The Admiral of Hogwarts
#112 - Coconut Tree Town
"Where are you planning to take us first?" After saying goodbye to his parents and going downstairs, Hugo immediately asked Enterprise, "I see there are many places to visit on this island. Are we going to the Cloud Whale Sanctuary, Mermaid Town, or Coconut Tree Town over there later?"
"Let's go to Coconut Tree Town first, because it is the largest wizard settlement in the Hawaiian Islands and even the entire Pacific island region. After all, the Cloud Whale Sanctuary requires advance reservations. And since this is our first time on this island, it's more appropriate to go to the wizard settlement, which is the most representative place on the island. I heard there are many interesting things there."
"But we've almost run out of money," Hermione said a little embarrassedly after getting into the car. "We bought a lot of things in the market before, which cost a lot of money, so we don't have much currency left to use in the wizarding market now."
"Then we should go to Coconut Tree Town even more. There's an American Gringotts Bank there that can help you exchange your Muggle currency," Enterprise said, starting the car and driving out of the parking lot while holding the steering wheel. "I think you should have some Muggle money with you, like pounds or dollars."
"We do have some," Hugo and Hermione said almost simultaneously after subconsciously opening their wallets to check. Then Hermione, sitting in the passenger seat, turned her head and asked, "By the way, Ms. Halsey, are there any restrictions on currency exchange here?"
"I don't know what the situation is in the UK, but here the restriction for tourists is that those who have entered the country within six months can exchange 150 Knuts, which is equivalent to 150 Galleons on your side. After that, every additional six months of stay here will increase the quota by 100 Galleons," Enterprise said, turning the steering wheel and turning onto the road on the left.
"Of course, there are also black markets here that can exchange currency, but for safety reasons, I don't recommend you go there."
"Of course we won't go to that kind of place," Hermione said immediately after Enterprise finished speaking, then turned her head to look at Hugo sitting in the back seat. "We're here for vacation this time, not to cause trouble. So you better not run around."
"Understood, my sister," Hugo nodded somewhat helplessly. At least in terms of liking to lecture, Hermione was no different from the original book, especially since he was her younger brother now, making him a natural target for her lectures.
Fortunately, she wouldn't nag repeatedly except for a very few things, so from Hugo's perspective, he heard more of a familial concern in this nagging.
After parking the car in a relatively remote seaside parking lot, Enterprise led Hugo and Hermione along a small path leading into the forest for a few minutes. They stopped in a small clearing when the parking lot was no longer visible. At this time, Hugo noticed a cement totem pole lying on the ground in the clearing, looking like a cheap tourist attraction decoration.
"Okay, we're here," Enterprise nodded thoughtfully at this moment, then drew her wand, bent down and tapped the eye of the totem pole lying on the ground, and then pulled Hugo and his sister back a step.
"This is—" Hermione asked curiously, but before she could finish her question, the pole that had just been lying on the ground suddenly jumped up from the ground, revealing a small path that looked like it was paved with wood. The end of the path led to a dense forest where there had clearly been nothing just now.
"Take out your wands and hold them in your hands," Enterprise said to Hugo and Hermione. "This place has some special spells for detection. If your wands have not been authorized, you will not be able to enter this place, and forcibly breaking through will trigger an alarm."
"It seems that these places in the United States are managed more strictly," Hugo said to her as he followed Enterprise across the invisible barrier that divided the wizarding world from the ordinary world, holding his wand in front of his chest as she had instructed. "It feels like the security of the wizarding world here should be better than in the UK."
"No, quite the opposite," Enterprise said in a noticeably helpless tone after walking onto the wooden road. "The reason why this place is so strict is because there are too many people coming and going in this area, and many of them are not willing to abide by the local laws, so there are so many warning spells in this place."
"Therefore, you two must stay close to me when we are on the street later to avoid any danger," Enterprise said, lowering her voice here. "According to the information I saw in the Magical Congress before, six tourists disappeared in this town last year alone."
"Understood," Hugo and Hermione replied in unison, with nervous expressions on their faces, and each gripped their wands even tighter.
"Okay, it's necessary to maintain a certain degree of vigilance, but there's no need to be so nervous," Enterprise laughed when she saw Hugo and Hermione's tense little faces.
"As long as we don't go to some more dangerous places, it's fine. Doesn't your Diagon Alley in the UK also have a famous dark wizard street, Knockturn Alley? We can just avoid those obviously dangerous places."
As they were talking, the path had reached its end, and a small town with an architectural style that was obviously a hodgepodge of various cultures appeared in the clearing in the forest. After walking down the most prosperous road in the town, they found that the things sold in the town's commercial street were more commercialized than the goods in the market last time.
"Because this town is open to tourists, there are some facilities specifically designed to facilitate tourists," Enterprise said after taking out the travel guide in her hand and looking at it. "For example, there is also a Gringotts Wizarding Bank here, and it has much more than the small banking business that only had simple wizarding currency exchange and deposit and withdrawal capabilities before."
After exchanging the pounds on them for Knuts at Gringotts, Hugo and Hermione strolled around the town. Because they had money on them, they were naturally in a very relaxed and happy mood while shopping. They even bought a strawberry-nut flavored ice cream ball that could float in the air and ate it when they passed a cold drink stand.
"Summer should indeed be like this," Enterprise said, licking her ice cream. "Enjoying the cool sea breeze, wearing the clothes you should be wearing at this time, and walking down the street eating a cold drink."
"Mmm-hmm—" Hermione nodded in agreement at this time, and even got a bit of the ice cream ball floating in front of her on her nose because she nodded too quickly.
Seeing this scene, Hugo smiled and wiped the bit of ice cream off his sister's nose with his finger, and then looked at a series of magical props made of various beautiful feathers being sold in a shop next to him.
Just when everyone was very relaxed, someone suddenly bumped into Hugo from behind, and then Hugo felt something being stuffed into his pocket.
