Stupid Odin
#86 - The Strongest Giant on Earth is Mine (Part 2)
Hraungnir's initial sensation was of a small hill pressing down on his arm, a force he found manageable.
He even had the余裕 to taunt Downs: "Hahaha! Is this the power of the great Asa God-King? How laughable!"
"Oh? Is that so? Then I'll start applying some force."
Hraungnir's laughter died in his throat. As Downs increased the pressure, he felt as if mountains were collapsing upon him, forcing him to muster all his strength to resist.
"Giant, do you yield?"
"Never!"
The pressure emanating from the flint staff caused every muscle and bone in Hraungnir's body to creak and groan in protest.
It felt like not one, but three massive mountains were bearing down on him.
Even with Downs applying such immense pressure, Hraungnir still roared, "I will not yield!" when asked.
Any observer with a discerning eye could see that Hraungnir was at his limit.
"Shall I add a little more?" Downs's relaxed voice was like countless whips, lashing at the giant's metallic face.
The scene was simply too exaggerated.
Downs, standing at six meters tall, pinning a giant over thirty meters tall, was like a monkey using a bamboo stick to overwhelm an elephant.
The sheer visual contrast was absurd at first glance, but upon closer inspection, it was awe-inspiring.
At that moment, the entire audience erupted in wild cheers for the God-King.
"His Majesty is mighty!"
"Our King is invincible!"
"Crush him! Teach him a lesson! Tear the mouth off this uncouth brute!"
Normally, Hraungnir would have taught these gossiping fools a lesson with fists the size of carriage compartments.
But he was truly being pushed to his absolute limit.
It felt as if the force being exerted wasn't just mountains, but the entire Jotunheim world.
Even though Downs was clearly holding back, only increasing the pressure by ten tons at a time, Hraungnir still felt an overwhelming sense of powerlessness that he knew he couldn't overcome.
The ground had already begun to tremble. The paving stones beneath the giant's feet had been crushed into powder, and his legs were sinking deep into the earth. Even the replica of the Golden Palace next door creaked and swayed, its icicles breaking off and falling.
It seemed as if the frozen fortress and palace were on the verge of collapsing under the terrifying strain of the two combatants.
The terrifying pressure of their contest spread in all directions, leaving even Odin's mortal servants in awe, prompting them to loudly praise the Asa God-King's mighty name.
This scene made Odin's face darken: Could you guys not fight at my house!
Over here, Hraungnir looked at the smile on Downs's lips, and his despair deepened.
The pressure from his opponent increased every second, threatening to break his body at any moment.
How could he possibly fight like this?
Before Downs could ask a third time, Hraungnir, already forced to kneel on one knee due to the pressure, shouted in a frenzy, "I yield! I yield!"
The terrifying pressure that felt like it could crush the Jotunheim world vanished instantly.
This sudden release of force caused the giant, who was still bracing himself, to stumble forward awkwardly, falling to the ground on all fours, as if prostrating himself before Downs.
"Ooh, ooh, ooh—" His actions drew a chorus of gasps from the audience.
Well, he was kneeling whether he wanted to or not.
Hraungnir realized he had no other choice, so he simply gave up, slamming his massive head forward, his forehead touching the cold ground: "Hraungnir yields! I surrender my life to His Majesty Downs."
The entire audience erupted in an uproar at these words.
He yielded?
This unruly giant had actually submitted?
His Majesty is too amazing!
For a moment, the audience's clamor soared into the sky.
"Hahaha! He yielded! He yielded!"
"As expected, there are no barbarians His Majesty cannot conquer!"
"Long live the God-King!"
These voices made Hraungnir uncomfortable, but what could he do when the situation was against him?
Just then, Downs walked up to the giant: "Raise your head."
The giant obeyed, but only dared to look up, not to rise.
"Hraungnir, you have no need to be ashamed. Half of my blood is also giant blood. We share common ancestors. In the end, you merely lost to another giant. You have no need to be ashamed. Finally, congratulations, you have become a part of the great legend of the Asa God Race."
Downs didn't have to say all this.
His giant bloodline was a fact, and the pure-blooded Asa Gods didn't necessarily like it. For the giant race, this was the root of their willingness to surrender.
The God-King is one of our own after all, so it's okay.
Hraungnir's eyes even welled up with tears: "I am willing to fight to the death for Your Majesty!"
Without a doubt, there were two levels of mentality, from accepting fate to offering loyalty.
Odin saw that Downs had subdued the vanguard general he had been longing for in one move, and his mouth tasted bitter. He smacked his lips but couldn't say anything.
Who told him and his sons to be unable to handle this big guy?
If you're already begging for help, don't expect your big brother to leave anything for you.
On the surface, Odin still put on an enthusiastic face and congratulated him: "Congratulations, Big Brother, on gaining another fierce general!"
Downs looked indifferently at this scheming fellow and gave a polite, shallow smile: "This is a blessing for the entire Asa God Race, a capable assistant in the face of the Twilight."
Odin, as long as you are still on our side, then this is good for everyone.
Downs warned this increasingly restless and foolish younger brother in this way.
Odin nodded on the surface: "Yes! What's mine is yours between us brothers."
Downs raised his eyelids: "There may be more Frost Giants emerging from the glaciers recently, you must keep a close eye on them, foolish brother. I will send more giants to assist you."
"Thank you, Big Brother!" While thanking him, Odin hated him even more in his heart: I want a strongman like Hraungnir! Ordinary giants are useless!
After fighting for so many years, the Asa God Race all knew that what determined the upper limit of a giant's strength was often not strength and physique, but agility and intelligence.
Those clumsy and slow ordinary Frost Giants were only fit to be cannon fodder.
The real fighters were often female giants, who were generally smarter, more beautiful, and had a higher upper limit.
Just like the female giant Skadi, she was now able to control a Frost Wolf pack. These Frost Wolves were superior breeds that had been transformed from the descendants of Fenrir through the Order Slate and could obey her commands. Their shoulder height generally exceeded two meters, and some could even reach four meters.
These Frost Wolves were enough to fight ordinary Frost Giants.
And a giant like Hraungnir, who could fight and withstand attacks, and was also intelligent, was simply hard to come by.
Odin was envious to death.
But he couldn't envy him.
If he could conquer this guy with strength, he would have done it long ago.
It's just that he's useless!
He could only watch his big brother take away this strongest giant on earth.
