Chapter 775: Strange Underground Passage

The entrance to the basement was an iron door. Lyudmila made a gesture, and two team members covered her from the side, aiming their guns at the door. She slowly pulled the door latch with her right hand wearing tactical gloves.

Squeak... a sound of metal friction that made people's ears sore, the large iron door covered with rust slowly opened, and a cold wind blew from the door, mixed with a strong smell of blood.

Seeing the scene behind the door, Lyudmila and a group of team members behind her couldn't help but frown.

In front of them was a deep and dark arched passage, which could accommodate about three people passing side by side. It was more than two meters high and led to the underground at a not-so-large slope.

Every few meters on both sides of the passage, there was a dim electric light flashing. Under the light, the passage could not be seen at a glance.

According to the slope calculation, this passage alone was probably dozens of meters long.

This passage was obviously not the so-called "basement", but a road. The real basement should be at the end of the passage.

"Boss, something is not right!" A captain of Moran said in a silly voice.

Lyudmila nodded. She was relaxed and natural when fighting with the mobs outside. Now her expression became unusually serious.

Although this passage is very simple, it is definitely not something that a mob organization composed of ordinary civilians can build in a short time. According to normal architectural knowledge, the end of the passage will never be as simple as a small basement. There may be a large space, or even an underground building complex!

"Boss, let's notify the headquarters." Captain Moran suggested.

Lyudmila thought about it and shook her head: "Not for the time being. No valuable clues have been found. It's just an underground passage. The headquarters is also short of manpower and will not send more people for this reason."

"There is another team of people stationed in the company's own province. Do you want to ask for support?" The captain asked.

There is another reason. Mercenaries are different from regular troops. There is a competitive relationship between each sub-department, each commander, and even each squad. If you ask for help, it is tantamount to admitting that you are not strong enough. Lyudmila was unwilling to admit defeat to other commanders without finding any substantial danger.

"Chekov, you take a pair of people to stay here and guard the retreat. I will take a team down. Both sides should keep in touch at any time and be ready to meet each other." Lyudmila snapped her fingers, turned sideways, and entered the passage like an agile cat.

Six Moran mercenaries followed closely with guns and filed in.

"Stay alert and defend!" The captain Chekov who stayed behind whispered, and the seven team members who stayed outside the passage immediately dispersed and occupied the advantageous terrain around the entrance to guard.

"Boss, the perimeter is arranged, how are you?!" Chekov asked in a low voice, holding the intercom at his mouth.

The signal of the intercom seemed not very good, and there was a hissing noise, but Lyudmila's short and continuous reply could still be heard: "Going deeper, temporarily safe, keep in touch at any time..."

"Understood!" Chekov said.

Lyudmila led the group deeper into the underground passage, which was built with large bricks and stones. It was eerie. The further down they went, the wetter the walls became. They felt sticky to the touch, as if covered with moss.

The lights in the passage were dim and uncertain, and the footsteps of the mercenary's tactical leather boots sounded rhythmically, echoing in the passage.

The passage was very long. It took more than ten minutes to walk, and the straight distance was probably more than a mile. Finally, they reached the end of the passage.

In front of them, there was another iron door flashing.

But this iron door was not open. It was locked by an iron general. A big lock was added to the iron chain as thick as a child's arm, locking the door.

Lyudmila was stunned. If it was just to detain hostages, there was no need to make such a fuss, right? Even if it was to be locked, why was the first iron door not locked, but this one was locked?

Under the light beam of the Wolf Eye flashlight, both the iron door and the iron chain and iron chain that locked the door were covered with a layer of light blue rust, especially the big lock, which was rusty and looked like it had not been opened for a long time.

Although there were many doubts, since they had come here, they could not retreat, whether it was to save people or driven by curiosity.

"Open it." Lyudmila dodged and let the iron door go, whispering to a team member behind her.

The team member nodded, silently took out a high-temperature welding gun specially used for breaking doors, and broke the door against the rusty iron chain.

The blue flames of thousands of degrees of high temperature sprayed out from the welding gun, burning the iron lock, and the steel slowly melted silently, turning into drops of molten iron falling on the ground.

Not long after, there was a slight click, and the lock head broke from it. The team member who broke the door nodded to Lyudmila and made an OK gesture.

Even without a lock, the door was extremely heavy. Two male team members worked together to barely push the iron door open, and fine iron filings fell from the gap in the door and landed on the ground.

"Chekov, we found another iron door at the end of the passage. We have broken it and are about to enter..." Lyudmila said to the intercom.

"Received... Be careful... Be safe..." Chekov's voice came intermittently.

Behind the second iron door, it was already pitch black, with almost no lights. Only a few small red dots like alarm lights could be seen, flashing near or far.

Despite the tactical mask with a certain evolved air function, the strong smell of blood in the air could still be smelled.

Including Lyudmila herself, all seven tactical flashlights were turned on, and seven beams of light barely illuminated the road under their feet.

A team member leaning against the wall saw a handle similar to the main switch on the wall and pulled it down hard.

A series of switch sounds rang out, and lights were lit up one after another from near to far above the head, illuminating the surrounding environment clearly.

In front of me was still a passage, which was much wider than the previous passage. The difference was that there were many rooms on both sides of the passage, like university dormitories, but there was an iron door at the door of each room.

"An underground prison?"

Lyudmila looked in from the fence window on the nearest iron door, and saw that behind the door was a room of about 20 square meters. In the middle of the room, there was an operating table. There were several rows of dusty shelves in the corner of the room, and two oxygen cylinders leaned against the corner of the wall.

The operating table was covered with a large white cloth, which was covered with large brown spots.

The same gray-brown spots can be seen on the peeling walls around the room.

According to Lyudmila's experience, those were long-dried blood stains.

Lyudmila was about to break into the door to find out what was going on when another team member exclaimed in a low voice: "Boss, what's in here?"
