Stupid Odin

#6 - We are the future

Paul had never felt so confident.

This was all thanks to his good son, Thanes!

Looking around, the giants who could have overwhelmed and killed him were now struggling through a mixture of ice water that resembled mud.

Some of the unlucky ones in the lowest parts of the basin were even smashed in the head and killed instantly when the ice water mixed with ice chunks rushed down.

Not a single giant in the center of the basin fared well.

They had never encountered such a surging 'sea,' and they certainly didn't know how to swim.

These super-sized landlubbers, easily six or seven stories tall, desperately struggled in the ice water that threatened to engulf them. The ice water that filled their mouths and noses made it difficult to breathe. They wanted to shout, to wail, but these foolish actions only made them swallow more water.

Only a small portion of these giants struggled out towards Paul, covered in mud and crawling.

To make matters worse, the ice water began to freeze again in the extreme cold of the Jötunheimr, creating a situation even more terrifying than a swamp. They might be able to crawl out, but it wouldn't happen quickly.

Ignoring the giants in the middle for now, only seven or eight giants had a chance to attack Paul at this moment.

The one Paul had just instantly killed was already the closest to him.

His good son's instructions before leaving still echoed in his ears: "Father, save your strength. You might need to take out those filthy male giants and then come support us."

Paul felt as if a flame was burning in his heart. His good son, Thanes, was so thoughtful! That little brat Odin always wanted him to risk his life. No wonder Thanes always scolded him as a 'stupid little brother.' Odin was indeed too stupid; the Æsir should be handed over to him, and it wouldn't be Odin's turn!

In a surge of excitement, Paul picked up a stone slightly smaller than the previous one and hurled it at another ugly giant lunging towards him, baring its teeth.

"Whoosh—"

The male giant wasn't without a response; he foolishly raised the club in his hand, attempting to smash Paul's projectile away.

As if it were that easy!

The overconfident fellow instantly suffered a fracture in his right hand. But that wasn't the end of it; the boulder, with its remaining force, slammed heavily into his chest like a cannonball.

"Agh ah!"

Accompanied by a miserable scream, the giant flew backwards more than ten meters. As the boulder shattered, his once-broad chest revealed a terrifying depression. When he fell, he crushed more than a dozen thick pine trees, each requiring two people to hug, scattering them in all directions.

Even without sufficient medical knowledge, Paul knew that the giant's chest ribs were completely fractured and his internal organs were ruptured. Based on his years of combat experience, he knew that giant was done for.

Withdrawing his gaze from the unlucky fellow, Paul continued to strain his muscles, grabbing a third stone and throwing it towards the next target.

Beside him, more than two hundred large stones had already been piled up; these were his most powerful weapons.

Before these stones were used up, no giant would be able to get close to Paul.

The scene of Paul continuously killing giants with stones was so shocking that Bestla and the other giants on their side who had rushed over were stunned.

How could this be called a life-or-death battle?

This one-sided battle wasn't even as intense as a hunt!

Bestla shouted enthusiastically, "Did you see that? Did you see that? That's my good son Thanes's plan!"

Behind her tall figure, the eyes of more than a dozen female giants sparkled.

Female giants naturally worship the strong.

The tall and mighty Paul was already to their liking, so what about the even stronger and smarter Thanes?

There was no harm without comparison. Looking at those crude and stupid giants with crooked mouths and slanted eyes, who were being singled out and instantly killed by Paul one by one, the last bit of betrayal in the female giants' hearts disappeared without a trace.

The charm brought by strength and handsomeness was terrifying in this barbaric era!

"Sisters, let's go together and support Lord Paul!"

"Ooh ooh oh—"

Led by Bestla, a group of female giants climbed onto the high mountain next to the pass guarded by Paul, and also picked up the boulders that had been prepared long ago, aiming them at the swarming giants and throwing them over.

The stones they threw were certainly not as big or as powerful as those thrown by Paul. However, even stones the size of oil drums, when砸砸砸砸 dropped from a height of tens of meters, could still inflict terrifying damage on the male giants if they hit.

At best, they would break their hands and feet; at worst, they would be killed instantly with one blow to the head.

This artificial meteor shower declared the death fate of this group of giants!

On the other side, Laufey, with her two sons, joined her husband Fárbauti, also attacking the giants trapped in the basin from a high position with stones.

"Woo woo woo—"

A long horn sound echoed over the basin. This extremely penetrating sound traveled far away along the cold ice wind.

Odin was overjoyed when he heard it: "Brother! Your plan has succeeded!"

The wooden-faced Vili next to him also showed a simple and honest smile on his face.

Thanes smiled slightly: "Next is our war!"

Yes!

Our war!

A short sentence made Odin's heart burn.

The three brothers detoured and ran towards the incomparably huge figure standing on the plain.

The size of Ymir, the progenitor of the Frost Giants, was too enormous.

At 100 meters, more than thirty stories high, he could be clearly seen even from ten kilometers away. One could even vaguely see his exceptionally sharp shoulder blades growing out from his shoulders like wings; see the sharp thorns growing out from his elbows; see a portion of his unique rib tips protruding from his chest; see his wide feet that could crush an elephant with one step…

No matter how many times he had secretly spied on him, every time Thanes approached and felt Ymir's enormity, he still felt incredible.

He could even imagine that later generations in Asgard's records of all this would describe it like this—when the great God-King used the raging waves of the icy sea as a weapon, greeted with mountains, and leveled the entire Frost Giant army, he would finally face the destined nemesis, the true progenitor of the Frost Giants. Ymir, he was no longer a giant; he himself was an iceberg.

Yes!

An iceberg!

The cold wind howled, icy and biting!

The closer one got to him, the more one could feel his hugeness and his coldness.

His inherent frost breath could drop the air temperature near his mouth and nose by ten degrees with each breath.

In another world, Ymir would undoubtedly be crowned with the name [Titan].

Even if he did nothing, he himself was a mountain, lying between the Æsir and victory. Although it felt like the distance was only a short distance away, it seemed like the ends of the earth.

Even though the three of them were still a full kilometer away from Ymir at this moment, Odin still felt somewhat afraid.

"Brother! Can we really contend against the supreme creation of this world?" There was an undisguised tremor in his voice.

"The world's creation? Perhaps!" Thanes first smiled contemptuously, then said solemnly: "I always say—we Æsir are the future of this world, and everything related to those foolish giants will gradually disappear into the long river of history! Now is the time to prove this sentence!"
