain distance, so he wouldn't be blindly bumping around like a headless fly.
Third, and most importantly, to make those ship girls who do not belong to this world appear in this world, a certain price must be paid. According to Victory, that is to exchange fate points by changing the original fate of this world to summon ship girls.
Fourth, in addition to summoning ship girls, fate points can also be used to exchange game avatars to strengthen oneself. Besides that, as the admiral, Hugo can also exchange money for some special skills of those summoned ship girls.
"You currently have 11 fate points," Victory said after explaining these four rules. "This is determined by your identity and your existence. After all, the story of the heroine's brother did not exist in this world originally, so for every year you live in this world, you will gain one fate point."
"And to summon ship girls, different ship girls require different points, but the rules are also very simple. Among them, small warships require one point, medium warships require three points, and large warships require five points."
"Then how can I get more fate points?" Hugo asked. If he simply relied on age to grow, he estimated that he wouldn't be able to summon a few ship girls before he died.
"It's very simple, as long as you, Admiral, can change some of the plots in your memory," Victory said, jumping onto the blanket in front of Hugo. "Of course, not all plots can provide fate points, but I will remind you when you encounter an event that can gain fate points."
After explaining everything, Hugo slowly calmed down from the excitement of obtaining the golden finger. Then, following Victory's instructions, he used his will to put the mobile phone, this medium, into his body, and looked out the window at the scenery outside the window, while muttering to himself; "The Granger family, dentists, sister, Hermione Granger… hey, this is truly a magical day."
"Hugo, what are you mumbling about here?" As soon as Hugo's voice fell, the curtain used to shield the patient next to him was opened, and then his twin sister Hermione in this life walked over. "Why are you sitting up? I remember the doctor asked you to lie down and rest properly now."
"It's okay, I was just thinking about those questions during our interview before," Hugo shrugged, then stretched his neck to look past Hermione's shoulder to the back and asked. "Why did only you come over, where are mom and dad?"
