The Admiral of Hogwarts

#105 - An unexpected discovery

Long-distance travel is truly an extremely tiring thing. For example, when the Granger family landed at Honolulu International Airport, everyone felt that every muscle in their body was screaming with fatigue. So, after they entered the hotel, they went straight to sleep without even eating lunch.

However, when they woke up early the next morning and opened the curtains, everyone in the Granger family felt that this trip was well worth it. Because through the window, they could see an extremely beautiful tropical island view.

The hotel they were staying at was on a small hill by the sea on the east side of Honolulu. If you looked west, you could see a large area of modern high-rise buildings that made up the city. And interspersed among those tall buildings were all kinds of evergreen tropical plants.

In the distance was Honolulu International Airport, formed by land reclamation. As a globally renowned travel destination, the airport here was naturally extremely busy. At least in the five or six minutes that Hugo stood in front of the window, he saw several planes, clearly from different countries, taking off or landing at the airport.

On the edge of the city were some beautiful parks, and further away on the mountains were lush tropical rainforests and white beaches shimmering in the sunlight. The whole scene looked exactly like the Hawaiian-style photos Hugo had seen in his previous life.

Opening the glass door on the balcony, Hugo immediately felt the sea breeze, carrying the unique salty smell of the sea, blowing in from the ocean. Perhaps because of the constant wind, the air here was much better than he had imagined, and not as humid as he had thought.

"Okay, let's have a good day at the beach today," Mr. Granger said, standing at the door. "By the way, I think you all brought your swimsuits and those clothes for playing on the beach, right?"

"Of course, we're all prepared," Hermione said, waving the bag in her hand. At this time, she was wearing a white dress, a large straw hat, and large sunglasses on her face. It must be said that this outfit was very trendy in this era.

"Huh, what is that house over there?" After they had been playing on the beach for a while, Hermione jumped into the sea to cool off. But just as she swam out a distance and was about to return to the beach, she accidentally discovered the spire of a building that was clearly out of place with the surrounding environment peeking out from behind a small hill not far away.

"Maybe it's a church," Hugo said, looking at the obviously modern-style buildings around him, because he felt that only a church was suitable to be built in this classical style in this situation. "Look, there are so many people here, so there will naturally be religious needs."

"That sounds very reasonable," Hermione said, treading water to keep herself afloat, after all, the Western world can be said to be a nation of believers. Even though the Grangers were a more secular family, they knew the power of religion, especially in America, where the devotion to religion was even higher than in Europe.

"Kids, where is that spire you're talking about?" At this time, Mr. Granger happened to swim to Hugo and his sister's side, so he asked curiously. "If there's a Gothic building in a place like this, it might be an important historical building. We can go visit it after we finish swimming."

"It's over there, Dad," Hermione said, pointing to the small hill not far away. "It's on the side of the small hill next to the hotel we're staying at. From where we are now, we can just see the top floor of the tower peeking out from the hill, and what looks like a gilded lead roof covering the spire."

"But I don't see anything," Mr. Granger said helplessly to his children after stretching his neck and looking in the direction his daughter was pointing. "I only see a small hill covered with vegetation over there. Besides that, I don't see anything."

"But that spire is clearly there," Hermione said to her father, somewhat puzzled. "I swear I'm not lying, Hugo, you say—"

"I don't think Dad and you are wrong," Hugo said, first looking at the surrounding situation, and then lowering his voice. "As for why the two of us can see it but Dad can't, I think it's probably because that place is very likely like Diagon Alley or Hogwarts."

"You mean that place belongs to the American wizarding world, and it's invisible to Dad because of magic?" Hermione frowned when she heard Hugo say this, and then said, "But the tourist brochures I got from the Magical Congress of the United States didn't mention any wizarding tourist attractions in this area."

"You're right, but this place isn't necessarily a tourist attraction belonging to the American wizarding world," Hugo said to his father and sister with a smile. "Maybe it's a wizard's private residence or something else."

"That's probably what it is," Hermione said, nodding at this time. "I think this place is quite close to where we're staying. We can go over there in a while and see what this building is. At least, I don't think it's likely to be a private residence."

After all, there were several Ravenclaw students who came from pure-blood families with private estates. And in daily chats, Hugo and the others knew that those private estates were generally located far away from ordinary people because they needed to raise some magical creatures.

And this building was clearly mixed in with a large group of ordinary people's buildings, according to the wizarding world's habits. This kind of building is often some public place belonging to the wizarding world. It is generally built among ordinary people to facilitate the wizards' comings and goings.

More than an hour later, the Granger family returned to the hotel. Then Mrs. Granger took the siblings towards the building below the small hill to the west.

When they approached the hill, they discovered that the entire hill and its surroundings were a fitness park for tourists to exercise. And at the entrance of the park, there was a sign stating that this park was a park where you were completely free to dress, that is to say, you could wear any clothes to stroll in this park, except for running naked.

"No wonder there were so many strangely dressed people along the way," Mrs. Granger said, shaking her head after seeing the sign. "Did you see that person walking on the road in a wetsuit just now? Americans are really too unrestrained."

"Of course, we saw it," Hugo and Hermione said in unison after looking at each other. It seemed that the wizards here were quite smart, knowing that they were not very good at distinguishing Muggle clothes, so they simply used this method to cover up their tracks.
