#195 - Thor vs Thunder God
Imagination limits combat power.
For beings who have never experienced a war between worlds, even gods will have obvious gaps in their common sense.
When Downs 'saw' through the world's will that the gods on the opposite side were actually flying out of the rocky tortoise shell, driving various elemental forces, and attacking the Jötunheimr world, Downs was stunned.
Although this scene was very similar to the boarding tactics of medieval wooden sailing ships on Earth, Downs really wanted to ask—did you forget that the World Tree also has tentacle attacks?
Under Downs' control, the roots of the World Tree could create a series of root traps that dazzled the Sumerian gods.
Don't forget, this is not an empty universe. It is full of chaotic energy, just like the Sumerian gods described it, this is the [Salt Sea] and the [Sweet Sea]. Chaotic energy not only greatly reduces the field of vision, but also weakens perception.
Many Sumerian gods foolishly rushed into the pocket formation made of tree roots by Downs.
Several thick roots formed a shrinking pocket.
"Pa!"
A true god fell just like that.
His own divine power was not enough to offset the crushing force of the world barrier on the roots. It was simply a joke to use the divine power of a single god to fight against the continuous source of suppression from an entire world.
Of course, this kind of pocket root formation is not invincible.
The relatively slow speed of the World Tree's roots meant that it could not be as flexible as the tentacles of the octopus Kraken.
Even so, Downs would be very satisfied if he could intercept one or two-tenths of them.
More than a dozen Sumerian gods died silently in the void without their colleagues knowing, and even their divine bodies were brought back by the roots of the World Tree after their deaths.
For gods, beings composed of highly complex laws, the World Tree can hardly digest them. It is most appropriate to hand them over to experts like Downs.
In this way, a large group of Sumerian gods broke through the seemingly weak world barrier of Jötunheimr and crashed into Niflheim.
These ambitious Sumerian gods were immediately confused when they entered.
The first thing they noticed was the difference in gravity.
"Ah! My body is so light."
"Why is this?"
Not every world's gravitational acceleration is called g, nor is it 9.8 meters per second squared!
The abnormality of gravitational acceleration is a punishment for foreign gods in itself.
The Sumerian world on the opposite side is likely to be a world with excessive gravity. When they came to a world with relatively low gravity like Jötunheimr, the Sumerian gods obviously became unaccustomed.
If they were given enough time, they might be able to slowly adapt here like the gods and mortals of the Celtic world.
Downs would not give them this time.
A huge shadow approached them almost silently…
"Ah! What is that?" A Sumerian god shot out several divine lights, most of which missed, and only a few one or two hit the target.
However, when the exaggeratedly sized snake body approached, he, unable to adapt to the gravity here, was caught severely by the giant python before he even had time to dodge.
"Ahhh—"
In a few breaths, most of the bones in his body had been crushed.
This was not the end. A terrifying snake mouth pounced over and swallowed his entire body whole.
In the thick fog not far away, a blood basin mouth pounced out.
Everything happened so quickly that, with a whoosh, the Sumerian god's head and right arm completely disappeared, leaving only a blood-stained corpse lying on the ground, constantly oozing noble divine blood.
Another god was also attacked, but this time, it was a scarlet magic spear [Gungnir, the Spear That Never Misses], which pierced his chest.
The Sumerian gods were not without resistance.
Soon, when the divine spear [Gungnir] used by the former God-King was thrown into battle, the Sumerian gods were falling at a rate of almost one per minute.
"Something's wrong! There's an ambush in the fog!" The Sumerian [Storm God] Adad was relatively alert. He realized that the foggy environment was severely unfavorable, and he did not hesitate to expend a lot of divine power to fly high into the sky and create a huge thundercloud.
A sharp thunderclap shook the entire Fog Country, and lightning resounded on the endless fog. When the torrential rain fell, the massive amount of rain finally dispersed some of the fog, and the strong lightning also guided the way for the Sumerian gods, so that they would not be wiped out in this misty world.
They began to gather in the direction of Adad.
Originally, Adad had a good chance to become the being who changed the fate of this Sumerian divine invasion army.
Unfortunately, Downs would not allow this to happen.
A beam of rainbow light descended, and Thor, the genuine Thunder God of this world, made a shining appearance.
"Haha! You are the Thunder God, and I am also the Thunder God! Let's see who is the real deal!" Thor, who had been suppressed for a long time, was like a fierce beast locked in a cage and starved for several days. The look in his eyes when he looked at Adad could be described as bloodthirsty. He came up and threw [Mjolnir] at his head without saying a word.
The two Thunder-type tough guys collided in mid-air, and at this moment, it seemed as if hundreds of millions of lightning rays burst open in the high sky of Niflheim, and even the world barrier reflected these exaggerated lightning rays.
The air in this world was densely covered with Runic symbols representing the law of lightning, and suppressed by the corresponding Runas spell network was the rain and thunder law network belonging to Adad.
The collision of two completely different laws, the turbulence caused by the collision of the power of the laws, almost covered a quarter of Niflheim.
To be honest, as long as this battle continued, more Sumerian gods would definitely come to support Adad, but this battle, which seemed evenly matched in the eyes of the onlookers, ended with a result that made people's jaws drop.
After a brief stalemate, Adad discovered in horror that his thunder law was collapsing at an alarming rate.
He instinctively wanted to beat the bearded Thunder God on the opposite side with his powerful divine body, but he never thought that the other party was not only stronger than him in thunder power, but even the strength of his divine body was far above him.
The other party slammed down with a hammer.
"Dong—"
Brains splattered!
The Sumerian Storm God Adad... fell!
Adad's death caused a great commotion.
You must know that Adad's status cannot be considered low. He is at least a main god-level existence.
Although the Thunder-type is known for being rough, not leaving any leeway or room for maneuver from the start, the fact that one's own main god lost in this kind of tit-for-tat confrontation still had a great impact on the Sumerian gods.
The news of Adad's fall in one encounter quickly spread in all directions.
"Adad is dead!"
"Be careful! The other side's Thunder God is very fierce!"
"Damn it, I feel my divine power is being suppressed."
"This world of the other party is so weird!"
After a series of left and right rushes, a part of the Sumerian gods finally broke out of Niflheim, but they did not know that waiting for them in the neighboring world was a terrifying world of death…
